What is SPF
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. It is a measure used worldwide to indicate the level of sunscreen protection. Using an SPF 15 sunscreen means it will take 15 times longer for skin to begin to burn than it would without sunscreen.
Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB
There are two types of ultraviolet (UV) light that can harm your skin- UVA and UVB. A Broad Spectrum sunscreen protects you from both. UVB rays are primarily responsible for causing sunburn while UVA rays are associated with skin aging.
Sunscreen Application
The recommended amount of sunscreen for the average person is 1 Fl Oz. A simple way to remember how much sunscreen to apply is imagine the amount of sunscreen that would fit in a shot glass or the size of a golf ball. Sunscreen should be applied 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapplied every 2 hours or immediately after swimming, sweating or drying off.
Traditional vs Mineral Sunscreens
There are two general types of sunscreen – traditional and mineral. Traditional sunscreens work by absorbing the sun’s rays while mineral sunscreens protect skin by blocking the sun’s rays. Whichever type you choose, make sure it provides Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

Best sunscreen I ever tried
That’s the best sunscreen I have ever used (and trust me when I say I have tried many!!).I have oily skin and live in humid weather. Still, this sunscreen leave my skin feeling and looking matte.As for the color, I had to mix fair and medium but then I get to my perfect skin tone.Love it and don’t plan to change it anytime in the near feature.

The best mineral sunblock I’ve tried so far!
I really love this product. Although it leaves a temporary white overcast on the skin after application; it doesn’t feel tacky, sticky or greasy on skin. It leaves my skin feeling matte and smooth. It also doesn’t come off easily when swimming.

Good suncreen that does not irritate my skin
I have sensitive skin and found this fragrance-free physical sunscreen suitable for my use. Not sure how effective it is as I have no way to test it. The % of active ingredients appears low compare to the other physical sunscreen in the market. I am happy that the white cast is minimum and my face does not itch while wearing this. It also works well under my liquid foundation though I only wear makeup occasionally.

Perfect to cover up the edges of face/hair when wearing a heavily zinc-ed, super casty mineral sunscreen. Great tint(im wearing medium to tan). But gets a bit dark as it oxidises, which is perfectly fine with me. I wouldn’t wear it to the whole face, very drying. Those with very very oily skin would love this.

Great formulation but dirty packaging
Have been ordering this sunscreen several times because the formulation is perfect for my combination skin in humid Singapore. But each time it comes, the packaging gets dirtier and dirtier. What I just received this morning is what you see in the photo – covered in sticky substances. Please do better Amazon.

Love this product
We have very fair skin and this sun lotion is a life saver. It works amazingly well, lasts a very long time and is safer than other more chemical based products. Once it goes on it, you really need to shower or use a wash cloth to get it off… but it works until you do remove it. We’ve never gotten burned while using this stuff and I definitely cannot say that for any other product.

Good for no-makeup make up look
I like how its tinted! It feels good on my face. Susncreens tend to break me out but this one hasn’t! It gives a nice glow. Blends in well. I like to use it on days where I don’t wish to wear much make up. It has a sheer coverage but it still glows up your face. I like that it gives a good quantity.

Our “unicorn” sunscreen
I have 2 kids with eczema and sunscreen-reactive skin. I try to purchase cruelty-free products as much as possible, and liked the idea of a physical sunscreen for the kids. A year ago we were headed to the coast and I decided to add “reef safe” to the list. Enter our own personal (expensive) sunscreen test. We headed out with a bag of different lotions, this was the one that won out and we continue to repurchase.Pros:* all that was listed above* didn’t result in rashes or (too bad) eczema (we get some eczema issues just from being out and about in the sun/sand/water so there is only so much you can do)* little scent* easy to spread on and smooth in* doesn’t sting eyes even immersed in ocean or pool water* reasonable-size tube- small enough to throw in a bag, not so small that you get just one day’s use out of it* texture is thick enough it doesn’t leak when thrown in a bag of towelsCons:* mid-range price (there are way more expensive options out there, but there are also less expensive choices)* not as easy to find locally (at least here) so order plenty ahead* will leave some whiteness (it is zinc-based, that’s a given, but this will leave a white cast)

Yo soy de cutis y piel grasa, y este bloqueador es de los pocos que hay que me ayudan a no sentir una sensación grasosa sobre la piel, además el acabado al ser mate evita que todo mi rostro termine con un brillo aceitoso. Me gusta la sensación seca que deja posterior al aplicado sobre el rostro. En ocasiones puede verse una ligera capa blanca sobre la piel pero no me molesta porque es normal, es lo que ocurre con bloqueadores con activos minerales, así que si no te gusta o molesta ese acabado busca uno que no sea mineral ya que cualquier bloqueador así ocasionará lo mismo.No lo recomiendo para pieles/cutis con tendencia seca.

Great Mineral Sunblock!
This is a great mineral sunblock. For those who are not familiar with this type of sunscreen – because it is mineral based – zinc oxide and titanium dioxide – it will sit on top of the skin, rather than ‘soak in’ as the chemical based ones do. Yes it goes on white and takes some ‘rubbing in’ and then letting it set for a few moments to dry down.I personally love mineral sunscreens for the precise reasons I don’t care for the chemical based ones – they do not have the distinctive sunscreen odor and they normally don’t irritate the skin, especially around the eyes.The Australian Gold brand has been my go to for years. I normally like the tinted version, as it does not leave any white cast and does offer a smoothing effect to my face. However, the tinted version in “Light” has been harder and harder to come by, so I decided to try the “Medium Tint” which was waaay to dark for my light skin.So I wondered what would happen if I mixed the Medium Tint with this No Tint (white) and YAY! I’ve been mixing about half and half each and works beautifully.I will say that the this non-tinted version is a little more moist or emollient than the tinted version, making it a little longer to dry back, but it’s not an issue for me. I use this over my entire face, neck and chest. Sometimes I will use a little loose powder on a fluffy brush if it still feels a little tacky after finishing my makeup.Since using these sunscreens, I have no need to use a cream or liquid foundation on my 57yo face. They leave a smooth matte finish and on the days I feel like a little more coverage, I’ll brush on a little powder foundation in those areas.

Todo lo que buscaba en un protector.
Tengo piel mixta, con bastante producción de grasa en la zona T, por lo que estaba buscando un bloqueador que me matificara y debo decir que este protector funciona mucho mejor que los primers matificantes, si lo sellas con polvo. Empecé a notar poquito brillo después de muchas horas de uso, pero de verdad que es impresionante, se mantiene casi intacto.No lo recomiendo para piel seca porque se siente algo tenso cuando se seca, aunque uses crema humectante justo antes de aplicarlo. Sí deja película blanquecina cuando recién te lo aplicas, pues es un protector mineral, pero se absorbe rápido y después de unos minutos no se nota. También lo he usado mezclándolo con la base líquida y queda igual de matte. Cuando se me acabe compraré el de color si está disponible.Otra cosa importante es que este bloqueador es amigable con los corales, es cruelty free (no experimentan en animales) y vegano.

Lo aplico todas las mañana y seca muy rápido, es matte, nada grasoso, y el color me sienta muy bien. Es súper lightweight. Sin problemas se puede aplicar foundation y sellar con polvo y no causa creasing. Comencé a dejar el maquillaje y a usar sólo el bloqueador y aunque no cubre mis manchas al 100%, las disimula muy bien, (ya que con el uso del cubrebocas el maquillaje del área de la nariz se hace feo), hace que mi cutis se vea muy saludable y al llegar a casa retiro el bloqueador con desmaquillante con un algodón. Me bronceo muuuy fácilmente y no he notado que me haya bronceado, sigo con la palidez que me dejó la cuarentena y llevo dos semanas usando el bloqueador y exponiéndome al sol de manera moderada.

Solid protection, good consistency
I’ve looking for a good mineral sunscreen as that seems to be the recommended type now, and am happy to have found the Australian Gold Botanical line. It goes on much more easily than other mineral sunscreens (like the Aveeno mineral one which is a total nightmare, so thick!). I also think the scent is quite nice. The protection is super strong–tested it for hours, in an out of water. The only downside to that is when you are done in the sun, you have to really work to get it off in the shower. It does leave a bit of a white look on your skin and I wouldn’t recommend using the body one on your face. All that said, I feel very protected when wearing it.

The BEST high level sunscreen for sensitive skin
Love, love, love this sunscreen. Wear it frequently to play golf in our warm and sunny climate. I have fair, pale skin and, with this sunscreen, I always feel protected. My very sensitive skin loves it and the scent is so light and soft. No heavy perfumes. Lots of botanical ingredients, and it’s a 100% mineral sunscreen. Always recommend it to my friends.(P.S. The tinted, everyday SPF 50 Australian Gold Botanical sunscreen is also FABULOUS, and I switch out these two products , depending on my activities.). You’ll love them!

Excellent tinted matte sunscreen for a fair price
I love this Australian Gold Tinted Sunscreen, and I have repurchased many times. I usually purchase in Light tone, as this works best with my skin tone. However I have also purchased the medium for summer months. I love the way this sunscreen spreads easily on my face and dries matte. Anyone who does not like a shiny finish to their sunscreen will appreciate this finish. When I wear this sunscreen, I do not need to wear a foundation, as the coverage is sufficient. That being said, foundation could easily be applied over it for anyone who wants to. I also love that this sun screen is SPF 50, and the price is fair. If you have dry skin, this might not be the sunscreen for you, as it is not as moisturizing as many sunscreens I have tried. Those normal to oily complexions may really enjoy this sunscreen.

I Love This Non-Nano Mineral Sunscreen For My Face!
I think the main reason this sunscreen is labeled “For Kids” is because it does not contain micronized (“nano”) minerals which are recommended to not be used on babies and children. Many mineral sunscreens today use the micronized minerals because you’re less likely to get the “white cast” that the minerals show on the skin. Also, unlike most mineral sunscreens, it’s not silicone based (which means usually at least one of the 1st few ingredients is a type of silicone). While this sunscreen does have some (look for ingredients that have “cone” or “oxane” at the end of the word), they’re in low enough quantities to where it doesn’t cause breakouts on my face, and the shea butter is rich and soothing on the skin. Yes, it takes a minute to rub it in to where I don’t see a white cast, but it’s worth it. This does a very good job of a sunblock, and it’s also the least expensive option that I have tried. I truly like this one the best – and I have paid three times this amount for much less product!

My favorite sunscreen. My friend recommended this and I love it! I don’t cringe or postponing putting this on. I work outside so liking my sunscreen and putting it on is super important!! I absolutely love how this lotion feels and smells. It goes on smooth and is pretty easy to rub in.

Excelente producto, SI SE USA CORRECTAMENTE. Cuando lo empecé a usar no me gustó: sentía que me dejaba la piel tirante, que quedaban trazos visibles y que el color era demasiado claro. ¡Lo estaba aplicando mal!Ahora lo froto entre mis dedos antes aplicarlo y lo masajeo sobre la cara con las yemas hasta que se absorbe (no es tanto tiempo). Luego lo dejo secar por uno se 5 a 10 minutos y aplico maquillaje sin problemas, de hecho funciona como primer porque deja una textura satinada. Ya no me queda la piel tirante, ni rastros y el tinte se unifica con mi color de piel. Mi tono es medio-claro (base L’Oreal Infallible 105, para referencia) y creo que no funcionaría para tonos más oscuros, lamentablemente.Una ventaja importante es que con este método de aplicación puedes usar la cantidad correcta de bloqueador, que es abundante (2 g para la cara, sin contar cuello), sin que se sienta grasoso o deje una capa burda.En fin, lo recomiendo mucho, sobre todo por la relación precio-calidad.

Favorite mineral sunscreeen
I bought a bunch of different types of mineral sunscreen for our trip near some coral reefs. My skin isn’t particularly sensitive, and I was hoping for a nice fragrance. This is one of the only ones I found that had a fragrance added. The fragrance was mild and nice, and it disappeared after a while. The sunscreen was thick and creamy. I would say it was OK as a moisturizer, but I needed some extra moisturizer, even though I was using it a lot.I found it disappeared relatively easily BUT I’m also super-pale, so I might not be the best judge. I tried one of their lightest-tinted sunscreens, and it was way too dark for my skin. I looked much better with the slight bit of white cast.I highly recommend it to any pale-skinned person without fragrance sensitivity. I still recommend it to other folks, but maybe not so highly.

Excelente para piel grasa
Me encantó, tengo la piel muy grasa y este bloqueador realmente me funcionó. Pensaba que iba a ser muy grasoso y cuando recién te lo pones si se siente muy pesado pero pasan unos 5 o 10 minutos y al contrario, seco al tacto. Este bloqueador tiene color y como no utilizo maquillaje temía que pareciera base o algo así pero para nada. Una vez que te lo distribuyes no se nota ningún tipo de color, eso sí si te limpias la nariz si va a quedar manchado el papel como si tuvieras maquillaje pero meh, es un buen producto. Ya me termine la primera botella (Me duro aprox. dos meses, tal vez un poco menos) y ya tengo otra. Si tienes piel grasa lo recomiendo altamente y si eres hombre y tienes un tono de piel no muy oscuro no se va a notar nada. Eso sí, para mí piel es un poco oscuro el tono pero ya que lo distribuyes no se nota. Deberían tener una opción sin color pero aún así es un buen producto! También debo mencionar que mi piel es muuuy propensa al acné y este producto no me produce brotes nuevos. Es resistente al agua si te lavas la cara recomiendo usar un sistema de limpieza doble, con una sola lavada no se quita todo el bloqueador.

Obsessed With This Product
I have tried hundreds of dollars worth of sunscreen in the last few years and I can honestly and confidently say that this is by far the best one, especially for my face, which has always been extremely sensitive and prone to breakouts. This stuff goes on thick, so you need to rub it in and spread it well, but once it’s on, it STAYS on. You will need a loofa to remove it. I’m very fair-skinned and it doesn’t take much sun exposure for me to burn but I’ve used this in Florida, Mexico, and the Bahamas, and even after hours in the sun, I was not even the slightest bit burnt. Occasionally I’ll reapply after swimming (it’s also reef-safe, which I love), but even when I don’t, I’m amazed at this product.

Tiene buen aroma y cumple con su funcion, lo compre porque es mineral y por lo tanto mas sano para utilizarlo en el cuerpo pero si recomendaria que al utilizarlo se frote la area lo suficiente para que no quede blanco ya que como no es grasa cuesta un poco mas de trabajo que se desvanezca.

Received this sunscreen in our asian winter (12°c / 54°F). This looks like a thick creamy paste right out of tube, not sure if it will become slightly more runny in warmer weather. Dries out matte on skin, also not sure if it will feel different on skin in warmer weather.This leaves a very obvious white cast even with little amount. All the dermatologists on youtube said ¼ teaspoon of sunscreen is the proper amount for face. With this sunscreen, I would rather wear a ski mask than wearing ¼ tsp of this on my face.Luckily, I also got a new tube of Australian Gold tinted sunscreen.

Protects but not fully clear when applied
It definitely protected us from the Puerto Rico summer sun but it left a white film on our skin, which wasn’t attractive on my brown skin. Also, very hard to clean off, we used a lot of soap but it wouldn’t come off, it took a couple washes and some heavier scrubbing. Smells delicious and much better than other’s we’ve tried!

Better than the rest for waterproof applications
I recently couldn’t find my bottle of Aussie gold and used a couple of other bottles that were still on my shelf. I hated them. This sunscreen is superior because it is easy to spread on the skin, nonsticky once it’s on there, and truly waterproof. It is oil-based so you can rub it off and need to reapply, but it does not dissolve off just from getting wet (like the Badger “water resistant” stuff does). Oh yeah and it smells good.Tip for wilderness trippers who want to remove the white stuff at night: I carry cotton swabs wetted with isopropyl alcohol cut with witch hazel skin toner, and wipe the oils off my face in the evening. I put this cleaner in a tiny “pill bag” ziplock so they don’t weigh much. This way I don’t mind covering my exposed face and hands with oily sunscreen each morning!Tip for whitewater kayakers who can’t afford to have oil on their palms: Apply a dollop of this sunscreen to the back of one hand. Use your ring finger of your non-control hand to dab it on your nose, cheeks, and wherever else. Then use the backs of both hands to spread it around. This keeps your grip from getting greasy!

My go-to sunscreen!
This is my go-to sunscreen! It has a light, pleasant scent and spreads easily. It’s not too thick, not too thin and not at all greasy. It dries to a touchable texture in about 10 minutes usually. It does have a bright white color due to the mineral content and can leave a slight white cast, but that’s not a big deal to me. I use the tinted version for my face to avoid that. It seems to have good coverage and I have not gotten a burn wearing it. It has great sticking power – you really have to scrub to get it off. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the best mineral sunscreen for the money, and a great sunscreen for daily wear.

It’s not my favorite – I changed my mind
I have a light/medium complexion and have never used sunscreen in my life but I had some hyperpigmentation spots show up on my face so I went to the dermatologist and was given a cream to put before bed and told that I needed to start using sunscreen.My dermatologist suggested several brands (all with Iron Oxides and at least SPF 50). I actually purchased two brands that he suggested (La Roche-Posay – 1.7 oz for $33.50 and this one – 3 oz for $15.99), two that were not on his list but still have iron oxides and are still at least SPF 50 (Cotz Flawless Complexion – 2.5 oz for $25, Predator Warpaint mineral sunscreen – 1.65 oz for $9.95), and three smaller tubes to keep in my purse for reapplication throughout the day that still have iron oxides but a lower SPF (Andalou Naturals BB Cream – 2 oz for $14.85, Atomy BB Cream 1.4 oz for $11.96, and Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream – 1 oz for $8.00).Out of the two that my dermatologist suggested that I purchased (La Roche-Posay and AG), I prefer the La Roche-Posay. Both go on smooth and the color match for both is great but I feel that the La Roche-Posay covers much better and I can use the sunscreen without having to put powder or anything else to help cover. I also feel that the La Roche-Posay makes my face feel much softer. However, the La Roche-Posay is also double the price for half the size as the AG so I’ll have to pick my battle there.I know this isn’t a review for the others I purchased, but I do want to add (in case anyone is in the same spot as me of searching for a sunscreen that suits them), the Cotz Flawless Complexion is great, it’s a tad lighter and leaves a tad of a sticky feel (opposite to La Roche-Posay and AG), but coverage is great and price is in the middle of the La Roche-Posay and the AG. I have not tried the Predator Warpaint one yet so I can’t comment on that one other than it was cheap.As far as the ones I had bought for my purse… The Andalou Naturals is a tad too light for my complexion, but coverage is good and I would probably buy it again if I couldn’t find my favorite one. The Atomy BB Cream is NOT recommended at all. Although it was only $12, it makes me look like a ghost and I dislike the way it spreads and feels on my face (a bit “chalky”). If I didn’t care about wasting, it would already be in the trash. The Maybelline BB Cream is my favorite that I bought for my purse. Great coverage, goes on smooth, matches great, and price was decent.Therefore my favorites of the SPF 50 that I have tried in order of favorite to least favorite are:La Roche-PosayCotz Flawless ComplexionAGMy favorite that I had bought for my purse in order from favorite to least favorite are:MaybellineAndalouAtomyI hope this helps someone out there.4/8/2022 UPDATE: After using the AG and the Cotz for about 5 months or so now, I have changed my mind. My favorites in order are: La Roche-Posay, AG, thenCotz Flawless Complexion. After using them for a while (and now that the weather is getting warmer), I found the Cotz was giving me a very greasy feel and made my face look so shiny and gross! I also noticed that the coverage is not great now that it has been so warm. The AG does not make me as shiny, it covers better (because it doesn’t seem to melt off my face), and it matches my skin better. I have purchased another bottle of the AG and I will not be purchasing the Cotz anymore. For under $20, the AG is my first pick. If money wasn’t a deciding factor, it would still be the La Roche-Posay.Also… I have had a lot of progress with my hyperpigmentation after my derm told me to start using Heliocare Advanced or Ultra. So if you are struggling with hyperpigmentation/melasma, you might want to look into that.

Best Mineral Sunscreen We’ve Tried!
Excellent sunscreen thats all natural and reef safe. Really great sun protection that lasts a long time, even in water. In fact, it can be a little work to scrub it off if you don’t use soap/body wash. This outlasts spray sunscreen by far, has no odor and is a great balance of quality and cost. I’ve looked at lots of other mineral sunscreens that are 2 or 3 times the cost, this one wins.Application tip: apply to hands and rub around a little, then lightly dab around the whole area you want to apply to. Once theres small amounts around the whole area rub it in fully (e.g. dab 4 times up the front and back of your arm, then start rubbing in with more pressure).

Leaves a whitecast
Starting to be skeptical over all the youtube recommendations on this product. It has a strange sweet scent that you will get sick of if you’re wearing it on your face everyday. Plus the worst thing is, this leaves a strong white cast!!It’s difficult to remove (can be a good or bad thing).Think i’ll just stick to paula’s choice for everyday use. But if i’m doing outdoor sports or swimming, this is not a bad choice.

Love this foundation. Very light but still gives coverage and also gives protection against the sun.It does come in different skin tones so check before ordering. If fair skinned make sure you order lightest shade.

Great mineral protection that doesn’t leave a white cast
I recently switched over from chemical sunscreen to physical, or mineral sunscreen, and chose the Australian Gold brand. It smells nice, applies easily and doesn’t leave a white cast once you rub it in. I am Hispanic and my skin is olive tan, so white would really stand out, but this really doesn’t leave you with that weird cast on your skin. I find that in a pinch I can also apply it to my face, although I prefer to use a face sunscreen instead. But when I have applied it to my face, it doesn’t break me out or irritate my skin. The only downside is that I found it way cheaper at another store, so I won’t be reordering from Amazon, but I will stick with Australian Gold.
