After Using This For A Month I’m Changing My Review..I’ll Buy This Again
Edit 3-10-18: I’m actually going to leave my original review below so you can see how someone’s opinion can change if they give a product a chance. I wrote a 3 star review listing what I didn’t like about the product. No point in rehashing here. You can read below. Here’s what I think of Aquaphor Advanced Theraphy Healing Ointment after using it for for two months. I have increased this to a 5 star review with the understanding that it’s still greasy but it’s worth the effort to use it.First…why did I buy this in the first place? I had some kind of dry skin condition on my left hand that seemed to be getting progressively worse over time. The skin on the inside of my hand at the base of my thumb was actually getting thick and painful. I was seriously thinking about seeing a dermatologist. It seemed to be aggravated by having my hands in water a lot. I was using coconut oil and Emu oil and Dr. Bronner’s hand and body lotion but it wasn’t helping very much. The effected area seemed to be spreading but only on my dominate hand. I suspect it was some kind of dermatitis. I decided to try Aquaphor. At first I wasn’t happy with the geasiness of the product. Again…see what I wrote below. I did keep using it though and slowly my hand started to get better. I purchased “Zealor 16 Pairs White Cotton Gloves” here on Amazon. I’d put the ointment on and then put the gloves on to keep things I touched from getting greasy. Within 20 minutes or so I could take the gloves off and the greasiness was gone. By the way…these gloves are really nice. They even wash well in the washing machine. I applied the ointment several times a day. At night I’d put a generous amount on and wear the gloves to bed. There’s no denying it did the job. My hand has now cleared up. I also purchased and started wearing “Liberty nitrile textured industrial grade powder free gloves” when I’m going to have my hands in dish water for any length of time or I’m doing any cleaning. My left hand is not soft and my problems are gone. I’ll keep using this product. By the way, it’s much cheaper to buy a tub of this stuff instead of the little tubes. I don’t think it’s something I want to carry around in my purse to use because I do think it’s too greasy for that. I can’t argue with success though..this worked…lol. Now to my original review:To start, the 3 stars is for the cost of buying glorified petroleum jelly. I saw all the impressive reviews so bought 2 tubes to put in my purse and on my desk. What I didn’t know was the ingredients info is kind of misleading here. I’m not saying it doesn’t work or there’s anything wrong with it. Im just saying it’s expensive for what it is. I paid $4.76 for a 1.75 oz tube of Aquaphor and $3.48 for a 7.5 oz jar of Vaseline with Cocoa Butter.I tried the Aqualphor as soon as it arrived today. I put a tiny bit on my hands about 1/2 an hour ago and my hands are still slightly sticky. It’s definitely not something I want to use as a quick moisturizer. I don’t want to touch anything for a while after using it which led me to look at the ingredients ON the tube itself. Below this review is a list of ingredients I found and what they are. Bottom line for me…I’ll use these two tubes up on my hands before I go to bed at night when I’m not going to be touching anything after use. When these are gone I’ll use MUCH cheaper Vaseline with Cocoa Butter. There is ONLY ONE ACTIVE ingredient listed on the tube…petrolatum (and yes, I spelled it correctly). I looked it up. Petrolatum is another word for petroleum jelly.Under INACTIVE ingredients I found mineral oil, Ceresin, lanolin alcohol, panthenol, glycerin, and bisabolol. Even though the tube lists these as inactive ingredients I looked them up and listed the info below to be fair.Mineral Oil: Is a distillation product of petroleum, especially one used as a lubricant, moisturizer, or laxative.Bisabolol: Wikipedia says Bisabolol has been used for hundreds of years in cosmetics because it is known to have anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties.Ceresin: It is a wax processed from earthwax or ozocerite. Wikepedia says it’s an alternative to bee’s wax.Lanolin alcohol: Lanolin alcohol is a non-drying organic compound produced from lanolin, the fat of wool shearings, which has been reacted with acetic acid and a small amount of lye. Acetylated lanolin alcohol can also be inflammatory to those with wool or lanolin allergies, and should be avoided in such cases.Panthenol: Panthenol is the alcohol analog of pantothenic acid, and is thus a provitamin of B5.

Cradle cap dream
I have tried five different oils to keep my 3 month old from dry skin and cradle cap. I used this and it worked instantly. Usually the oils will be put on at night and his skin is crazy dry in the morning. But this lasted all night, applied a small amount in the morning to last during day while I went to work and his skin was still moist. So happy I invested in this. I also use as chapstick.

Best lip care product ever!!
Aquaphor is a Game-changer for dry lips. I pick at my lips due to anxiety and this repairs them overnight. There isn’t much of a scent. The formula is so rich and hydrating without feeling greasy. It is now a staple in my lip care routine! The value is also amazing! I have used laneige lip masks and while I like them I just don’t want to spend $20 for something that is a tenth of the size of this container.

Amazing Product!
I am a firm believer in this product. I’ve purchased 2 large jars of the healing ointment, a balm stick, and also the shampoo/body wash and I’ve not been disappointed in any of the items. What began as being pleased with the quick healing of my dry elbows turned into full-blown appreciation each time I removed the lid from the containers. My skin has always been sensitive and with age, it’s also thinned and is dry pretty much, year-round where it used to be a winter-only occurrence. This product is like packaged magic. I have ear cartilage piercings and now and then the earrings will irritate and make my ears sore…I tried rubbing a bit of the Aquaphor on the area after I removed the earrings and by morning, they were good as new. A bug bite was no match against the healing powers of this ointment, and neither was an infected hair or a sore fingernail cuticle. I grab the Aquaphor instead of antibiotic cream or my lavender essential oil. I’m just as pleased with the shampoo/body wash, it’s extremely mild, does not leave my hair looking or feeling greasy and it rinses clear quickly. I truly recommend these products, they’re like my favorite beautician, a primary care physician and dermatologist all live inside of the containers.

Great, but check the expiration.
So let me start off by saying that I dislike petroleum products just because they aren’t naturally made. Im picky towards products because of it, and maybe I shouldn’t be, but I just am.Because of that, when my daughter at 2 mos got her first diaper rash, it was irritated on her pubic area, not her tookis, I tried every natural cream and balm and powder to help comfort and heal her. It didn’t work. Then I went to the mass marketed diaper creams, nothing worked and they were a chore to clean up the next diaper change and from my hands. Enter, aquaphor. I had it on my registry, because why not, and it was purchased for me, and thought, screw it, it can’t hurt. And it didn’t. It was the only thing that made her skin better, within days, her irritation went away and her skin was healing. It was amazing. I now slather this on her as a preventative measure all the time. I feel bad because I hate using a petroleum product on her, but if it works it works and at the end of the day I will put my feelings aside for her well being. That’s what a parent is supposed to do, right? She also started getting really rough skin around her elbows and on her shoulders. Enter aquaphor again. Now every night I slather this on her liberally and put on her sleeper and in the morning is much smoother than it was the night before. Is her skin perfect, no, but it’s getting that way.Anyways, I’ve been using so much of this stuff, and it’s been working, I decided to make this purchase to have it always on hand. The 14 ounces is great and the 1.75 ounce is meant for the diaper bag.I will say check the expiration. The 14 oz expires 5 months from now and the tube in 4 months. That isn’t a problem for me now because I know that I will use it up for baby, but in the future I will buy from the store, even if it is a bit more expensive. Just to have that peace of mind. My first tube that I got from my registry expires a year from now and I got that 3 months ago.I will also state that I’ve been using it on myself too. After slathering it on my body I’ll rub the excess on to my elbows and wrists, and if I’m wearing shorts, I’ll rub into my knees. I’ve always heard about “slugging” in the skincare community, so I sometimes do that. I really just put a dab under my eyes at night to keep the moisture in and this does not irritate my eyes at all. Also i recently got a huge gash in my arm that I have been having to keep wrapped up until it heals. I can’t say anything about the effect of aquaphor on it because it hasn’t healed yet, but I believe that keeping a wound moist and not letting it dry out helps speed up the healing process and aquaphor is what I have been putting on it, before covering it with a bandage, to help with that. I do have high hopes that it will heal quickly.

I really like this ointment. It’s very healing and feels good on the skin. After I apply it on my skin it stays on for most of the day or night. I do recommend the ointment especially if your skin is dry! Also, it’s very good for sunburns!

The best
One of the only moisturizers that truly helps heal my dry skin patches. I sometimes have to handle a lot of cardboard at work, and my hands get torn up and dry. Aquaphoe helps heal and restore more than any lotion. Runner up is Vaseline, but this stuff is like Vaseline+. Love it

Works great with one draw back!
This product works great for extremely dry and cracked hands ( for those of us who spend a ton of time in the kitchen!)The one draw back for me, is that I have to use it when I am pretty much done touching stuff. It is super oily, (which is why it works so well!) so I just put it on at the end of my day when I am relaxing.

This is a healing ointment. Due to age and chemo, my skin became very dry. Dr told me to pt this on right after my shower before drying off. I cannot believe how much better my skin feels. It comes in many sizes for versatility. It is very thick so easy to use. You don’t have to use a lot so it’s a good value. My sister who lives up north uses it during the winter and loves it. There seems to be coupons and specials regularly so we can stock up.

GREAT for dry/sensitive skin!!
I like the most that it provides instant relief and begins to soften cracked skin. What can be a barrier is the petroleum base on your fingers when you are up and about. To mitigate this, I put a pea size amount on my palm, massage it all over my hands, then take a paper towel and wipe excess of my palm side. Also, I generously apply it at night without using the paper towel. Perfect fix. This product is great for knees, elbows, heels…etc. that are dry and cracked. Sensitive skin will thank you.

Had the itchy dried out skin every winter for years now. It became almost unbearable this year. My daughter in-law suggested this product and WOW what a quality of life improvement it has been. Get out of the shower and put it on your feet and legs etc… and you are good to go. I used it two days in a row. Skipped a couple of days and used it again. It has been about a week since I used it and I may apply it again here in the next couple of days but it seems to work magic for days.

Awesome product, I feel and look so young.
I Love Aquaphor, I am a first time user of this product, recommended by Khloe Kardashian on the web series Hot Ones. I use it on my face and make sure to rub it in well to minimize the greasy look. I think I look more youthful with less wrinkles as a 42 year old man. Thanks Aquafor and KK.

My doc recommended it & it’s great for super dry skin.
My doc recommended, and I wasn’t surprised given what’s written on the jar (#1 doctor recommended)! When I first used it, it reminded me of petroleum jelly, which made sense since I then saw listed in the ingredients (41% petrolatum). Regardless, if you don’t mind the wet/slightly greasy feel on application, you’ll definitely feel nicer/softer skin very quickly. The good thing is that the wet/greasy feel goes away after 10-15 minutes, just be sure to rub/massage the ointment on your skin for a few minutes (the longer the better). BE SURE to use a SMALL amount (pea size!) and use more as needed, a little of this goes a long way and this big size jar may last you up to a year.

Best ever
I have used Aquaphor for YEARS. During the winter my hands would get so dry and cracked that they would bleed. I have used other lotions before but since Aquaphor is unscented it has worked the best for me. I use this primarily only at night since it is very thick, so I don’t usually wear it during the day.An added bonus is that you can use Aquaphor as a moisturizing lip balm.

Great for dry lips
I bought the aquaphor healing ointment mainly for my dry/chapped lips. No matter what chapstick or lip moisturizer I used, my lips remained super dry and crackly. I started using this healing ointment on my lips in place of all of my chapsticks and lip moisturizers and it was the best decision ever! My lips have never been more moisturized. It is not too thick or sticky and practically tasteless. I love it!

Product appearance varies, depending on “proprietary “source
I have used this product for many years. My recent purchase concerned me because the appearance of the product color was different from anything I have seen in the past. I called the company and it was explained that if it was made in the US, it would Not be stated on the product. If it is made outside of the US, such as Mexico, it Is stated on the container. It was also explained that, depending on the source of their proprietary ingredients, the color may vary from opaque to yellow. It could not be explained what the chemical differences were, that would cause such variation in appearance and how those source ingredients may affect the quality of the product. My photo shows the contrast in color of the two new products with the lighter one on top of the jar 🫙.
