Exactly what I needed for pet hair and the tiled kitchen.

This is perfect for hoovering up all those mysterious little bits that just appear on kitchen floors. It’s lightweight, easy to empty and holds a charge forever. Highly recommend this sweeper for the times you don’t want to drag the vaccuum out.

    For quick pick up

I am ordering my 3rd Bissell sweeper. My first one lasted the longest. Bought my second one December 2020. It already quit charging a month ago. But they are handy for small pickups so even though the price from my first one, which was $30 to my second one $39 to this one being more, I am going to purchase a 3rd.

Superb sweeper with outstanding battery life

This thing is fantastic. I’ve been using it fairly frequently for nearly two months on one charge. It is quiet enough to use outside a room people are sleeping in, and it does a great job on my medium-pile carpet and my hard floors. After the latest use it finally needs to charge again, but I am very impressed with how long it took to get to this point. I absolutely love this thing and I think it’s one of the best of many, many purchases I’ve made on this site. A few things to note, however:1. The instructions say to charge it for 16 hours before the first use and (iirc) 12 hours afterwards when it needs to charge. If you want good battery life, follow those instructions. Also, battery life is kind of a use-it-or-lose-it thing; let the battery get pretty low before you plug it in.2. This is not physically capable of getting stuff that’s in corners or on the very edge of the floor next to a wall, as its brushes do not extend all the way to the edge of the machine. Use a broom or the hand tools on your vacuum cleaner for that.3. To the people complaining in reviews about the “suction power” of this machine, this is NOT a vacuum cleaner, and is not intended to be a replacement for one! This is a motorized sweeper; a motor spins a roller brush which picks things up on the surface of the floor and deposits them in the dirt cup – there is NO suction power. This machine is made for picking up things (crumbs, dirt, hair, etc) on the surface of the floor, and it does a fantastic job of it. You will still need a vacuum cleaner to suck things out of corners and edges and deep in carpet fibers. If you’re looking for a vacuum cleaner, buy a vacuum cleaner. If you’re looking for a really good sweeper, buy this. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Must buy if you have long haired cats

I initially purchased this to make clean up around our four litter boxes a faster and cleaner process as well as help with the cleaning up the litter that gets tracked and caught on our area rugs. We have two long haired cats and a short hair. I was having to pull out our full sized vacuum twice a week to deal with the hair “tumble weeds” and tracked litter and always hated the feeling of stepping on a stray piece of tracked litter with my bare feet. Turns out my full sized vacuum was actually missing A LOT of hair. The first time I used this on the area rug in dining room I had to empty it four times. I’m now using it daily to clean up around the boxes and to sweep up any tracked litter and little bits of hair I can see. It’s still also pulling up a lot of hair off of our area rugs when I run it over them. I do have to pull hair off do the roller when I empty the bin, but I’m not too bothered by that. Overall I would consider this a must have if you have long haired pets, especially for the price.

The dirt collection cup does NOT empty easily. You will have to stick your finger in it to unclog. It should have an open/close design.

A lot better than I think a lot of people give it credit for.

I like to wait a while before I review products like this because it generally gives me not only an idea as to whether or not the item is going to last as well as how the item works- far more than anything else, I think that this is probably the most important thing that you can do with ANY piece of equipment so, impressions. We first purchased a Shark which was… alright except for the fact that the model that we got died on us within the first month. Twice. So, we tried a few other items over time with only so-so results before we got this Bissell.Right of the box, the Bissell seems to have the same older battery-model annoyances that apparently, all sweepers have- long charge time, susceptible to overcharging, has to be run down completely… You know, the usual. I’ve come to the conclusion over the course of my research that this has to be because it keeps the cost down by a substantial amount on the units themselves- after all, who wants to pay 100’s of $ just for something to run around the floor for a few minutes? So, yeah, I gotta agree with the choice all the manufacturers have made on this one: the charging requirements are annoying but, I wouldn’t pay the extra $ just so I could leave yet ANOTHER energy vampire device plugged into my wall 24/7 so that I can use it for 5 minutes here and there EITHER.Beyond that, as I’ve learned with other battery operated items that get used sporadically: don’t ever let the run-times fool you because ONLY day-to-day use can ever really determine how often you’ll REALLY need to charge it (for us this seems to come down to about 1 a month for this unit which is actually a lot less than the Shark we used to have- which lasted the longest). As to the power of the unit. Like others, I wouldn’t exactly call it “turbo” but then again, I just can’t see how having a super-powered “engine” in a sweeper could make the slightest difference to anyone other than Tim Allen. In my experience, as long as it’s powerful enough to sweep the little bits you’re trying to get rid of up and into the collection bin- bristle location, height and length? Waaaaay more important. Remember this is a SWEEPER, not a vacuum. The motor just turns the wheel, so any extra power only goes towards draining that battery faster. These things have NO SUCTION so there’s nothing that you CAN “turbo.”Still, because of the bristle length and bar-placement, I can understand how the ILLUSION of a “turbo” could be created to someone who thought that there was some suction going on because they are VERY well placed- at least for our low pile rugs and tiled floors. Seriously, unless it’s REALLY bad, one time is all I need to go over an area. In fact, while just about every sweeper that I’ve tried can get kitty liter, dried cat food, etc, this bad boy can get even the small stuff that the others would leave behind- like sawdust from off of a tiled floor- even from the little grout crevices (although admittedly that took two passes but in the Bissell’s defense, it WAS a lot of sawdust). Now we come to the above-mentioned bar that the bristles are attached to. I will have to admit that I didn’t see the point of it being red at first but, after the first time of having to clean it, I now understand that this is so that you can see the inevitable hair that ALWAYS seems to wrap itself around these things in both vacuums and sweepers alike.Since, over time, this can destroy your device, I have to admit that I appreciate both the fact that it’s red AND the fact that the collection bin is directly above it. This means that when the bin is pulled not only can you SEE all of those annoying and damaging hairs but that you can remove them a LOT easier than I have ever had to remove them from ANYTHING before. In all honest, since I’ve always had long hair, even if the Bissell had exploded on the very first use, I would STILL give that design choice a standing ovation. It’s just ingenious. Truly. Whatever mad and unnamed genius out there that seemed to have finally understood that a lot of women have long hair and what that means to all cleaning items that have bristle bars should be thanked! A thousand blessing upon you sir/madame!All joking aside, it really is a lot easier to clear the bristle bar on this Bissel then anything I’ve ever had to clear before. Just run the requisite box- cutter along each side and pull it free- no more having to remember which way the bar is supposed to turn so you can unwind a particularly nasty clump! Yay! And, speaking of cleaning, because the item is all-but open when you do pull out the collection bin, it’s really easy to wipe down- which means that it actually DOES get wiped down once in a while.Appearance-wise, I’m not 100% thrilled with the choice of clear plastic any more than I was with the bright red (and highly visible) bristle bar but, again, these were practical choices made for usage- not style and I have to admit that I’d rather something that worked than looked pretty. This brings us to the bane of ALL sweepers, everywhere: edges.Like all sweepers, edges do indeed give the Bissell a bit of a problem. Running it along the wall just isn’t going to get that little bit next to the baseboard, however, UNLIKE the other sweepers we’ve tried, the Bissell WILL get most of it, if you come at the area head-on. Granted, this means “bumping” the wall a few times as you work your way along it, but, this is still a vast improvement of other models we’ve tried because, this means that we’re only having to get the old-fashioned broom or (far more often these days) the little hand-held brush with the collection pan for the corners. This is a LOT less than the entire perimeter of the room- so, yeah, lots better. I think it’s just the way that sweepers have to be designed by their nature because most vacuums aren’t any better unless you pull out the wand either. So finally, the summary:PROS:Bristle length and bar placement are EXCELLENT for getting small things.Maintenance is easy including clearing the bristle-bar (THANK YOU KIND STRANGER!)Can edge a little with some fancy maneuvering.CONS:Fugly color design obviously chosen on purpose because it’s more effective (I’m for the easier to clean bristle bar but others might not agree)Battery is still the same-old annoying tech as all the others (other people might want to pay more for an easier to charge unit)Summary: There’s nothing, really that makes this unit stand out until you use it. It’s a sweeper. Some people are always going to want to make it work like a vacuum and, it can’t. Others are going to try to make it work like a broom and, it can’t. It’s just a sweeper. High piled rugs and carpets, edges and corners just aren’t the items you really want to reach for a sweeper to tackle and you don’t want to leave this thing plugged into the wall 24 hours a day. That being said, it’s a very GOOD sweeper. It picks up not only the big stuff that’s easy for bristles to catch onto but also little things. It handles both grout between tiles and low pile indoor/outdoor rugs wonderfully. It’s easy to see that the collection bin is full, easy to wipe down and clearing the bristle bar is a breeze (can NOT stress how important that is to those of us with long hair that try to keep our cleaning equipment in good repair). Battery life is decent and it’s very good for a quick run over the floors to keep them up.So: not a miracle worker but an extremely well-designed machine that works well.

Great vaccuum for quick clean up

I didn’t think that I would like this vacuum since it is definitely smaller than what I usually do. I used this to clean up after my guinea pig cage so it has to pick up hay and small object. I hate to use my big vacuum because it is bigger and heavier to pull out and has more of a filter so it doesn’t work great for that. This vacuum doesn’t have the filter – everything goes into a small container so I think it actually works better than the standard vacuum in those situations. I have also used it to pick up hair and small stuff and it works great for that.It isn’t great on carpet, but it doesn’t really say it is for that. It is perfect for hardwood and tile floors. I did discover that it only really picks things up when you are moving forward and doesn’t pick up well as you pull it back. Again not a big deal just something to adjust to.I love that it doesn’t take up much space so I actually have it out all the time and I find myself reaching for it on a regular basis. The container that collects everything is big enough to hold a decent amount and is super easy to empty. If you have pets or small children that are constantly leaving stuff on the floor I think this is far better than a typical vacuum and is easier to use than a broom

Comparing this Bissell to Ontel Swivel Sweeper

Okay, I’m going to be totally honest. My favorite cleaning rechargeable tool for floors has always been the Swivel Sweeper. It has been powerful and has done a thorough job of cleaning…everything I have needed. The downside for me is that I’ve gone through four of them over the past several years. After the last one died (too late to return), I finally said no more and looked for a better mouse trap. Well, after researching and finding few options that were rechargeable–not electric–I opted for this Bissell.I gave it 4 stars because I have not found it to do as good a job as the Swivel Sweeper. Probably not a fair assessment, as it should be judged on its own merits. So, judging this Bissell on its own merits, I have found it to be adequate and convenient. What is missing is the ability to clean edges, for instance, along the baseboards. The sweeping part does get close, but does not pull in debris from the sides. In order to clean those edges, you’re required to use the cleaning head straight on to the baseboard, furniture, or item with a straight edge. In comparison, the Swivel Sweeper does a masterful job on those edges. The down side of the Swivel Sweeper is the way it must be cleaned. The convenient removable brushes get totally covered with pet hair, and (in my cleaning process) I’ve had to remove and clean them after each use. I do have 5 cats and one dog, and I will admit to working that machine probably harder than most users would be required to do, which is why I decided I was asking too much of that machine. With the Bissell, the pros are:-The ease of using it.-It’s very quiet, so much more than the Swivel Sweeper.-While this cleaning tool must be considered a sweeper, and not a vacuum, it does a decent job of picking up dirt and debris–and the best part for me, kitty litter and pet hair…does a great job, here.-It is extremely easy to clean after use–can’t say enough about that! Pet hair does not cover the rotating brush, rather, what is on the brush is extremely easy to remove. And, emptying the dirt receptacle is a breeze! The cons:-Does not clean along straight edges. You must maneuver the machine, straight on, to do so.-Not as powerful as the Swivel Sweeper.-Does not have ability to turn or swivel. It must be used with only back and forth motions.Overall, I find the Bissell Perfect Sweep Turbo to do an adequate job for my needs. It seems to hold a charge longer than the Swivel Sweeper–Bissell says it goes an hour without recharging. I haven’t run out of power, yet, but after several uses, I fully recharge it.I do believe you would like this Bissell cleaner for regular, light-cleaning use. You must not have expectations that this sweeper will clean like a vacuum cleaner–which is is not. But, I would think that, for most users, it would perform adequately, or better.

    Better than expected

I bought this because I saw it in an video on the GuineaDad website being used to clean guinea pig liners. It works great for that, but we’ve been using it on our hard floors, our rugs, the carpet tiles in our garage. It picks up fur, timothy hay, guinea pig poop, cat litter, dead flies, catnip, etc. It’s easy to empty the bin, it’s not too noisy, though the cats still are wary of it. It is VERY static-y though, so the top gets covered in dust/fur and needs to be wiped off after each use. But really though, I consider this to be a great purchase.

    Like but don’t last long

I do like this machine. I think it works as intended and the dirt trap is easy to clean out. But the problem is that I’ve had to buy a number of replacements over the years. Since 2016 I’ve had 5 of these. My latest one had the plastic piece on the front break and I’ve had others that stop working. I think I’m done reordering because the one I just bought came and it’s clearly used and dirty. But I put the handle together and now I can’t get it apart and return without paying for that. I can’t get a used product of something that doesn’t last to begin with. I really wish these things lasted because I do like the machine. It’s good for in between cleaning messes you have with kids. I think if you’re ok with buying it and enjoying it for a year or two for this decent price than go for it. I did use it every day.

    Works Great & Quickly

I’m very impressed with this electric broom. It really does pickup a lot of misc dirt from the ground from leaves to dirt from shoes. It quickly picked up all the pine needles after I put away my fake Christmas tree. It’s actually faster than sweeping. Emptying the tray is also quick and easy. So far incredibly please and happy I purchased this.

    vacuum cleaner

This is a cross between a floor sweeper and a vacuum cleaner, but it works a lot better than a sweeper. This is exactly what I wanted. Something that was very light, didn’t make much noise, easy to put together and simple to use. It isn’t as expensive as others types. This is not a vacuum cleaner and does not work like a vacuum cleaner. It’s meant to clean up small spills, but it works great on hard floors. I love that it is rechargeable.

    My 3rd one!

I love this thing. It is cheap and it really does the trick for quick clean ups. I don’t love using a broom and this does a great job. It doesn’t always get the corners, but it gets 95% of what I would like it to and it does carpets well if it just has crumbs on the top! This is my third one I’ve bought. I mean it is a cheap vacuum, but they’ve lasted an average of 2 years which honestly a $40 investment for 2 years? A good bargain if you ask me!

    Better than expected!

So, this was way better than I expected it to be. It is so quiet and I didn’t think it had a lot of suction power, but I used it on my tile floors and area rugs and holy heck did it pick up a lot more than I thought was there. Don’t expect this to replace a real heavy-duty vacuum- this is basically a Swiffer Dry Mop with a little bit of suction when it comes down to it. So, I’ve replaced my daily swiffering with this little cutie, and so far it’s doing a great job. Note that if you are or live with someone or a pet with long hair, you are going to need to clean/cut the hair off the roller after each use or it will not be effective. It does pick up the hair, though, really well. So, with a bit of maintenance after each use, this thing is really great to replace a daily swiffering. 🙂

    I love it!

We have 3 dachshunds, an English Mastiff, & 1 cat. Since there’s hardwood throughout the house I’m constantly sweeping/vacuuming, and mopping & it takes forever. This little vacuum is great for getting under furniture and along baseboards. I use it in between my deep cleanings. It’s lightweight and has good power. My only complaint is the canister is a little difficult to get out and empty.

I thought Bissell was supposed to be a “upper-level” brand

I had a cheap little B&D sweeper that i had for year before it died. I thought this Bissell turbo sweeper would be a nice upgrade to the B&D (not much bigger than a swiffer) that I liked ….not so mush….while the Bissell turbo sweeper may have initially had a little more power it faded quickly. The Bissell battery did not last as long, it was twice as think and could not go under furniture as easily. While the Bissell turbo sweeper has a larger collection bin it was not the easiest or cleanest to empty (B&D wins hands down in that department). When you do pull out the collection bin there is a tray under it that still has dirt & debris on it. Careful when you turn the sweeper over to try and empty that part too as half of that debris will end up back on your floor. not a good design.

The GuineaDad page uses this so I thought I would try it out. It works great for picking up loose hay on the floor and for cleaning up the GuineaDad bedding before putting in the washer. It even picks up his hair. It is also great for in-between vacuuming as well as my hard wood floors.

It does the job better than that old Hoover vac

There I said it, the vacuum cleaner is old; therefore, instead of trying to search the web for replacement parts and repair shops, I thought I would give this sweeper a go.No, I do not regret buying it. (The 5-star rating explains that pretty much.) There are quite a few things I like about it:1. It is almost silent: If I were to compare it to that Hoover vac, which sounds slightly less loud than a fighter jet, this sweeper is quiet enough for me to have a dialog with somebody.2. It is cordless: The freedom of motion is very important. I remember the old vac was giving me hard time with its cord. I don’t care if it is long enough to go through half the house. It unplugged quite a few times. It also was uncomfortable to move the cord around to get it out of the way. I don’t have that problem anymore. No cord… well… no bother. By the way, I recharged the battery twice already. Yet, both charging times were less than 16 hours.3. It is light: You are given two options: either move it around the obstacle, or pick it up and take it over the obstacle. (You can also move the obstacle itself, if it is possible.) I choose the second option more often than not, because the sweeper is light and cordless.4. It is compact: If I have to get down on my knees to clean a certain small area, all I have to do is to detach the long handle and than take care of that small area. (Yet, it was almost impossible to clean such small areas with the old beast I keep mentioning.)5. It is affordable: There is no need for me to advise you to look around the web and compare the prices of different vacuum cleaners. The price of this sweeper and its good ability to clean my place make me happy. There are, however, two negative aspects I noticed:1. Certain obstacles: The obstacles, such as the wires. If the brush catches a thin wire, an immediate shut-down is required. Once, even some thick cord was in the way and the sweeper had started to make the loud roaring noise. It caused some delay then and there. (That cord was under the dining table and I could not see it and avoid it in time.)2. The small dirt container: When cleaning a large area, it maybe necessary to empty the container more than once. While it is no big deal, it causes an interruption of the smooth cleaning process. The bottom line is, it is a handy, compact appliance, which cleans the rugs amazingly well. (The very first time I used it, I was surprised by the amount of hair it picked up.) I have not tried cleaning my car with it yet, but I am very well aware of what to expect. It has just made my life easier!!!

    Lacks power

This electric broom is such a disappointment. I had hoped that I would find something inexpensive and easy to use to pick up crumbs etc. You can’t pick everything up with this as it will not suck it up. The battery has to be charged for 16 hours prior to use. Even with the 16 hours + of charge it seems like there is not much power when using. You can’t use this to get things around the edges of your baseboard or in corners. You need to push the item away from the corner in order for it to get picked up. Also, not so great on throw rugs. When trying to get dry dog food off a rug in the kitchen a corner was caught in the brush and it shredded the rug corner. You are better off buying a stick vacuum that’s cheaper and more effective. The only thing I liked about this vacuum is that there was no cord to deal with. My concern now is that the battery will quickly stop charging and it will be another item labeled as junk and thrown into the trash. I was excited to try this electric broom and thought it would be a good way to have my younger daughter help do chores. But, you have to go over the same area with crumbs etc on the floor to just pick it up. This would work good for a floor that is already cleaned well but has a few things on the floor. Not for use when you actually need to sweep your floor, doesn’t do the job well enough. I have to now go back and use a broom to get around the edges and under cabinets.

    There’s no turbo

I wanted to love this. I love almost every Bissell product I have. But this one did not stand up to its name. We moved into a new home that has 3500 square-foot of floors and I was looking for a simple vacuum for downstairs and upstairs. I purchased this one first, and while it does work, there really just isn’t much power. When I first tried it, I assumed the battery was low, so I plugged it in for a few hours, but no matter what, there really just isn’t much power. It can pick things up. It’s fine at picking up dust and dirt in large pieces, but it does have a harder time with the smaller things on your floor. In the kitchen, I have floors that have a grout line in between. And this vacuum does not seem to be powerful enough to reach it.I’m going to keep it, because I bought it and it works. But it is definitely not something that I would buy again,

    Does it job

Acquired two black kittens and boy are they messy. I got tired of taking out and plugging in my stick vac to clean up around the litter box and food area and vacuuming fur and people hair around the house. This makes for quick cleanup. I thought the suction would be louder but it’s pretty quiet and not as scary for the cats as the stick vac or larger vac. I use this in tangent with dry swiffer to get into the corners. It was able to pick up small debris on low area rugs but not great for thick carpet or rugs. Only had it a few days and have not to charge again, so waiting until the vac is about the die to charge.

    Pretty Good

Good supplemental cleaning between running the upright or the roomba. Bissell, here’s how you could make it better: 1) slightly larger roller brush to better clean hard floors; 2) lithium battery instead of ancient technology ni-cad; 3) a usb-c charging port instead of proprietary barrell port charging system.

    I’m impressed!!

First of all, I noticed how lightweight this broom is. It was very easy to put together and came with good instructions. However, the instructions regarding charging were apparently very wrong! In two places it stated that when charging was complete, the “light will NOT go off.” It did state that the first charge should take about 16 hours. Both of those statements were wrong. After about 9 hours, the light did go off. I was so confused when I plugged it in because the instructions also said that when the charge is complete to disconnect it. How do I know when it’s complete if the light doesn’t go off?? At any rate, I was very happy that it did go off and I knew that I could use it, which I did. I was very impressed with how well it picked up everything. In fact, I had just swept and vacuumed yesterday and this unit still picked up quite a bit of stuff, especially off of the low-pile carpet. That means that this is even better than the ShopVac that I used yesterday! The problem that lead me to buying this sweeper was that the ShopVac did not have a long enough stiff handle and I was stooping over a lot. After doing one room my back would hurt quite a bit. I am happy to say that after doing the entire home, all five rooms, my back was just fine. The handle is plenty long enough that I don’t have to stoop over. I am tickled pink that this rechargeable broom worked out so well. I absolutely LOVE IT.

    Quiet operation

This is nice and quiet. It doesn’t bother the cats like a regular sweeper does. It picks up dust bunnies and small items on the floor. It would be nicer if it got into corners and edges better.

    Slow Roller

After 20 years with a manual carpet sweeper, my hopes were high to find something battery powered that does more work for me. I was disappointed by this Bissel AND Black & Decker’s best. With the heritage in vacuums, the Bissel should have been better at edge cleaning, crumb pickup, carpet to hardwood transition, and dirt cup emptying. I ran it through its paces which included two full recharges. The Bissel moves forward/backward better than the B&D but it’s rotating brush bar is significantly slower. In both, cleaning doesn’t get past, or even up to, the edge of the base unit. Engineering counts and repair people tell me the 2000’s were the golden age in appliances for that. So, the “dinosaur” stays in the cubbard.Suddenly, the extra elbow grease for the great results using the “powerless” manual doesn’t seem so bad. The German engineering of my 20 year old Leifheit Exclusive (now extinct), manual carpet sweeper could be adjusted easily for floors and carpets. It had two forward spindles with long bristles that got beyond the body of the unit to attack edges. The main roller was so good, it came with a device to pull out hair/threads and easily dumped its dirt cup. Even the B&D included that but its rolling ability on carpet was too poor to keep it.The ultimate example of poor design, the back breaker for the Bissel 28806 “Perfect” Sweep Turbo, was when I had to stick my fingers into the dirt cup to pull out two dust bunnies. Check please!! ;-( ~ErgonomicsDr.com

If this had a swivel handle it would be darned close to perfect!

Great for in between vacuuming. Picks up cat litter but not the rugs. Dust cup could be a little easier to grip for emptying, but I am old and my hand strength is not what it used to be. Cup does not fall open on your feet! Nice feature after trying other types of sweepers.

Will buy something else next time…

I use this sweeper for picking up cat litter on a concrete floor. It does a great job picking up the little pieces on that surface; I even tried it on carpeting and it picks up pet hair really well too. Some of the issues with this unit though, are: 1) the length of the handle isn’t quite long enough for taller people 2) the power light stays on all the time, even when it is completely powered up, and it has a long recharge cycle 3) it’s difficult to remove the dust tray, and when you do, some of the cat litter stays in the vacuum itself, so you have to dump the vacuum as well, and it’s hard to dump the tray too 4) the on/off button is placed at a strange angle, so it’s hard to turn it on and off easily—at first, I thought it was broken, but eventually was able to turn it on. Will look for another vacuum when this one conks out.

A powered sweeper, not a vacuum cleaner and perfect for what it is designed to do.

First things first. A sweeper is not a vacuum cleaner. Anyone purchasing this thinking that they are buying a low-cost vacuum cleaner needs to understand that this is not that kind of product. It is a sweeper and that’s it.That out of the way, the term “Turbo” is a bit misleading. The product is a “powered” sweeper, meaning that unlike most sweepers, the brush that picks up loose stuff is powered by batteries and, it is not a speed demon. There are no specifications in the documentation that specify the rpm of the brush, but it is reasonable for a sweeper. It does not beat a rug to death. The batteries consist of a rechargeable Ni-Cd battery pack. It is not easily accessible and not intended to be replaced. And, being a Ni-Cd, it is subject to the usual and customary Ni-Cd problems (developing a charging ledge or resistance to being fully charged). The documentation describes the process of overcoming this problem. The capacity of the dirt cup is small, so if you are sweeping up a lot of small things, you’ll need to empty it frequently. Don’t worry, it is easily emptied. Now to the good stuff. It works very well on hard surfaces, picking up the small stuff (don’t try to pick up marbles or a large objects). The clear dirt cup allows you to see the system in action and judge when to empty the thing.Over carpets, if it has been a while since the carpet has been vacuumed, you’ll pick up a lot of dust. If the carpet has not been vacuumed a lot since it was installed, you’ll pick up a lot of lint, which means you’ll need to empty the dirt cup a lot more often.Strings are a problem for most any vacuum, since they can build up around the rotating brush. I don’t know about some of the newer units, but this has always been a problem. And clearing the strings from a vacuums brush is a real chore. First, the vacuum is usually quite heavy, and you have to turn the thing upside down to get to the brush. In the case of this sweep, the brush is easily accessed when the dirt cup is pulled for emptying. Because the sweeper is light, compared to a vacuum, it is easily picked up where the brush can be cleaned easily. I balance mine on the edge of the garbage and pluck the strings out of the brush and toss them in the garbage. The secret to taking care of strings that get wrapped around the brush is to clean the brush each time you empty the dirt cup.One of the advantages is that the handle can be unscrewed and the unit used easily on stairs. For carpeted stairs, this actually works better than most hand vacuums, and because it is light and portable, it can even be used in the car for the mats. Again, it is not a vacuum, so there is no suction involved.Initial charging is 16 hours. and twelve for each recharge. Bissell was smart and does not use a quick charge system, but instead uses a lower current charge cube, which extends the overall battery life. The documentation is complete with plenty of information about operating the product and what to avoid. For what it is intended to do (be a powered sweeper), it is an ideal product. A real winner in my book that can be used in place of hauling out the vacuum and fighting with the power cord and all the accessories. A quicker picker upper than the vacuum.

    Confusing information regarding charging sweeper

This info is “ “ in the instruction booklet. I am charging for the first time “at least 16 hours” ( but how do I know when it’s done?) There is no light indicator to tell me when sweeper is fully charged. …. But “When charging is complete, be sure to unplug the Perfect Sweep TURBO from the charger.” I will give this a chance, but it sounds like Bissell should invest in a more reliable way to monitor the charge on the sweeper!

    Can’t imagine life without it

I will say that this the second one I’ve owned. The first one was given to me as a gift and stopped working in less than 6 months. However, having 2 young children and crumbs everywhere, I discovered that I could no longer go back to life without my turbo sweeper. This thing is AMAZING. My only cons would be that it doesn’t get edges/corners very well. But it is FAR FAR superior to sweeping and cuts the time in half, if not more.HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend if you have toddlers.

The only thing better will cost ten times more (at least)

I was hesitant. I already have a great vacuum (with a cord, that was very affordable by the way) to vacuum my 2000 sq ft of tile. I looked at a sweeper for about a year. I wish I had bought it a long time ago! Sure I bet a $500 cordless stick vacuum also works better than a broom, and even better than this. But this is all I need. I’ve tried other corded stick vacuums, and I like this sweeper better (a fraction of the price also). I don’t mind getting the corded canister vac out when I need toDeep clean. But I hang this sweeper up on the broom hook and it works better better than a broom too. Faster, more thorough, generates less dust, etc. it’s quiet. The battery lasts along time even for someone that uses it every day, a couple times a day. Recharging is super easy. My search is over. I will never buy an expensive stick vacuum now that I’ve seen that this sweeper works so well. For those of you that don’t know what a sweeper is, it sweeps. It doesn’t vacuum. And this unit sweeps fast and it really gets everything a broom can. It’s like a super effective broom. And I’m sure it doesn’t get allergen level dust but it gets sand and hair and glitter etc- If broom can get it this will, just faster and more thorough in one a singlePass without generating dust and pushing thing around the room several times to make a pile (another reason this is fast isn’t just the motorized brush it’s the fact that your not making a pile). I can’t live without this now. I’ve only had it a week, but it’s what I’ve been wanting all along. I hope it stands the test of time but I’ve had other Bissel products and they offer great service and replacement parts and they honor their warranty.

Very Convenient, Quiet Electric Broom Replacement at a Good Price

I bought this to replace a corded Electric Broom that broke. The Bissell Perfect Sweep is lighter duty, but much quieter, lighter and CORDLESS! We have owned it for a couple months and find it very effective cleaning multiple surfaces, wood, tile and even carpets (to some extent). This does not replace a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar for going over carpets. The Bissell is easy to empty and connect to the charger. My suggestions to Bissel would be to incorporate: 1) a battery level indicator, and 2) an integrated wall hanger/charger connection. instead of just a plug-in changer cube and wire. We do struggle with trying to find a good place to put it because it doesn’t come with a wall hook/hanger.

    What a nice surprise!

This is a replacement for a Shark rechargeable sweeper I’ve had for several years. That one got tired and I looked to replace it with another Shark. But Shark’s price inflated so I looked for alternatives. I have a Bissell Air Ram which I love and decided on this sweeper, almost half the price of the Shark I found. I love it! It picks up litter and dog kibble with ease, as well as pet hair and lots of dust I can’t see. It’s easy to empty and the charge lasts at least 45 minutes. I use it every day and charge it once a week or so. It leaves groom marks on my carpet, tho it doesn’t deep clean it. I’m so happy with it and I hope it lasts a long long time!

Got this to use on my hardwood floors and area rugs. My vacuum was sucking up my area rugs but this does a great job. Works well on the hard floors too. I had this same sweeper before. It is quiet and does the job. The funny thing about this one is that it came already charged. The instructions say to charge it for 12 hr prior using it. So, is it new? I ordered new. Anyhow, I am going to keep it, it is in pristine condition. I will use it mostly on my area rugs, but on the floors too. Between heavy vacuuming.

    Cleaning Up After Guinea Pigs

After seeing this sweeper featured in a Guinea Dad short, I bought it with high hopes of making nightly clean up easier.PROS: It has definitely sped up nightly clean up (as compared to a dustpan and broom). I have noticed 75% less hair on the lint trap in the dryer, so it snatches up that guinea pig fuzz quite nicely. After charging, I have been using it three weeks for nightly cleanups without having to recharge. It’s cordless, which is fantastic!CONS: The suction is powerful enough to suck up the edges of the liners, but not always strong enough to pick up long hay pieces, so beware. The debri trap has to be emptied 1-2 times per cage cleaning because it fills up fast with hay. Works well on carpets and GD Liners, but not well on vinyl floors.Overall, I think it’s well worth the price and it works well on Guinea Dad liners. I am quite pleased with my purchase.
