Not a Big Hit
Optimeal’s Indoor Cat Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe is good stuff, made with high quality ingredients (deboned chicken, chicken meal, brown rice, barley, pea protein, turkey meal, poultry fat), plus all the good supplements — vitamins, minerals — that cats need. There’s nothing wrong with this food — in fact, there’s lots right with it. The only problem is that none my six cats care for it.I’ve tried several varieties, and only one (weight loss) went over well. This one had all six walking away. They ate it up once I mixed it about two to one with their regular kibble, and I’m happy about that, but when offered on its own, they ignore it. I truly wish I could report otherwise!

My 3 cats seem to like it.
My three cats seem to like it, however I presume it’s low calorie to account for indoor cat lifestyle. I have one cat that is naughty and gets out a lot and he’s getting thin as rails so I have to supplement his meals. My other two indoor kitties are maintaining a healthy weight. I’d say, as it mentions, definitely for the indoor kitties.

My kitties had no problem gobbling this up and looked around for crumbs when they finished. I usually leave dry kibble out for munching during the day but a needed to ration this one as the bowl kept being emptied.

The cats have rated this Optimeal Indoor Cat Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Adult Cat Food (Chicken&Brown Rice, 8.8) as “num num” and I have translated this as *****.Now, some cats foods, the first time you open the bag, are gobble down like kitty treats but then later, not much interest.This Optimeal Indoor Cat Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Adult Cat Food is different. The cats didn’t snark down the bowl really fast, but they ate it. And they are still doing so.Great ingredients.

Cats like it
I do have picky cats and they don’t just eat every dry food we buy. So I was worried they may not like this food but they did like it. I put it in my automatic cat feeder and so far the cats have no complaints. My cats are indoor cats so I’m happy I can give them a nutritional meal that is a benefit to their health.

Cats wouldn’t eat
I wish my cats liked this, but they will literally not eat if this is the only option presented. I love the ingredient list. They don’t love the flavor. The dog sort of tolerates it so it won’t go to waste. Every pet is different, but the fact that all 3 of my babes find it unpalatable is not a good sign. 2 stars.

Can’t recommend
Unfortunately, not one of my four cats would eat this. Yes, they’re picky, but usually at least one will like the offered food even if three refuse to eat it. In this case, none of the kitties would eat it. Can’t recommend.

Happy cat
My cat is very particular with his food, so immediately upon delivery, I let him try it. In that moment, my cat decided that he would never eat anything else. His old food? (He loved) Nope. Gross. This dude is scratching at the cabinet for more after every meal. I foresee many deliveries. Highly recommend!

9 cats not thrilled with it
I have 9 cats. I’ve been looking for a new dry food that they’ll all agree on and which has ingredients and a price I like.To test this, I put it in the third bowl from the left, and put two others I was testing in second and fourth bowls, with current food in first bowl. This was the least favorite and after three days the bowl was still almost full. With this many cats that bowl should have been empty in a few hours.I then mixed the remaining amount in the bag with the current food but have noticed they pick around it.So, I guess they don’t like it.

Cats love it
I received the food yesterday- it arrived promptly and in good condition. I’m always looking for healthy , quality food for my cats and fosters that I care for through a local rescue. They were immediately attracted to the bowl and enjoyed the food. It has good healthy ingredients and that’s a must when feeding rescue cats that may be underweight or ill. I want them to get as many nutrients as possible.

Screamy Beany Approved You can just copy and paste this for the review: Our cat Screamy Beany loved her new Optimeal dry cat food immediately. Not only did she scream extra loud for her first bowl of food, but she tried to tear into the food bag for more. Even after the bag was stored away, she scratched and pawed at the Amazon box looking for more. She has previously had stomach upset when switching to different dry foods, but there has been no issue at all with switching to this food. Optimeal dry cat food has been so gentle on her digestion and definitely a new tasty favorite – 100% Screamy Beany approved.

Only one cat liked it
The cat food seems to have great ingredients and nutrients, perfect for my indoor cats. Unfortunately only one of my cats enjoys the food. The other cat won’t touch it. I think I will be sticking with my normal food that they both enjoy, but it was great to try out!

Cats love it, great quality
We love the ingredient list of this food plus the cats love it. We started by slowly mixing it into the cats normal food and had no reactions, only good things!Our kitten just came back from spay surgery and has been eating this food. They suggested stool may be loose because of the surgery but she was normal! We like to attribute that back to quality food we give her!Perfect size for my cats, they both chew food but no pieces flying everywhere as some other food does

My cats love all cat food except this.
I switch my cat food every time I buy new food. I know this isn’t the best for them but I have done this for years and my previous cats lived to be 17/18 with always positive vet visits, anyway my current kitties eat absolutely everything I have ever got them but this food they won’t touch. The food looks great and smells like cat food but they hate it. Both of them. If my cats that are not picky in the slightest won’t eat this then I cannot recommend it to anyone because even if your cat will eat it I’m sure they won’t be enjoying it.

This was purchased for George. George wanted NOTHING to do with it. I put it under the cabinet and found that our one cat, Tuna (who is on a restricted diet) did love it! She ate a giant hole in the bag!

Cats had mixed opinions
I breed cats and always need to have good quality food for my breeding pair and kittens. This food is for adult cats, since kibble is big. Few of my big cats loved it. I had no problem mixing it with their regular food, but I wish the price is a bit lower. My other cats didn’t want to eat it at all and they stuck to their food.

Large kibble size
I recently took in a tiny stray who was so picky with her food but also needed to slow down. This has larger kibble size than normal and she’s the type who wants to chew, so this has been perfect. I would NOT recommend this for any cats who try to inhale their kibble whole, or for any with advanced gingivitis/loose teeth! It’s been a little over a month and I’m seeing a positive difference in her skin/coat and she’s putting on weight at a healthy pace. The protein content plus the size means I can feed her less, so cost wise I do find the price point comparable. I received this from a friend but once it’s gone I will be purchasing again myself.

great ingredients from a health-centered approach, but our cats won’t eat it
We care a lot about the health of our pets. As proof of this, I will argue that people sometimes take more care to balance their pets’ diets than their own diets! I was excited to see this ‘optimeal’ cat food. It had the exciting blend of chicken meat alongside, cranberries, blueberries, marigold and quite a few other nutrient-dense items. I would definitely pay a little more for a nutritious food like this, at least to supplement our cats normal favorite cat foods. The problem however, is that our cat’s will not eat this cat food, nullifying the awesome ingredients. Their normal favored foods smell ‘stinky and fishy’ and they LOVE foods that stink. These morsels smell much too tame for them, probably analogous to how a celery stalk smells to someone craving a hamburger ;-)In fact, it seems like it is hit and miss whether cats go for this food, so my advice is to start with a small bag and experiment. Add a small amount of these pellets to your cats normal cat food- for the health benefits, until they get used to the taste. then slowly begin to add more of the new pellets and less of the old stuff. Cat food goes bad and tastes worse (and has fewer nutrients) when exposed to air and the elements (vitamins break down over time), so perhaps after purchasing a small bag, use a small amount of both foods to reap the taste benefits from the food they enjoy and the nutrition from optimeal. That approach should give your cats the best of ‘both worlds’.

Good but highly dependent…
This is some good cat food…it’s made well, the animals love it (including the dog), and they almost acted as if they thought it was a treat or something. They get fed good food and wet food but they love this stuff. The dog likes it a little too much and I truly think that if she could act like a cat and get this stuff to eat, she would. Nonetheless, this stuff is seemingly made very well, the cats love the taste of it, I didn’t notice any stomach issues from it, and it appears to be healthy for them. Decent Ingredients and Kitty Approved
I’m fussy about what goes into my cat’s food. I try to lean towards kibble that has a higher basis of meat and no grains. This kibble pretty much fits that standard although I could do without the potato starch and all the fruit. Cats are CARNIVORES. This stuff is just human food that is filler. But as kibble goes, this is still better than a LOT of options.The kibble is on the smaller side which my cat usually won’t eat. He often spits out smaller kibble for some reason. I put this in his dish and he gobbled this stuff right up. This will be long gone after the sell by date of December 2022!All in all not bad. Would purchase again.

Cats all loved it!
I have 24 cats in my household with the fosters and resident cats included. They all went nuts over this food. Now I can’t buy another 22 pound bag of it. Why oh why?? 😭I give it 5 Stars but availability is a real problem!!

Cats seemed to like it the first time but now won’t touch it
MY two 15 year old cats are fussy eaters. I was thrilled when they gobble up this healthy food the first time it was offered but since then I have put it out twice and they won’t touch it. Alas, they prefer Friskies, but there are some healthy foods they will eat. Not this one apparently. I will try once more and if they still refuse it, will give it to the local shelter. They love nutritional yeast but even when topped with the yeast this food did not appeal to them.

My crew like them!
My crew like them! One of my cats is strictly indoor, and the other one is indoor/outdoor. The indoor cat has some digestive issues and I haven’t seen him spit up once since he started this formula. One look at the label is impressive, chicken is the first ingredient, that’s good. Chicken meal is the second ingredient, I wasn’t thrilled about that. But all of the other ingredients look solid.As far as price, $40 for an 8 pound bag of cat food is extremely high. That being said lots of people will pay that price. I won’t be one of them.

Healthy ingredients – okay flavor
Ingredients listed are good – with chicken listed as the number one ingredient. It dies have brown rice about 3rd with the end result being 32% protein. In the wild, a cat would get higher percentages from whatever they can catch, but this does seem like a healthy formula and quality ingredients. The final test (of course), is whether a persnickity cat will eat it – in my case, my cat would eat it – but wasn’t completely thrilled with it – so I guess that’s a “meh” on the cat’s approval.

Update, Price!!!
Update, this food has now over a 100% price increase, so I’ll now change my cat food. I would have loved to continue to support this brand, but they continue to jack up price every time I buy. What’s going on!?!I really like this idea of supporting a Ukraine company. My cats are picky eaters and I was surprised that they started to eat Optimeal right away. The food has great ingredients and it feels fresh. Will buy again.

My kitties are skeptical when it comes to their dry food, but with this food, they pounce on it! I highly recommend as I notice a difference in their fur being softer and energy levels being higher. The #1 ingredient is chicken and I love that about this. Definitely try if you have cats who are picky!

Our cat went for it right away! She loves chicken and the brown rice is a plus! It’s been two weeks now since she started eating it and it seems to help with her digestion. Possibly due to the fiber blend in it. Love it!

Healthy Cat Food!
I love that this cat food is in small pieces making it easy for my cat to eat. My cat was sickly as a kitten so she has always been on a healthy diet. I recently got this food and have been mixing it with her other food. She ate it right away and seems to enjoy it!!!

No issues for a sensitive stomach.
Had no problem switching between this and her much more expensive vet prescribed dry food. I’ve been giving her the vet prescribed food in the morning and this in the evening and haven’t had any issues with her throwing up.
