Simple to use, inexpensive small batch deep fryer.
The Presto fry daddy is a very simple, convenient, easy to use counter top deep fryer. I recently purchased this newer version, but this has been my experience after years of use in my kitchen with the older versions. I don’t seem much change in design but maybe some minor improvements…Pros:1. Easy to use and setup for small batch deep frying.2. Not hard to clean if you clean within a day of cooking, and you’re mindful of the outside of the pot where the electrical components are.3. Perfect size for one to two people.4. Presto (fry daddy/fry baby) deep fryers have been around a long time and have proven to be a reliable, popular, and simple to use deep fryer (I’ve owned a fry daddy and fry granpappy for years myself).5. The small platform makes it easy to store in your cabinet.6. I don’t get grease splatter all over my range top by using a Dutch oven to deep fry on my stove.Cons:1. Grease splatter. Not terrible but you will always get some splatter around the unit when frying, especially if you drop foods into the hot grease that have a high moisture content. I use a large aluminum pizza pan under mine to help keep splatter off my countertops while cooking, and clean up soon after the unit has cooled. I haven’t myself, but you also may want to try a splatter screen.2. No temperature control. I spent a lot of time in Tampa Florida in my youth and like to cook Ebor City devil crab rolls, which are basically a relatively thick crab meat croquette with lots of Cuban and Italian spices. I’ve found these need to be cooked at frying temp of no more than 325F to get the center heated right and the breaded outside browned correctly. Unfortunately, all the Fry Daddy, Fry Baby, Fry Granpappy temps are too high to cook these seafood delicacies correctly. It would be great if I could just turn down the heat down by 50 to 75 F to cook my favorite seafood dish. I even bought a second (less convenient) deep fryer, mainly to cook my beloved crab rolls. Come On Presto! Not Everything Needs to be Cooked at 375 degrees F.3. 1. Not good for large batches of fried food. Get the Fry Granpappy for large batches.4. Sides of unit gets hot so don’t try to move until relatively cool.Recommendations:1, Again, this is a very simple and easy to use deep fryer, that can easily accommodate enough food for two adults (maybe even a 3rd or 4th depending on how much fried food you’re planning on serving), just don’t expect to cook for large gatherings.2. Put a large pizza pan or your largest cookie sheet under the unit when frying to keep countertop splatter to a minimum.3.Don’t use the deep fryer as a long term storage container for used oil. I recommend straining the oil through a fine mesh sieve after cooking and the oil has cooled enough to handle, then storing in a container in the fridge. Those little bits of burnt breading, etc. will effect the flavor of your used oil after a time. If you are going to fry again within a few days, no problem, but don’t just use the deep fryer as and oil storage container. Using some recently used oil again won’t have any noticeable effect on the flavor of your fried food as long as you dont let the burnt bits set too long. Also, never fry any “turf” (land) meat or veggies in oil you previously used to fry “surf” (ocean). You can reuse fish grease to fry more seafood, just never fry “turf: with previously used “surf” grease. Should be okay though to fry “surf” with “turf” grease. REGARDLESS, Don’t used your Fry Daddy as a Long Term Grease Storage Container.4. (Can’t stress this enough) Please let your deep fryer cool to a safe temperature before trying to move, save the used oil, or clean. Hot oil/grease is VERY DANGEROUS. This is a relatively safe deep fryer but very basic and you still be dealing with a HOT POT OF HIGH TEMPERATURE OIL. Be very careful! Conclusion: Worth the money. No unneeded bells and whistles. Temp control would be great.

This appliance has performed well above my expectations.
This appliance has performed well above my expectations. No splatter if used as instructed so there is very little clean up afterwards. Makes perfect fried catfish, oysters and fries. Cooks at the perfect temperature and won’t burn your oil so it can be used multiple times.

simple design, easy to use, compact
I have had a couple of these over the years and they have been easy to use and reliable. Some reviews show poor results but on the whole they are rare and many can be attributed to user error. The lid, for example, is a pliable plastic so if you’re going to put it back on a hot fryer, you should probably not be trusted with sharp objects or anything that plugs into the wall socket.

Easy to use, clean and deep fries perfectly.
I used to hate deep frying, but that all changed upon my first use of this little gem time saver. Simple, easy and very little clean up. Stores used oil ready to used again. Although you can’t control the temperature, you don’t have to because once you plug it in, it goes to and maintains the proper frying temperature throughout the entire cooking process. Good quality, no frills, just put the oil in plug it in, within a couple of minutes, you’re ready to go. I’m single and only cook for myself, one serving, so if you have to cook for a family, you would want a bigger version. But I’ve been using this for a few months and can’t do without it.

Works great!
Easy to use and no worries about the temperature. I had problems getting the oil hot enough using my gas stove you don’t have to worry about it with this product. Small enough to easily store.

This is a “bare bones” appliance, but it works pretty well
The Fry Daddy works pretty well if you live alone and occasionally want to fry something. I bought the small size (7.25″ dia, 7.5″ high). I don’t even know if they make a bigger one. But overall, it works pretty well to make a single serving of frozen french fries or Pizza rolls. The odor of frying in oil tends to linger (which I find unpleasant), but quite frankly, I have never been all that satisfied with the results when using my air fryer. I thought the Fry Daddy might be a better alternative. Overall, I would have to say it is. I use palm oil (instead of canola oil) which seems to leave less of a smell. The Fry Daddy has a very tight fitting cover, which should help to keep the oil from going rancid. The Fry Daddy literally has no controls. There is no on-off switch. There is no thermostat. You add the proper amount of oil, plug it in, wait 10 minutes – and fry. Pull the plug to turn it off. Somehow, I missed these details before I ordered mine, but actually it works OK. However, I would like to see an on-off switch. The plug sparks when it is pulled, so that act must be causing wear on the outlet. My Fry Daddy heats up to 405F in maybe 8 minutes, and then holds that temp (+/-2F perhaps) until food is put in to fry. The temp drops substantially when food is added, depending upon the temperature and quantity of the food. The frying temperature does not recover very quickly. The unit is rated at 1200W (10A, I did not check), but in all honesty, the recovery is slower than I expected, given the stated wattage. My one real complaint is the shortness of the power cord. Presto seems paranoid about having a child pull the fryer off a counter top. I rather suspect that happened, and Presto was held liable. In any case, the power cord is so short that it can’t be draped over the edge of a counter. Idiot proof. But not very convenient.

Possibly the best thing I’ve ever purchased on Amazon!
I purchased the FryDaddy as a gift for my family for Christmas. We’ve already used it three times! I’ve heard about this item and how it makes the best French fries, and boy does it ever! We don’t really eat out very often, but sometimes you just want some fried, greasy food, am I right? Frying on the stovetop is a hassle because it takes so long to heat up, just for it to cool off when you add your food making the cooking time extra long. With frydaddy, the oil heats in less than 5 minutes and stays that temperature throughout the process. So far I’ve made fries, blooming onion petals, and chicken tenders. All have turned out incredible. Better than fast food by a mile, and honestly quicker. This item has already paid for itself easily. I can’t wait to experiment with different oils!

Fun. Fun And more Fun.
I’m a simple woman. Not a whole lot of gadgets. But this was a housewarming gift I just love. I have made perfect French fries which as ya’ ll know are exorbitant even at McD’ s these days. Crunchy outside, tender inside. And deep fried fan tail shrimp.oh yeah. Next…fish & chips. Just ordered the Amazon Fresh 128 oz peanut oil to keep me happy all winter. This summer I’ll switch to deep fried veggies from the farmers market. Also want to do homemade potato chips…a bag is running close to $5 now. No way!!!

I do wish it had a temperature control..but it works good without one. Just make sure oil is hot before putting food in it. Easy to storage and hold oil for next time. Also spacious for the counter.

Love the little fryer. If you want want to surprise someone though, it does NOT come inside a box. The manufacturer’s box is it, so everyone knows what it is. Found out the hard way when I tried to buy one to surprise my husband for Christmas, but he got to the door before me. Surprise. Not.

Make sure what you’re frying is thawed out before cooking.
Working with dry oil can be a challenge, but with presto fry daddy, cooking just becomes easy. The frying time is fast and it cooks fully. No cold spots. Now I’ve read where people have talked about spattering. The reason behind that is because if the food your cooking has any water, the reaction will cause the oil to spatter. It’s always best to allow what you’re going to fry to fully thaw out first. This will prevent this from happening.I like the fact this doesn’t take up a lot of shelf space and the handle make’s moving it around simple.Never put the lid on the fryer until the oil has fully cooled down. This will help prevent premature wear of the material making it last longer. But make sure you keep the outer part clean at all times when you finish cooking. Otherwise the oil will start to cake up and it will be tough to clean off.Happy frying.

Can’t go wrong with the OG
It’s a Fry Daddy… They have been around forever and fry at one temperature. This one temp works for most fried foods. The price is right and you will be happy unless you need to fry one thing at a lower temp, let it cool and fry again at a higher temp. I got one for my daddy for his birthday. He is now a “Fry Daddy” himself and very happy.

Fry Daddy fries !
Fry Daddy fries. I used coconut oil (that I bought on Amazon) that can take a a temperature as high as 425 degrees. I used a Candy Thermometer (also bought on Amazon) to check the temperature. The temperature reached as high as 400 degrees on the thermometer (maybe because it was on the metal and down low in the pot) it does heat up for sure. I made a simple yeast donut recipe to test this fryer out. BE SURE TO TAKE THE LID OFF BEFORE YOU PLUG IT IN AND LEAVE IT OFF UNTIL THE OIL HAS COOLED DOWN !
