    My cat is obsessed.

I will preface this by saying my car isn’t a very picky eater, she’ll eat any flavor of dry or wet food usually* (adding the astrics because since she was a little tot, I’ve only ever fed her Blue Buffalo, so different flavors from that brand). I’ve always tried to feed her quality food, and decided to do more research on what else is out there, and if I could find something that’s truly the best. This stuff IS the best, and my cat goes crazy over it.The cans are slightly larger than usual wet food cans and last about 4 meals. My cat has boycotted her dry food (I just switched to Fromm, which she really liked as well), and refuses to eat the leftover Blue wet food. She only wants this stuff. I hate myself for introducing her to it because it’s nearly a million dollars.Just a warning: she did vomit a couple times when I first introduced it to her, but it’s normal if a cats stomach isn’t used to heavy/hearty meals.EDIT: I noticed some people mentioning bones and chunks in the food… Cats eat birds and snakes and mice. Do y’all really think that they don’t have any bones? Sheesh.

    My cat approves

I changed my cats diet to meat only a few months ago after doing a ton of research trying to figure out why he was gaining so much weight, shedding so bad, and using his litter box so much. I learned cats are obligate carnivores, which I guess means they don’t have the enzymes to digest carbs, which can lead to all sorts of issues if you’re feeding a store bought brand of kibble like I was. Even a high quality (er cost) one, like I was. Anyway I suggest researching the topic yourself even if your cat isn’t experiencing health issues, but especially if he/she is. Of the three I bought, ZiwiPeak Lamb, Tiki Cat Chicken and Primal Instinct Chicken Limited Ingredient Diet, this ZiwiPeak is the only one he’ll eat, I’m guessing because it contains Tripe, which tastes great to cats and gives them the enzymes they need to digest the carbs in the preys gut. He won’t even eat it if I mix the others with it in an eighth portion. Hopefully I can get someone to buy the other two, such a waste for something so expensive. BTW all of my cats symptoms have gone away, even has some playful energy back (he’s an older cat so I don’t expect much), and he uses the litter less and it doesn’t wreak when he does!

    Best Food on the market

The media could not be loaded.

My cat Sassy is 17 years old, she is allergic to chicken and fish, it’s been so difficult to find a food that doesn’t have some form of chicken or fish in it, way down the ingredient label. I was a little nervous about lamb as she would throw up a raw lamb food I tried to transition her on, but this she loves this and she’s transitioned beautifully on it. I love that that there is no junk in it, can is bpa free, it’s a little expensive but I find she doesn’t eat as much because it’s so pure? She also loves the venison, I’ve always had her on a high quality food, since I adopted her at age 5, she was on Hills KD because her vet said her kidney levels were on the high end of normal! I immediately took her off and transitioned to a high quality canned food and raw food, and she thrived, healthier coat etc.. but at 17, I’m actually seeing an even healthier coat, a gorgeous gold, that is typical of bengals, it’s amazing. I’m so happy and she’s very happy.

    Disappointing

I’ve been searching frantically for a food that is human-grade and biologically appropriate for my cat. I’d cook for him myself but he’s such a picky eater that whatever I cook goes in the trash. He only nibbles on it.So my searches got me to this product. When I opened and warmed it up it smelled fresh lamb. This indicates good meat not by-products. My cat also seems to.like the taste. So kudos on the recipe. 👍But then I found tens of bone shards in the food as seen in the photo. This really upset me. These bone fragments can scratch the gums or throats if accidentally swallowed. I have to be very careful searching for these fragments everytime. Not ok!! 😠For the price and claim of high quality, there shouldn’t be bone fragments in the food. Especially for my toothless senior cat. I would advise thinking twice before paying a hefty amount over this product. You may end up paying some more for tooth repairs and/or intestinal treatments.

Cat Loves no Bones about it

My cat suffers from IBD and have gone thru over 8 formulas trying to find the best for her. And this is the best thing for her condition and have cut down the litter box visits from 4 to 1 a day. However, be mindful of the amount of bones in the can. Since she is over 16 years of age I want to make sure I am not adding to her ailment. So I have to pick out with a tweezer the bones in each can. As you can see some of these bones are almost almost a full milliliter. So when you do purchase this, I highly recommend you notice the amount of bones when you serve it.

GAME CHANGER – MY CATS NEVER HAVE BEEN BETTER

I have two senior cats and have been struggling to find the right diet for them – I went to multiple vets and tried canned brands, raw, etc..I tried ZIWI based on my latest vet’s advice and online reviews. It was seriously a game changer: besides the fact that my cats love the taste, they are more energetic, mobile and have the most beautiful fur. That’s how I know it’s the result of switching to ZIWI: my cats used to suffer from dandruff, no food complements (oil, etc.) would work, and I needed to bath them regularly – since ZIWI, the dandruff is GONE!It may be on the somewhat pricey side, but frankly, it’s more than worth it. To manage my budget, I use 1 ZIWI can in the morning that they share, and then at night kibbles 3 days a week and a ZIWI can 4 days a week. It helps me stay within my budget. I used a fun feeder with the kibble so that they eat it slowly and get some playtime.100% recommended.

Highly recommend for food allergy or intolerance

Perfect for my food allergy cat..great smell and my cats loves this food! After searching and going through so many other brands and kinds of food..this is the only one my cat can tolerate without flaring up with allergies. I’m so thankful I found this. It’s worth a try if your cat has food intolerance or food allergies of any kind. I highly recommend it.

The only catfood mine will eat

I have a paralyzed kitty (who is also the world’s pickiest eater) who has special dietary needs and I am not joking when I say this is literally the only brand/flavor that she will consistently eat. I’ve tried EVERYTHING because she tends to get tired of food randomly sometimes and for no given reason, and this is the only one that she likes. Sometimes when I run out, I go into full- blown panic mode because I know the next day or two is going to be struggle to find something she likes until it comes in. I typically give her one can a day – 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening – and add supplements to it which she doesn’t seem to mind either.

Species Appropriate Diet and an ideal choice if your cat won’t eat raw

After stumbling on Dr. Lisa Pierson’s site “CatInfo.Org” I gained a real eye-opening experience into why main stream cat food was not working for my kitties. ZiwiPeak is a very expensive and premium cat food- a Species Appropriate Diet food, which in my opinion is worth it. There are no fillers unless you get the old recipe that has carrageenan in it, which has been replaced with guar gum. It is one of the highest pure, high quality protein foods on the market with organs, bone, New Zealand green mussel plus vitamins and minerals. I had been interested in putting my cats on a raw food, species appropriate diet but was unsure if investing in the grinder & supplements was the best way to go. Instead, I purchased a premium frozen raw food from Feline’s Pride which was major expensive after shipping, which kitty pretty much rejected right away; I was never able to ease him into it. I ended up giving it away to friend with a young kitty who is delighted- AND THRIVING- on it. Still being passionate about getting my obese cat on proper food, we tried multiple flavors of ZiwiPeak & this is the 1 he likes. Because it has bones in it, it can cause constipation in some cats so you have to work around that. It’s also high in phosphorus so if you have a cat with renal disease, use caution, not good for advanced CRF. Since it has no carbs, his weight is coming steadily down, as long as I can keep him out of the Friskies kitty crack the old cat will only eat!

post surgery diet choice. However, high in fat.

because of the price tag, I had never made up my mind placing an order.recently my cat ate a foreign object and had an intestine surgery. For her recovery, I bought my 1st pack of ziwipeak. The food is made of simple ingredients, no hard to pronounced chemicals. It is important for me to offer simple and nutritious food for my cat to recover. After the surgery, ziwipeak will continue to be served on1 can per month bases. And probably will be served more often when my cat enters her senior years.minus one star is because of the fat percentage. Hope they can lower the fat percentage a bit for the future product. After feeding ziwipeak to my cat for 2-3 weeks, I noticed my cat’s hair magically got softer, especially the body hair. Prior to my cat’s surgery, she was in a very big variety of cat food diet plan: 10 brand of canned food, 7 brand of dry food, and 1 freezerdried, yet non of them made her hair soft. Since this OhmyOhmygodThatIsAmazing effect, I have decided to always include ziwipeak in my future purchasing list. Maybe on a 2-3 canns per month basis.

    The best quality, hands down

My four felines LOVE ZiWi canned, esp the chicken and the beef. I don’t love the price (it’s about $5 per can!) but their health and happiness has to come first for me so I’ll make do elsewhere. The ingredients are unmatched and the New Zeland wholesomeness is also unmatched. It’s NEVER ever been recalled and that should tell you something. Highly recommended.

    Best Cat Food

I bought this because my two year old cat started having urinary issues, even after switching to the prescription cat food my vet put him on (first he had crystals in his urine, then bladder inflammation resulting in a mucus plug blocking his urine. Ugh).I considered putting him on a raw diet, but was a little freaked about the salmonella recalls raw food companies seem to frequent. I did tons of research and found Ziwi, and it really seems to be the best out there. The ingredients are unbeatable. And though I haven’t seen any bone chunks, YES, there’s bone it. Cats eat bones in the wild. It’s good for them. He’s only been eating this for two weeks, so I can’t comment on if it’ll help his pee problems yet, but I will say he LOVES this stuff. He’s not a picky cat, so he does love most food, but he seems to especially like this stuff. I feed him one 6.5 oz can a day plus a little of the prescription dry kibble from the vet (he’s a 12 pounder). It is expensive, but so worth it because 1. Hopefully it’ll help avoid costly vet bills and 2. You wouldn’t feed your kids only McDonald’s just because it’s cheaper. When I adopted my cat I did so to give him a good, healthy life.I’ll update in a few months if he’s avoided anymore urinary issues!

Well above average canned cat food with high quality ingredients..

I feed this canned food as part of a very old Tibetan Spaniel’s rotation diet along with the mostly non-fish based Tiki brand canned foods. She is 17 and likes/tolerates very few commercial or homemade foods. This she eats fairly well, though she does prefer the broth and shredded meat Tiki formulas to pates. I like her to eat ZiwiPeak as well because of the higher levels of organ meats, something lacking in most of the Tiki formulas except their “After Dark” line.Ziwi’s ingredient lists are sometimes inconsistent, on some agar agar is listed and sometimes chick peas. Other lists don’t have either. My current case doesn’t list taurine among the ingredients, possibly an oversight in the printing, not vital for a dog, and my cats don’t get it as an exclusive diet (their main foods are frozen mice, chicks, and quail supplemented with some canned and freeze dried raw). All in all the brand seems very high quality and unlike Tiki relies on food ingredients more than supplements. Premium ingredients naturally at a premium price. Worth it in my opinion.Update- According to the manufacturer there is more than enough naturally occurring taurine in the food due to the high meat and organ content. This makes sense and explains why it is not listed as a supplement. Most cat foods require supplemental taurine due to borderline (or virtual lack of) meat/organ ingredients.

If you want the best (canned food) for your cats, Ziwi is the way to go.

If there’s one thing me and all my cats can agree on, it’s that we all love Ziwi products.💕 I give my cats basically the whole Ziwi line, from every flavors of canned food to their kibbles to treats, and they haven’t turn their snobbish noses to any of them!!! My fellow cat parents will understand how rare this is, and no, I’m not one of those cat moms who got lucky and adopted chill cats who’ll eat whatever. My cats are the pickiest, snobbiest, spoilest of all cats when it come to their food.I’m also extremely picky with ingredients when it comes to food for my fur babies. 80% of their diet is raw, pasture raised and/or organic, meat. I use Ziwi canned food to alternate when they get sick of raw meat or when I’m in a rush.Of all the canned cat food I’ve researched, Ziwi has the absolute best source of ingredients. All their meat are free range from NZ, made in small batch with no harmful chemical additives or fillers. The chicken flavor is also their most favorite out of all the flavors. Lamb would be second, I think. They were obsessed with the lamb/mackerel for a few months, but then they over did it and are now boycotting that flavor for a while. 😅So.. if you want the absolute best (canned food) for your cats, Ziwi is definitely the way to go.

Huge lumps fat in some cans

Ziwi is an excellent company I support. However, in many of the beef canned food for cats there is a large percentage of fat lumps pebbled in. Quality control should be involved to make sure some cattle raisers do not allow their beef to be bulked up with slabs of fat when ground as it is unsafe for felines and canines when not in the wild but in cans where it coagulates and is dangerous for them. Purchased it twice, and only a few cans had normal ground beef while all the others had slabs, streaks, pebbles thoroughly mixed in that were impossible to remove and almost one-third of the can contents. They must have slipped through inspection as the fat was so visible. Hopefully this is not a new change in the product. If so, I will no longer buy it or the brand.

New recipe is fine but requires some patience

First of all, I was like others voicing concerns over the change in recipe — my kitty did not enjoy the new version of lamb and would leave some of his bowl unfinished. However, I can confidently give this new recipe 5 stars now. It did take a few weeks of serving the new food for him to come around but he has gone back to his usual gobbling up the bowl. In fact, we’ve discovered he has a new favorite now, the Mackerel & Lamb. The bowl is literally licked clean which he didn’t even do with the old recipe.Something to keep in mind is that anyone would be hard pressed to find a better cat food than Ziwipeak. This version is actually better for cats than the old one because it has even less chemicals. I’d be shocked if someone was able to find another brand with better ingredients than Ziwipeak (if you find one though please let me know, lol). Our kitty has digestive issues and so me and my husband have done extensive research into the best food for his diet. Ziwipeak is still the best. Smells the same as before and the color change isn’t really a huge deal. It’s worth noting that just because your cat turns their nose up to something, doesn’t mean it’s bad. Cats absolutely loathe change and that is why it’s recommended to gradually transition to a new food. If you are switching to the new recipe cold turkey then try to be patient. 🙂

Great for my cat with IBD

This is the only food my cat can tolerate with her IBD. This product allows me to not have to give her steroids. I did hear that the company was sold and was now located in China. I really hope they don’t change anything with the food because it will cause a very negative impact on my cats health. I also think if they start toying with ingredients they will have to change the price point because I pay an arm and a leg for this food. I won’t be doing that if the food doesn’t work for my cat.

Mostly great but kitten vomited certain flavor, will try another flavor

Two of my cats love Ziwi for years. One of them unfortunately passed away suddenly. I adopted new kittens and they all love this flavor, but one of them (7 month old) vomited profusely after eating the mackerel flavor. I will try giving her a different flavor, hopefully she can tolerate it because Ziwi has the best ingredients.

I ordered 2 packs of 12 and they gave me 2 cans, I called Amazon and they sent me 2 cans again.I had to make a call again and every time I call it takes me at least an hour waiting for nothing.Amazon customer service is useless, and Ziwi shipping people are useless.I don’t understand what’s happening and it sucks.Ziwi people, if you can’t tell the difference between 2 cans and 2 packs, maybe you should stop e commerce and open physical stores, hire people who can count, or don’t.

So disappointed in the new formula.

I have been on a mission for a year to help my severely allergic cat find the right food. He has been kibble fed for 6 years and refused to make the transition to wet food. I tried everything and continued to scrape it in the garbage until I tried Ziwi Peak venison. To my astonishing amazement I watched him eat this! He had no allergic reaction at all. I was over the moon happy I found this product until i ordered my 2nd case. The label on the 1st case said 93% meat, bone, and organ. The 2nd case said 92%. The ingredients listed were different and in a different order. The biggest difference being water added instead of venison broth. I have the most finicky cat alive and this was enough for him to yet again turn his nose up to eating it. I now have an $87 case of food my cat won’t eat. This is very upsetting since it is alot money. I am sad about the recipe change and just shake my head as I look for a new food he can tolerate.

Cat smells it then tries to bury it

I’ve raised my cat on wet food and dry food. She won’t touch this stuff, she takes one smell and tries to flip over the bowl and dig a hole in the carpet to bury it. Very funny to watch, but unfortunately the food appears worthless. I’ve even tried recommendations like heating it up, putting tuna juice on it, dried liver. No luck.

Comes highly recommended by Gordon the Ambassador

High quality, and it’s a literal lifesaver for my cat with IBD. Gordon (nicknamed the Ambassador because he is the most friendly cat ever, with wonderful social skills with strangers, other cats, dogs and even the occasional wandering possum) absolutely loves it, and it’s working very well for him. He is putting weight back on, his coat looks better, he’s not throwing up anymore, and he is clearly feeling infinitely better. Our other cat, Tater (named for her early-kittenhood preference for tidbits of baked potato stolen off a dinner plate) who does not have IBD is loving the new food supply so much that she hangs around the house much more often now! In my personal experience, this is an excellent choice. It has no strange chunks in it like another reviewer reported, the texture is good, and it has a pleasant smell as far as cat food is concerned. It’s also extending the life of a very beloved cat, so it has earned five stars and my gratitude.

Great for my cat with diet issues when prescription food not available.

My cat has lymphoma (in remission) and has a sensitive digestive system. She was eating Royal Canin PV which is a limited protein food containing only venison. However, it has been hard to get during the pandemic. This food is nearly all venison and she tolerates it well. Also seems to prefer the taste to the prescription diet!

The Best on the market! Definitely recommend!

Very very good food, probably the best on the market, there are so many bad pet food, so now I’m only feeding my cat Ziwi canned food. The food makes my cat’s stool stays in shape and has no smell. My kitty loves all the flavors. A good way to evaluate wet food is to see if the food’s color is similar to the meat’s original color. For example, Ziwi peak’s chicken canned food looks and smells exactly like chicken, my friend said my cat’s food makes her want to try lol. The food makes him strong, muscular, big and maintains his silk rabbit fur =P. It’s expensive yes but it’s totally worth. Vet bills are much more expensive than giving our cats good food. I tried various wet food, this is the best. Cats are carnivores, they don’t need vegetables, grains, potatoes.

Best Wet Food on the Market

We decided to switch his wet food to Ziwi Peak’s, which is the best food recommended for arthritic cats because it has green mussels in it already and it is high protein and no carbohydrate. Our orthopedic vet said that it is much less stressful and easier on felines if the green mussels are in a food source that in a pill form. Although Ziwi Peak is more expensive than other cat foods, it is more nutritiously dense and has the same ingredients as Antinol, so don’t waste your money on Antinol, just buy a higher quality cat food that already includes green mussel protein in it and add some much loved EPA. My cat was much happier, less stressed, and his arthritis did not seem to bother him nearly as much in a shorter period of time. Our cat loves Mackarel in general, but loved the Rabbit flavor more.

Cats Very Happy So Am I

I was rather hessitant to purchase this cat food at first. I am very impressed with the quality of the food. All 7 of my Cats all like it so much so I now have it on a subscribe and save. Sorry some of the reviews from people had issues. All I can say is that even when purchasing food for humans the human factor is not perfect but Amazon’s customer service and commitment to their customers can not be beat. I and my Cats are very happy with the ZIWI Mackeral Cat Food. Thank you seller!

    Good quality, palatable

One of my cats was hospitalized for a week, and after many tests, no cause was found. They suspected irritable bowel disease and suggested feeding her a novel protein. Since we had 4 cats (one of which was diabetic), all 14+ years old, there were not a lot of proteins they had not tried before. Ziwi Peak was one of the only novel, single protein foods I saw.All three of our cats like this food, although we only give it regularly to the one who was sick previously since this brand is so much more expensive. The foods seems like good quality and does not include a lot of fillers. It includes bone and organs, which is much closer to what they would eat in the wild.My only complaint is the price, but if you want quality, you have to pay for it…. If it wasn’t for the fact that we have 3 cats now, and they’ve been healthy and happy eating their “cheap” food all these years, I’d switch them all to this.

2 out of 3 cats would rather go hungry

I bought 3 flavors of this brand and tried to feed them to my cats. All my cats are rescues, and one, Koa, had almost starved before he was taken in by a kind hearted person. Koa, although having only 2 teeth, will eat anything he can find. He must be banished in the evening as I cook dinner, or will attempt to eat anything on the counter. He loves this canned food. The other 2 cats will not eat it at all. I have gone through bouts of them walking away from it (with no other food available) for 5 days before they will even touch it, and then after eating it, will not eat again for 5 or so days. So, I am now feeding this food only to Koa until it is all gone. Then I will go back to just feeding Orijen kibble to all of them. All 3 cats love Orijen kibble! This may be a very great cat food, ingredient wise. But if cats won’t eat it, it is a waste of money.

    Cats love it.

Ours really like Ziwi Peak. We buy the larger cans to split between them, and they don’t really seem to have any preference of the mackerel over the rabbit. These are lovely and loving 8-year-old siblings who are easy peasy in the food dept., with zero behavior issues. So we feel comfortable noodling around with their diet. Ever since they were foundling orphan kittens we’ve periodically varied things up a bit to keep them from getting bored or too wedded to one brand/flavor. We’ve always bought top of the line, healthiest cat foods we could find, so they don’t seem one bit concerned that anything served will NOT BE to their liking. For the past year and as they’ve hit middle age, we’ve been road testing different canned and raw/dehydrated cat foods. So, too, we’ve lessened the amount of dry kibble, both for their overall health and because it is so difficult to find clean, healthy kibble now that Orijen for U.S. sale is made in Kentucky. The raw/dehydrated are okay but ours weren’t that enamored, especially when some had to then be refrigerated, then reheated prior to serving the next day. The two brands ours now get are Instinct grain free and Ziwi. With the switch from kibble, one of ours who was prone to the occasional itchy spot has not had any scratching.

    Now She Loves It!

I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews saying the cat doesn’t like it. Well our cat was skittish at first, but we simply kept putting this food (Ziwi chicken) out for her, and no other options, not even treats. Within a couple of days she was eating it, and now she meows forcefully asking us for this food. In about a month of eating nothing but the Ziwi, our cat has lost weight and become much more healthy and vibrant. She’s taken to playing with her toys again which is something miraculous for an 8 year old cat. The fact is, the dry food we used to feed her was killing her. She developed urinary problems and bad constipation, and was failing to thrive. Now she’s improved in every way. I can’t say that this food is the best for every cat, but it is the only food we will feed our fur baby from now on.

Great quality but not as good as expected.

Ziwi Peak is touted as some of the best cat food on the market. Limited shipments to the U.S. means it is very pricey as well. I had to try it just once. My cats get 80% of their diet from homemade raw diet (I make it myself), but I like to extend each batch of homemade by providing “treat meals” which is basically high end canned food. What I don’t like about Ziwi Peak is how dry it is. Cats have a low thirst drive. My cats rarely drink from their fountain, but all of their food has a high moisture content. It is exactly how most cats get water in the wild. They get it from the majority of their food containing water.I have to add 1-2 tablespoons of water to each 1.5-2 ounce serving of Ziwi Peak. I would prefer a more moist cat food and likely won’t buy Ziwi Peak again due to the cost. It’s just not worth it when there are cheaper and nearly as healthy options on the market. I may also start buying rabbit to make “treat meals”. Expensive? Yes, but no more than Ziwi Peak.

Not a hit with our two very hungry cats!

This may be premium cat food, but that failed to persuade our cats to eat it…and one of the two was a feral street cat always searching for food. This is too expensive to be refused by the cats, so it won’t be bought again. Nulo and Wellness the ladies eat happily and seem to thrive on both.

I have a persian that is so picky. I cannot get her to eat more than a couple of bites at a time. I have tried so many different types of soft cat food over the last 10 years. I ordered and just received the chicken recipe and put it down for her and she ate the whole bowl!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Approved by my IBD Manx, Kenzi Wenzikins

I have a rumpy manx with Manx syndrome and IBD and this is one of the only wet foods she can eat without getting diarrhea. I’ve been giving it to her for 3 years and the only complaint I have is when the manufacturers are completely out and it’s on back order.Luckily, I’m able to also give her Feline Natural lamb or Meat Mates lamb but out of the 3 brands, 2 of them will be out of stock and on back order at every given time.It can be really frustrating since there aren’t any other options except making her food from scratch, which is a giant pain in the butt and I haven’t been able to figure out how to do it even with 20+ hours of research. I did try but Kenzi Wenzikins did not like my efforts. 😾😟I really wish I knew the recipe for when they’re completely out. When the consequence for not being available is bloody, fecal incontinence and diarrhea, you would think the manufacturers could give us an alternative other than not eating at all. We’ve even tried Prescription cat diets for IBD and they still caused non-stop bloody diarrhea (IBD prescription diets are filled with gums and other ingredients that most cats with IBD are intolerant to, it’s senseless really but you only need to research their manufacturers to see why they’re complete crap).

    Kitty’s Favorite Single Source Protein

A gastrointestinal issue has forced my senior feline to forego canned foods normally found on shelves in pet stores. Her veterinarian prescribed a brand at the clinic (“RC”) that often wasn’t in stock and didn’t entirely sit well with her stomach. Two other brands listed under “Limited Ingredient Diet” were not appreciated. We next (and now finally) found Kiwi. Kitty gobbles it up and hasn’t vomited since she started it. A great discount during Prime Days made it possible to try all the flavors.

I know that Kiwi lamb flavor canned cat food is a very good product! I know that cats love it. I have seen them devour it with relish! That said, although I ordered and paid for the Kiwi lamb flavor cat food, I received a different product than what I ordered. Keep in mind that returns of this product are not allowed. That means that if you happen to get a different product when you order this one, you are stuck with it. I will not order this product again from Amazon. I will only buy this again if I find it in a store where I can see what I am getting before I pay for it.

    Top quality

Ziwi is most healthy food. Simply this is the best of all commercial food on the market. You can make similar quality pet food if you will cook it by your own but still no guarantee it will be better than this, and plenty of time was spent. You will see the changes in cat fur and whiskers quality. But for the best results make sure your pet doesn’t have an allergy for specific ingredients, you can make a test by your vet. I like Ziwi also because it offers single protein without mixing with anything else which is very useful for pets with food allergy. Please note If your pet refuses to eat Ziwi food it’s normal, especially if your pet used to eat kibble with lot of attractive additives. Transition will take some time I’d say around 2-3 weeks. Just add few pieces of ziwi to your pet regular food and increase it every day by very little amount, same time decreasing old food by the same amount ziwi added.Or try another flavor if pet refuses to eat at all.Stay healthy! 🐈

    Thanks Ziwi Pets!

FINALLY – a wet cat food with NO: Carrageenan, Sodium Selenite, Menadione (synthetic vitamin K), Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate (tspp), copper sulfate, Agar Agar, Guar Gum, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Sunflower Seed Oil, Canola Oil, Olive Oil, Tapioca Starch, Corn, Rice, Soy, Potatoes, Meals, Animal By-Products, etc., etc. These are ALL pet food ingredients/chemicals linked to cancer, organ/CNS damage, food allergies/intolerances and GI disturbances. The ingredients and chemicals that some pet food manufacturers put in our pets’ food is both atrocious and shameful.Anyway, I have been feeding the wet rabbit and lamb formula to my cats (new formula – did not like some ingredients in the old formula) for a little over a month now. At first introduction, neither cat was remotely interested. I was disappointed as I wanted them to immediately dig in. Determined to make it a part of their diet, I started mixing a tiny bit (teaspoon) in their current food, increasing gradually over the weeks. Both now are eating a full can at breakfast and seem to really enjoy. I may replace some of their other meals with this as well, but will wait a little longer to decide. One thing I will note is that my one cat seems to have developed very hard/dry stools since increasing the intake of this food. I am not positive yet, but I do suspect it’s related to something in the food. I suspect it may be from the bone or chickpeas? I am not too concerned yet, as he was going the other way (loose stools/diarrhea) from eating Weruva.Speaking of the chickpeas…I know that others have mentioned a dislike for the chickpeas (I get it). But there has to be SOME type of “binder” for the food. Alternatives binders are Carrageenan, Agar Agar, Starches, Grains, Gums – all of which are linked to cancer, allergies and GI upset. So…chickpeas please and thank you!Anyway, I am very happy with this food and am so glad it is available. Is it expensive? Totally. But I am more than willing to pay a higher price for quality ingredients (not sourced from China) for my cats. This is, by far, the best food that I have found with regard to the ingredient list. If there is something better or “as good” out there I would love to know (as I do believe in a rotational diet simply b/c I don’t trust ANY pet food manufacturer). If you are reading Ziwi, thank you for providing a quality product and for also listening to customer feedback! I can see from some other reviews that some customers are unhappy with your recent formula change, but in looking at your prior ingredients you made a change for the better! Usually when cat food formulas change, they seem to change for the worse (I’m looking at you Tiki Cat). Also, if you are listening, I do wish you would offer an all poultry or all rabbit option. Or even poultry and rabbit combo. I don’t feed my cats fish and would like another option, with no red meat. Finally, a lot of the cans in my order had large dents (5/12) and I won’t feed my cats food from dented cans…Based on the way my package came I feel like they were damaged on manufacturer’s end vs. Amazon or during shipment. Amazon was kind enough to help me out with this.

Good quality cat food with no grains

Since there have only been two reviews on this so far I feel I must write comment b/c the numbers are skewed with one person hating Ziwipeak and another loving it;) My cat loves Ziwipeak and I went to great effort to get this to him, despite the cost. I have mixed feelings about this food because it doesn’t have everything I’d like out of a cat food (but I haven’t found one company that does…yet) but my cat really enjoys it and it is a higher quality cat food. The pros about this cat food: high quality (it smells fresh and I haven’t had a can with discolorations or anything suspicious), it’s a pate that’s mostly meat (so you don’t see chunks of other stuff like you may with other brands), and most importantly–there are no grains! It’s low in carbohydrates; according to Ziwipeak’s website it’s only 1.5% carbs, and if you read the ingredients they are mostly meat and then vitamins/minerals. The meat is free of antibiotics and hormones. And there are no artificial colors or preservatives. The ingredients are from New Zealand. This may not be a pro if you’re looking for U.S. meat (in which case I suggest Hound and Gatos), but the rabbit isn’t sourced from China (like Nature’s Variety). The cons: price! On Amazon it comes to $3.25/can, which is steep considering it has carrageenan. Though, I’ve seen it more expensive elsewhere. That leads me to the biggest con–it has carrageenan! Carrageenan has been linked to suppressing the immune system and inflaming intestinal lining; and I wish companies would just stop using it as the risks outweigh the benefits (of a slightly fluffier pate). My cat has IBD, so he already has inflamed bowels and I’ve been seeking companies that don’t use carrageenan. My feline has several brands of no-grain food to choose from, but lately prefers the rabbit & lamb Ziwipeak. Since my cat is ill and not eating well I have bought Ziwipeak from a couple of different online companies because my goal currently is to get non-grain/low carb calories into his body. After he’s gotten pass this inflamed bout I will go back to the carrageenan free kinds (or raw. I’ve really been looking at a raw diet b/c it seems to help IBD cats, but that’s another tangent.) —UPDATE 9/7/16–NO MORE CARAGEENAN! I didn’t realize this review was sitting out here with info on carageenan until someone reminded me. I still buy ZiwiPeak on a semi-regular basis and there hasn’t been carageenan in it for awhile. So, yay!Other things to consider: There are bones in this food. I was alarmed to find my cat chewing a flat (pencil eraser-sized) bone, but after speaking with my vet and doing research on BARF diets I realize that bone isn’t something I’m going to concern myself with because a.) The food wasn’t cooked so the bone isn’t brittle, and b.) If I move my cat to a raw diet I’d want the bone anyway. I only mention this as a consideration if your cat has a health ailment where bones shouldn’t be consumed. This flavor is a mixed protein, so if you’re seeking a can with one protein this isn’t it. (Some IBD cat owners look for one protein source.) My cat loves rabbit and we’ve tried several brands of rabbit. For some reason he really loves this brand. It’s mixed with lamb, but my cat likes lamb too. If you’re looking for fast delivery don’t do the free shipping on Amazon with this. While I found Amazon to be slightly cheaper this order took longer to ship than Chewy and Pet360, so don’t order this in a frantic state hoping it would arrive soon (like I did). Give yourself amble time for delivery, pay extra for quicker delivery, or go with a company that delivers faster. If you’re leery of buying a case because of the price I recommend checking out Only Natural Pet, where you can buy by the can. It’s even more expensive but you can find out if your cat likes Ziwipeak and then order a case from Amazon, or elsewhere depending on who has what deals that day;).

    My cat is a savage

Let me start by saying I love and adore my cat. Found her as a tiny kitty, figure her mother was either feral or darn near close to and either passed or left my baby girl on side of road. Who knew a rough start would make such a snuggly cat. Anyways, my girl is now four and eats as if she’s never had food before. Sometimes going as far as grabbing the pizza off a plate as we eat or the bread off the counter (which now is behind closed doors). She’s been a highly motivated food thief. Have used a few other canned foods over the last few years but she usually has some kind of reaction. Nothing horrible but enough for me to keep searching for something that will work for us. This Ziwi chicken has been amazing. My baby girl is healthy, happy, and slightly addicted to hearing the can open every morning. The bread is safe from being dragged off and the occasional pizza hasn’t caused dinner to turn into a contact sport. Win-win. Think she’s actually mad didn’t give her whole thing but she’s little so only gets a half a can. BUT this product is beyond AMAZING!!! She’s healthy, all issues vanished, happy, and worth every painful payment. Wish this was a bit cheaper but worth the extra. The ingredients I know, which is kinda cool. If paying twenty more per pack lets her be running around and playing like a kitten and beyond healthy just take my money. If your cat has allergies or is picky then I’d say get a few cans and try since really can’t go wrong with this company. My dogs are on Ziwi and look great and are healthy. I am a believer in feeding good stuff and see the results. Saves me having to cook and grind their food myself. Have I mentioned I love this company and food? No? Well get a protein that works for your cat and see the results. Love, Love, LOVE.

    DO NOT BUY!

This food put both of my cats in the ER. $1.6k later and we found out that our brand new $100 worth of wet food is actually bad even though we’ve had it for 3 days… our cats literally got food poising from this food they went from normal to throwing up 8-10 times each and then not eating, drinking or sleeping for days. They’re intestinal track was inflamed and they were in enough pain where they could not sleep. We had to give them IV’s, pain medication and anti nausea medication even then it took another 2-3 days for them to fully recover in total about a week all due to this food. So don’t be fooled like I was I thought buying expensive “premium” food was the route to go but the lack of consistency proved otherwise. I’d rather stick with cheap friskies knowing those $1 cans won’t put my cats in the hospital. $1.6k later and I’ve learned this food is no good nor will I ever buy it again and I will constantly make others aware that this food should never be ingested by an animal. Shame on manufacturers shame on the company and quality control.

Hate the price, love how good it is for my IBD cats with food allergies.

I can only imagine that New Zealanders pay half the price for this food (if that!), which is just another reason on a very long list of reasons I wish could move to Middle Earth. But I digress. This used to be the sole food that was tolerable to an IBD cat I had years ago. Back then the bone shards were scary large and I would pick them out, supplementing egg shell powder for the lost calcium source. No pet owner wants to go through that hassle, especially for the price, so I’m relieved to see that the pieces of bone are now small enough to be digested easily. Yes, they’re supposed to be there. Why, you might ask. Because Ziwi Peak is one of the only cat food manufacturers that mimics a cat’s natural diet via type of ingredients and ratios. You’d have to buy food from a supplier that specializes in raw food diets with the appropriate muscle meat/organ/bone ratio to get a better approximation of the ideal prey diet. House cats have the same GI system as tigers or lions, they haven’t evolved the way dogs have. The closer you can get to a natural diet, the healthier they should be.So, anyway, I ended up with two more IBD cats with various food allergies and embarked on a whirlwind cat food adventure in the hopes of finding something that wouldn’t cause any issues. Ziwi Peak was tried, cats wouldn’t touch it, we moved on to other novel protein-based foods and, still, the vomiting continued. We tried the commercial raw foods in novel protein sources and, still, the vomiting continued. We got a prescription for a hypoallergenic commercial food and it was ok. Vomiting was limited, but the cats needed mega doses of probiotics/prebiotics and egg yolk powder to keep hairballs under control. Eventually the cats began vomiting up the prescription food and I found out that cross-contamination is a pretty big problem in the pet food industry. I started to wonder if the problem wasn’t the protein source so much as *where* the food was manufactured. This is when I decided that we’d give Ziwi Peak another shot, but use it exclusively. The cats were less than thrilled with the abrupt change in diet, especially since the healthier food tends to not be as appetizing as the less nutritious chicken and fish in gravy type foods (I mean, come on. That’s like saying, “Here, would you prefer this pizza for dinner or a grilled chicken breast and steamed vegetables?” to a person.) You’ve got to be sneaky with them when switching to a healthier diet. Mine go bonkers for freeze-dried duck liver treats and I decided to use this as an incentive to eat the Ziwi Peak by crushing the treats into a fine powder and sprinkling it over the food. I only had to do this for two days before they started digging into the the Ziwi Peak sans the extra motivation. The new diet hasn’t been a miracle cure for my cat with severe IBD, though her condition has improved significantly. It’s been far more successful for my cat with moderate IBD. I’ve been able to cut back on supplements and I’m seeing an all-around boost to their general health. I add a little water to the food and can tell they’re no longer dehydrated since the water bowl is rarely touched. They used to drain it, plus 1/4 of another bowl, by the end of the day when they were mostly eating dry prescription food. That’s not a good sign. Cats don’t have a very strong thirst drive to begin with and chronic dehydration is a common cause of kidney problems later in life. If you change nothing else about their diet, please get your cats off of dry food if you can. It’s the worst thing you can feed them.I guess I’ll have to keep paying these ridiculous prices for food since it’s the only thing that’s made a noticeable difference in their health. I’m hoping to use it as a stepping stone to a non-commerical raw food diet. A natural diet in raw form is easiest on their digestion. It’s a daunting prospect, but I think we’re up for another cat food adventure.

My cats don’t like it, and neither do the feral cats I feed outdoors

Admittedly, my cats are a bit spoiled. I have an eight-year-old female and a male who is just over a year old. They have never eaten anything but premium cat food. I free-feed Blue Buffalo kibble and rotate a large variety of premium canned foods. The kibble is always there for them, and they don’t overeat; plus, I split a 5 oz. (or thereabouts) can of premium cat food for them in the morning and, if they have finished what I gave them in the morning, I’ll split another can for them in the late afternoon if they ask, as long as they have eaten what I had given them in the morning.I also feed a couple of feral/stray cats outside. I’ll bring them a bowl of kibble each morning, and I’ll give them whatever my own cats won’t eat or, if there are no leftovers, I’ll bring them a 5 oz. serving of premium food.Neither of my cats would even try the ZIWI food, and the older one would make the digging motions that she does alongside her bowl to let me know what she thinks should be done with that food.I brought it outside for the feral cats. Nearly always, they would go for the canned food first and come back later for the kibble. However, when presented with the ZIWI food, they went for the kibble and ate only a little of the ZIWI food. There are times when my cats will reject a food only to accept it on another day so, since I bought a case of this stuff, I tried it with them a few other times, and they wouldn’t touch it. Noticing that the bowl that I put the KIWI food in outdoors would be empty by the next morning, I assumed that the cats were coming back for it later, so at least it wouldn’t go to waste. However, when I put a camera out there, I found that raccoons were eating it.I gave a can of it to a friend who usually feeds store-brand cat food to her cat, but she told me that her cat wouldn’t eat it either.Since I have a case of the stuff, I have continued to put it outdoors, yet the feral cats will take a few bites of it, which is more than my cats would do, but it was mostly raccoon food.I am giving it three stars because, oddly enough, the ingredients are great. I have little doubt that this would be a healthy choice for any cat that would eat it. Cats are individuals and ZIWI has been in existence for a while now, so I am sure that there are plenty of other cats who love the stuff. My experience, however, has not been good. I will also point out that there are other brands of perfectly good cat food that my cats won’t touch, but this is the first time that I have come across something that the feral cats won’t eat. Then again, I’ve been feeding them every morning for a few years now.
