Great unit. Just wish the ice would fall into the bucket further from the base so that it doesn’t stop it from making more when about 1/2 full or else would fall out and shatter the sheet. You do have to hit the sheet with the scoop to break up most of the time.

Works great makes ice fast
Ordered. Delivered 3 times to get 1 not damaged. Sent the first 2 back. This is a delivery and packaging issue , not an Amazon problem. UPS destroyed 2 units. Amazon sent viz a freight company and it came in perfect condition. Amazon was great about handling it and didn’t stress me out. I lov.e the ice maker. Be sure to read the item description closely and order the right model. This unit has a pump, which is what I wanted, but they make a direct drain unit also. Good product

Dosent work
We ordered this Ice maker and installed it. It makes three loads of ice then stops and sounds like it is sucking air instead of water running to make the ice. We have unplugged and started 2 times. We have only had a week and Amazon now says we cannot return it. Total waste of $1000. Do not buy.

This is the best value I have found in stand-alone ice machines!
I needed to replace a U-Line under counter ice machine, and I looked all over for the best value in a replacement. So many of the lower-cost options have cheap plastic compression fitting water inputs. The MAXX ICE MIM50P uses a standard ice machine water line with 1/4″ threaded fitting. The drain pump connects to high-quality flex tubing. The stainless front door looks great, and the components of this machine are well-built. Customer service is outstanding…we received a unit that was in perfect condition, but the bin-full sensor was not working properly. The service technician answered on a Friday night at 6:30 and I had a new system delivered on Tuesday! I love this ice machine. It’s as quiet as the U-Line system it replaced that was 3 times more expensive. The removable ice bin is also a big plus that the U-Line did not have.

a good produce
Well, it was a challenge. We had to have three of these delivered because each one was damaged during shipping. We had heard good things about this ice maker and really wanted it. They were responsive and very good at communicating with me. I hope they start to ship their ice machines like they did the third time. It was perfect. The only thing that I wish was different, is minor, but I was hoping the ice cubes would be the pretty, clear ice cubes. these aren’t, but that’s ok. the ice machine is working very well, and we love it!

Multiple Freon leaks
Bought unit and it sat in garage in box for a year due to remodel delay. Hooked it up but no ice. Had independent technician troubleshoot it and found multiple Freon leaks. Can’t make ice with internal temperature at 65 degrees. Warranty expired before a single cube was made. Money down the drain. Warranty expiration not their fault but defective unit is. Should never have left the factory with leaks.

Large supply of ice that recovers quickly.
This icemaker makes tons of ice very quickly and the supply recovers quickly when you take ice out. The unit is loud when running and the ice drops in sheets that need to be broken up which is easy to do just using the scoop. The size of ice is about one inch cubes.

Very easy to setup!
This icemaker is in my home bar. I’ve only had it for 3 weeks but setup was easy, it looks good, and, so far, is working great! I had a U Line which has been nothing but problems. This unit holds more and has a cool blue LED when you open the door. Very nice.

Don’t buy
This does not come with a pump for the water line. I’ve purchased multiple pumps and none will work with this ice maker. It’s causing leaks and water damage to the floor.

Makes sheets of ice that don’t break into cubes
If you want a machine that makes sheets of ice that don’t break into cubes, this is the product for you. I would go with one of the cheaper models that functions in the same way. I previously had a Kitchenaid model which had heated wires that cut the ice as it dropped and it made perfect ice. At least half the cubes aren’t fully formed when it drops the sheet into the bin.

Works but not impressive
Looks nice but that’s about it. I had it installed with a filter by a licensed plumber in the same spot as my previous 18 year old Scotsman Ice Machine. It’s noisy when running and the ice cubes come out in sheets that do not break apart very well. The ice is too “soft” rather than hard and solid. This is the most disappointing factor with this machine. I live on a lake so I fill coolers often. Now that it’s installed, I feel I have to live with it. Sheet of ice lands on pile preventing new batches to be made well before there is 25 pounds of ice. I pulled the bin out when it was full and it weighed 8 pounds, including the bin. Clearly the sheets take up more room than if the cubes were separate. Since they come in sheets, you’ll never get that much ice unless you manually break up the sheets all the time. I think this is misleading consumers. If you’re looking for solid, individual cubes and more than 6 pounds of ice at any one time, buy something else.

Very happy with this…
Replaced a Uline that died after 4 years. This was half the price of a new Uline with more features—removable ice bin and built in pump. Customer service at Maxx-Ice was very helpful—they walked me through making the cubes smaller which helps them break up more easily. When I first installed it made the sucking noises another reviewer mentioned—that was because the water line kinked when I pushed it back into the opening. Works great now. It’s about 1-3/4” shorter than the Uline so I will need a filler piece. But happy to do that when saving $1,200.

Design flaw-water reservoir is poorly designed and leaks
Machine will make ice quickly, just seems to be a manufacturing / design flaw that results in significant water leaking from under the ice bin. The water reservoir at the back behind the ice bin has a caulking bead along the bottom edge that does not do an adequate job of sealing the reservoir. Turned the machine on for the first time and in the morning there was a significant water pool on the floor, coming from the bottom door seal of the ice maker.

So far, so good!
This unit had the best reviews for the price, with the best features. It came triple boxed, which was good, because the outside box had quite a bit of damage. Unit itself was undamaged. Took a little effort to get it hooked up, due to having to change the type of fittings from our previous unit, but it immediately started making crystal clear ice, and by the next morning was full.Has been running for a month with no issues. Barring some unforeseen failure, it is a good buy for the money!

Icemaker Difficulties
The icemaker is very noisy when making ice. The second problem is that the ice comes off as a sheet vs individual cubes. So you must break up the sheets manually periodically.

Unit is very nice overall. Was not packaged very well
Unit is very nice overall. Was not packaged very well. One corner at rear was slightly dented and exterior was very dusty. Instructions were a bit unclear on the built in pump for drain. It drains to a nearby sink trap and not sure if this feature is working but so far so good. It fills bin in about 12 hours and is relatively quiet, looks nice and blue light is great. Easy installation.

They sent us a replacement that was damaged and dirty. Be warned and don’t purchase this unit
Save your money. This thing leaked constantly. The pump would not come on when it was supposed to. And dealing with the manufacturer has been a huge headache. They sent us a replacement that was damaged and dirty. Be warned and don’t purchase this unit.

Waste of money
Bought this ice machine (Model MIM50) during a remodel and it has worked a total of about 6 weeks before it stopped making ice. Called the number on the side of the machine for technical service and they were no help. Gave me the names of two techs in the area and when I called on them, they said they do not work on this brand. Called 5 others identified on my own and can’t get someone out to service this unit. What a waste of money. Buyer beware.

DO NOT BUY
I have the MIM50 and it worked well for about 5 years. It just stopped making ice. Since it was out of factory warranty I called over a dozen repair places and none of them work on MAXX products. I’ve been in touch with MAXX company and they gave me some repair people however they only work on commercial machines. What good is this machine if no one will repair it and the manufacturer doesn’t help you? Stick with well known brands…….

Is very noisy, particularly at night if your bedroom is close to the kitchen
We have had our unit for 4 1/2 years. It was said that these units last about 5 years. Makes consistent ice when the plastic flap is in the up position. If some ice is keeping the flap down then the machine will not make ice. After you’ve had it awhile you get to know the ins and outs about it. When this unit goes up we’ll probably get the same one.

Keeps making Ice
I have had this ice maker going on 7 years and works great. I had a Viking one before that and it crapped out in 5 years. Cost more to repair so tried this one. The only thing I would say is that if machine stops making ice just check where ice drops. It sometimes will get stuck. You just need to take fingers and get it off into bin. I will also say we have well water so my water has some serious minerals in it but keeps working. I am very pleased with it.

I am a contactor I have put in many ice makers and all have had problems, leaking, failing etc. I have put in 3 of these and knock on wood no issues and customers like these. Also theyre better price than ones that brock down by hundreds of $
