Decent Build Quality, Okay Sound, but Some Issues with Assistant and Mic
I got the Echo Dot device recently and have been using it for a while. Overall, the speaker and Alexa assistant are okay, but there are a few things that could be better. Here’s what I found:Pros:1- Good Build and Design: The Echo Dot looks nice and feels well-made, which is great.2- Speaker Sound: The sound from the speaker is okay for its size. It’s clear enough, though not amazing.3- Colored LED Light: The colored LED light is a cool addition. I like the clock feature too.Cons:1- Mic Problems: Sometimes, the microphone doesn’t work well. I have to say the wake-up word multiple times before it responds. It’s not consistent.2- Assistant Misunderstandings: The assistant often doesn’t understand what I’m saying and gives me unrelated answers. It can be frustrating.3- LED Light Confusion: The colored lighting is a neat idea, but it’s sometimes hard to see if I’m looking at the device from the top .4- Clock Size: The clock is useful, but it’s a bit small when you’re far away. I wish it was bigger and easier to see.5- Limited services in many countries, amazon music and shoppingIn summary, the Echo Dot is decent with its good build quality and okay sound. However, there are issues with the mic and assistant that need improvement. The LED light could also be clearer, and a larger clock display would be nice.

I was disappointed after few days of use as I had an issue adding new skills/devices to be managed by Alexa as I got errors ( You are not eligible to enable this skill due to geographical restriction)…I was so surprised to receive a call from the support when they saw my review and provided extensive support, I found couple of issues on my settings and I can’t wait to go home to try the new recommendations,Once the new settings work, I’ll give 5 stars 😇

Its the clunky app thats putting this machine down
I can’t believe that Amazon doe not have an easy-to-use app. I have a Smartthings home linked to Google Assistant (with Google Home) and have devices from different brands (TAPO, IKEA, XIAOMI, Aqara etc) . I was thinking of buying an additional speaker for my kids room and wanted to try Alexa.The device, looks solid. It has the feature I was looking (a clock without a full screen). However I found that use of it is extremely difficult. After the second day, I am still trying to get the kids accounts configured.My biggest issue is that Alexa cannot do voice ID based on kids voices. So I have to assign the speaker to one of them. So the other kid gets upset. Having two speakers in the same room is not practical.I think Amazon is losing its edge in the smart assistant market. Maybe they should let Google or Smartthing to win and focus on something else

The Best Buy..
To start of with it’s easy to set up, looks cute, nice color and has a powerful sound. I was thinking to buy a speaker but I found this is the Best Buy instead of just a speaker it also let you use your voice commands to control a compatible device for features like streaming music, news reports, or even to turn on your smart lights and robot vacuum.
