    Handle wasn’t firmly attached.

The handle wasn’t firmly attached. Had to ‘glue’ the handle to tool. However was pleased to use the tool!!

    Nice

Very nice, but I usually tighten the screw going in to thehandle after each use. Other than that, it is a great tool.

    Exactly what I wanted

Yes, some movement in the head but in no way negatively impacts its use. We have very rocky ground and it flew right through it.

I used this tool to remove overgrown grass on a sidewalk it worked perfect and left a nice straight edge

    great tool for gardening.

As soon as I got it I used on weeds and then to make furrows. I use the hoe part more than the little rake.

    Great little tool

One of my Facebook gardening friends showed this in his post. Bought one for myself and so glad I did. It’s great for digging out invading grass and weeds, including their roots. One of the tines has bent a little bit, but we’ve abused it my digging out big thumb sized roots from a small tree and some older shrubs that died. I love it and don’t blame the slightly bent tine on the tool, but on our abuse of it.

    Great hand tool.

I love the sturdiness of this tool. Great for digging out thistles and other weeds. Very sharp’ I also use it to dig holes to plant bedding plants, etc.

    Best tool!

I bought a house in the Fall with a huge garden space. The previous owners grew their own vegetables and herbs but took their plants with them. Spring arrived, so did many unwanted weeds and clumps of grass as well as herbs that I chose to keep. This tool was easier to use than a trowel or small shovel for me. Culling weeds, separating dirt clods, chopping small roots – this tool does everything. Yes, you need to swing it, this lady of 62 can do it!

fantastic! using as primary garden tool 2 years straight

any time I go to work to tear up roots, plant seeds, scrape the ground or anything else – this is the first tool I go for. I will use this for a small planting area before Iven bother thinking about a shovel. This thing has held up to some serious use.It could use a sharpening at this point, but by far the best ground work maintenance/gardening tool i’ve ever bought.

Great replacement/backup for the same tool I have used for 30 years!

Am befuddled by reviews for this type of tool (not necessarily this brand) that are being used to prep rocky, overly compacted, or heavily clay composited soil. Reviews would suggest this is an inappropriate tool—what a surprise!Ever hear of pre-irrigation? Ever hear of a pick-ax, or even a shovel as a first step? This is a hand tool. As such, so far so good. I have used this type of tool for decades, and am only adding this one as a backup. My best stuff I try to always have a backup (backup for this one was ‘lifted’ by a previous gardener),Try it . . . I think you will like it!

    Must have

I’m 65. Been mowing lawns and learning gardening starting in the fourth grade.Working the weeds and grass from around your garden with the fingers is very effective. Gets the deep roots. The hoe side I use for breaking up the edging grass clumps. This tool a shovel and a rake is what I reach for. This tool can be hard to get. That’s how handy and strong they are.

    Good solid, strong handle

I do a lot of gardening (or pulling of weeds should I say). I had one of these for several years; it is — was — my favorite garden tool. I like to kneel and sit to weed because standing and bending over is harder on my old back. It was a great tool; always my go to tool — until I ran over it with the riding lawnmower! Surprisingly the lawn mower blades survived with very little damage but the cultivator lost it’s handle. The lawn mower blades sheared the handle off, just below the claw. Couldn’t find one locally — all they had were the ones with the thin metal shaft between a short handle and the claw. Had one of those before and the metal shaft bends. So I checked with Amazon and found this one. Now I can get back to work in the garden.

    Flimsy prongs

The prongs on the rake side are so easy to bend. Not nearly as durable as the one I had before this purchase. Wish I knew the brand of my first hand cultivator that went missing.

It is a good weight for an elderly person

I ordered this tool for my mother who loves to garden and lost most of her tools in a flood. I did have the opportunity to use it in her yard. It is a good weight for an elderly person. It has a nice sharp blade on one side and the prongs/forks on the other. One of the tines on the fork side was bent but husband was able to get it straightened. The other small defect was that the rubberized grip on the wooden handle started sliding off. I fixed it by covering the handle with glue and sliding it back on. Not sure if this will hold. However for the price it was not worth trying to send back. Overall I’m pleased with the purchase.

A Real tool! Not a flimsy tool

I could not find a weighty cultivator in the hardware stores. This has a solid build the handle is thicker than the cheaper ones & made w/ a hard wood. This makes it easier to grip especially because of the soft grip plastic ( or whatever that stuff is made from) The blade is meaty & tough. I know it’ll last me years!! I will be ordering again!

Your go to tool for the garden

Plant, cultivate between plants, dig up weeds – this is my go to tool for the garden. First one lasted 30 years of heavy use before I broke the middle prong off. Still use it for cultivated both sides of a row of seeds. This one will probably out last me.

To my surprise and delight, this tool has proved itself to be worth …

This is an incredibly well made tool and so incredibly versatile! My husband and i recently purchased a large piece of property with established gardens/berries/fruit trees and grapes… it’s quite a chore to keep up with all the many needs of this gorgeous land – which mostly require a set (or two) of strong hands! So, since my husband and I aren’t always in the same place at the same time i quickly realized i needed some substantial tools..not your run of the mill big box store cheap garden tools. To my surprise and delight, this tool has proved itself to be worth it’s weight in gold!!! Its like having an extra set of STRONG hands in the garden! Cant say enough great things about it… except that I will be buying more tools from Edward Tools!!! yay! ~ Julie

If you have weeds, you need to have THIS tool!

This garden tool is now my favorite —and my husband decided we need to order one for him, too. Breaking up the ground that is choked with weeds was like cutting through butter—it was so easy! I can’t believe how well made this tool is especially for the price! It is a solid oak handle and is completely solid but not too heavy to hold. I bought this to replace a similar tool that the head was welded on to a metal handle—the weld completely failed on the old tool—so I was looking for something that I could use on hard ground— and not worry that it would break. The head is attached with the handle going through the head—it is VERY WELL built. I is virtually unbreakable. The rubber handle is a soft and easy grip. I don’t think you could find a better made hand hoe-cultivator.

The best yard hand tool I have ever owned bar none.

I’ve been looking for this tool for years. I’m a avid DYI person. I’ve been through so many hand held “quality” tools that have always disappointed. I’ve searched high and low and never found that “holy grail” tool TILL NOW. This tool is by far the most superior made in every way. Materials, workmanship, durability, feel, performance this sets the standard! Nothing else I have found in years of searching even comes close. I recommend this to all skill levels. This tool will last for years. I am so grateful to this company for doing it right. If the quality of their other products is as superior I will without any hesitation purchase it. This is the tool you’ve been searching for.

    Solid built tool

This is a well built tool; very solid. The oak handle appears that it will last decades and the hoe/cultivator is NOT flimsy. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that it is heavier than the one that I previously used. I like the lighter weight of my old tool for some jobs but then I must say this tool will work very well for some tougher tasks. On my old tool the handle finally snapped but my opinion is that this handle will last a lifetime (as long as you don’t abuse it!) I would recommend this tool unless you are frail and unable to wield a heavier tool. Thumbs up to good old fashioned USA tool making!

    Wicked love it

It’s shorter than I thought, but is actually a better length than I was imaging, more manageable and just right, especially for women–heavy enough for bashing hard dirt, but not so heavy that it wears your arm out. Sturdy enough for men too (I think). It’s nicely balanced, very tough, great quality, sturdy, really well made. The head is attached to the handle instead of the end… unlike the ones that fall off and have to be glued back on. I’m doing a ginormous ground ivy removal and it rips right through it, I’ve tried about 6 other tools, this is the one. Now I finally anticipate getting through this wretched project. The hatchet end is perfect for smoothing out the soil for sod. My new fav, love it.

    Great design, not-so-great execution

I’ve used on of these for years and like it a lot. I decided to buy another for my sister. The new one is similar, but the tool end is loose on the handle. I will have to glue it to make it solid.

    A great multipurpose tool!

The hand cultivator is a handy garden tool. It is a great little hand hoe and is of enough weight to help you but not so heavy that it can’t be used repeatedly. I would recommend it over the smaller less sturdy versions.

    Sturdy and sharp

Bought this cultivator for my dad, after one he had owned for more than 10 years was either stolen or misplaced. The handle seems pretty sturdy, and the tool has good balance. I used it to dig out some clumps of oxalis from St. Augustine grass, which in So. California grows thick during the summer, the edge on the hoe sliced thru the combined greenery like butter. He’s used it for weeding in the garden and hasn’t complained which is a good thing. The soil in our garden areas is more on the sandy side than Rocky. Will update and adjust the rating upon further usage.

    Classic design, classic efficiency

This turns out to be a favorite gardener’s tool. It is amazingly easy to use,is perfectly designed for older users, and is durable for many seasons of use.A small effort with our wrist allows the tool to dig deeply, one blade fordigging, the other for churning the soil.

    A Garden MUST HAVE.

Handiest tool in your basket, bucket, or shed. But most of all in your gardening and landscaping work. Be it hardscape or carefully clearing a spot for a tender seedling, this tool does it all. It even weeds for you! ( You’ll have to provide the wo/man-power, however.)II would have given it 5 stars for sturdiness, but 6 weeks in, it lost a tine. I kept right on working – that’s how awesome this tool is! One day, as happens in my garden, I was surprised by a gift. Though usually, it’s a flower, lovely ornamental tree, or even an entire crop of tomatoe plants where none had ever been planted. This spring, I gifted with the return of the ‘borrowed’ tine, which I welded back on and now it’s as good as new. though to be truthful. I’d already replaced my three tine and had grown used to the virtues of my ‘two-tine’ which could fit into those tight little places only weeds (never plants) seem to find their way.A terrific purchase with which I’m delighted. Perhaps one day the Garden Fairies will take back the tine they kept for whatever need they had.Happy Gardening!

You get what you pay for.

I used this product for all of my gardening tasks. Unfortunately, after only a year and a half, it developed a large crack in the handle, causing the tool’ effectiveness to become seriously compromised. If there were a way to return it, I would. But, it is well past the date of return.I plan to replace it with a better more professional tool which is forged in Japan and is almost double the cost. You definitely get what you pay for.

Gets under those weed roots easily

First day to use the tool so I can’t speak for longevity but it was actually fun to pull up big clumps of crab grass and other undesirables around the garden beds. I had lost a beloved similar tool with small claw teeth so wasn’t sure if I would like this one. But it is better by far with the deep wide teeth. It gets down deep under the weed and once up and out it easily releases the weed clump to the pile. So far so good.

    Fine until it breaks

This mostly worked to till a small garden bed by hand. I had to go over each section several times. However, my 5 year old son stole it to “help” and broke off the tines with a couple enthusiastic swings. This would probably be fine for weeding, but it can’t handle large areas or rough usage. I’m now searching for a sturdier option.

    Works beautifully

This is the best tool I’ve found for digging out those nasty weeds with tap roots. It’s heavy enough to dig down and light enough to use for quite a while. I don’t use the cultivator side as much as the hoe blade, but it comes in handy for leveling my raised beds when I’m preparing to plant. The cultivator is also useful for pulling weeds with fibrous roots, while the hoe blade digs holes for transplants. Well worth the money.

Handy tool to have – head did come unlodged

I had a tool like this before, but unfortunatly, misplaced it. I ordered this one as a replacement. The handle is sturdy and feels comfortable in the hand. I have used it quite a bit over the past couple of months. The only issue I’ve had is that the head came dislodged and slid partway down the handle. That should be an easy thing to repair so it isn’t that big of a deal.

I enjoy gardening, but sometimes have a hard time getting down on the ground to do so. This tool helps me a lot. I can work up the garden or the large pots without having to get on the ground to do so.I was surprised that it was relatively sharp when it arrived also. I wasn’t expecting that. There is no wobble of the head to the handle at all. Very solid. This is a great tool that I have no hesitation recommending.
