OKish
This was bought for a Christmas present for an 11 year old – She was unable to download her smart watch app as this is not available on the tablets app store – bizarre. YOU CANNOT LOAD FAMILY LINK onto the devise therefore a risk to children’s safety and what they are accessing online. I would not buy this for children had I known I would have purchased one that is compliant to childrens security.

Not as good as my old kindle
I don’t really care for my new kindle. It comes on quickly, but it took an age to download a certain App that i use all the time and now I am constantly having to restart it, or turn it off completely due to some weird glitch that I can’t make head nor tail of in order to carry on with the particular App. Also the charging point is larger than my old device so of course I cannot use my two existing chargers on this one which is pretty annoying. It does come with a charger, but the old device had the universal type charging point that this model does not.

A decent cheap tablet if you want something for the Amazon ecosystem
I’ve had Kindles for as long as I can remember; except for the very first model, the one with the keyboard, I’ve had nearly every iteration of the device. I currently use a Kindle Oasis, and also read Kindle books on an iPad mini. I wanted to try an Amazon Fire tablet because I’d never used one, never had any Android tablet, and it seemed like an interesting way to see what inexpensive technology offers today. For £70 – I don’t want ads on my device – I think it’s a fair price, since it is so much more than a Kindle. The screen isn’t HD, and that’s immediately obvious, at least when you look at text or video. At 171 ppi, the resolution is much less than any iPad, and the Oasis, which is 300 ppi. But it’s not that much of a problem when reading text, at least at the fairly large font size I use.Using the Audible app is exactly the same as on my iPhone or iPad, and the display doesn’t matter much. The speaker in tinny and flat, so you need to listen via headphones or a Bluetooth speaker. I didn’t expect much more from a device this price. One of the biggest problems I see is with how slow the device is, even when loading, for example, the Audible app, the Prime Music app, or the Prime Video app. It takes a minimum of five seconds, and sometimes longer, for the apps’ contents to display. This is probably because there’s not much RAM, and apps need to load a lot of assets the first time, or they need to reload a lot when you switch away to several apps then come back. Loading is quick when switching just between two apps, because the memory seems able to hold on to that much data.As for watching video, it’s obviously not HD, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. At full brightness, the screen is bright, but it’s painful to watch any video because of the reflectivity of the display. I assume you can get a non-reflecting screen protector, and I would recommend it if you do plan to watch video; otherwise, it’s like looking in a mirror. The wi-fi is a bit slow; the specs say it supports 802.11n, and, in my tests, I got at best 56 Mb/sec a few feet from my Orbi mesh wifi base station. My iPhone in the same location got over 150 in the same location. I don’t have wi-fi 6 on the Orbi, so it could be that the Fire isn’t able to connect at 802.11n speed, but it should be able to do so. This said, you won’t be downloading much, because even videos won’t be very large. I did, however, notice this in the download speed for audiobooks. So, for me, this is a nice device to use to read Kindle books, when I don’t want to use one of my other (yes I have too many) devices. With headphones, it will be fine for listening to audiobooks and music, but the reflections on the screen make it hard to watch video. The overall slowness of the tablet isn’t surprising at the price, and I don’t think anyone expects it to rival a £300 iPad or Android tablet. You get what you pay for, and as long as you’re aware of the limitations, this is a decent cheap tablet.

Definitely not for gaming
This product seem to do almost everything well, with the exception of gaming. I know its the cheapest fire tablet you can get, but it should be able to handle some games once in a while. It seems to quit back to the home Screen more often than not. My daughter wants to play Roblox on it – forget it! won’t load. Disappointed….

Mainly to replace Kindle
Main reason for this purchase was to replace my Kindle. I get the same features as the Kindle with the added benefit of easily accessing links at the end of the books, which wasn’t very good before. I also like that I can play games and add my photo albums. All in all, a good buy.

Slightly Smaller than Previous Kindle Fire model.New Case required
The battery life is much improved over previous two (Kindle)-Fire devicesVery easy to setup .This is the No-Ad variation, which promised myself after the long ad load up time on the old Fire .The Charging input is Bigger ,new style connector ,now compatible with my Phone Charger.I have noticed as I put the old protective cover on ,that this New Fire is slightly shorter than The old, so new cover required.

No mirror cast
Bought this via a friends Amazon account. Nifty piece of kit if you are 100% into Amazon stuff. Unfortunately it has no mirroring facility and will not cast if you add the Google play store by sideloading. I use my older Amazon tablet to cast music files via poweramp to my TV and it works flawlessly but the fire 7 (2022) is just incapable. Back to my older fire tablet for now and put this up on an auction site. I know it’s not designed to do what I want it to do so I’m not giving it a bad review, it’s just not flexible enough anymore. Looks like I’ll be searching for a Google play device instead. Hope this review was helpful to someone anyway.

Smaller than it’s predecessor
It’s a standard Fire 7, just irritating that it’s smaller than the previous Fire 7 tablet and buttons are in different positions which means that it doesn’t fit the case I already have. The new configuration doesn’t appear to make the pad any easier to use, so seems to be a case of relocating things for the sake of it which is just a personal annoyance.Other than that pad works as expected and I will likely purchase another when this one is spent.

Big improvement on previous Fire
We use our Fire tablets primarily for reading Kindle books, and browsing internet, buying our Kindle books etc., but OS seems faster and not as clunky as our previous Fire. Easy to navigate set up and tweaks. Good screen resolution. Much longer battery life. For the price I can’t fault it.

A Great Way to Both Read all My eBooks, while also Staying in Touch With Everything!
My daughter first persuaded me to get a tablet.I was really not into them, but she bought me my first one – and the minute I realised how much easier they were to work with, there was no holding me back.My first one was pretty basic so, when I saw this in a Black Friday Sale, and so cheap for what it is, I didn’t hesitate to buy it.I really enjoy using it, and put in a huge extra memory card, to deal with my eBook addiction, which it accepted easily.Even after constant use, this holds it’s charge well, and I love that, if I close the cover I bought for it, it goes on standby automatically, so the charge isn’t drained!I’m really enjoying using this, and have even started using it more like a larger version of my smartphone – it’ll take me a bit more time to be totally comfortable with using every feature, but then, I grew up without all the gadgets, so it just takes me a little longer to work it all out!I’m very happy with my purchase!

Amazon fire 7 tablet
Good value for money. Easy to set up as I had a previous fire tablet.Took some photos that I wanted to download on to ebay. Ebay would not accept them as they were in heic format. Contacted customer services to see if I could change the format. A young lady tried very hard to help me and spent a long afternoon becoming obsessed with th ebay side of things despite my telling her that it was the photo recording format I had a problem with. She obviously knew nothing about that.I have concluded that the kindle records photos in heic not jpeg but I do not know if I can change this . Neither does your woman in customer services!Otherwise the kindle is fine for how I want to use it. I’m sure it does lots of other wonderful things that I will never use, being old and not wanting to learn too many new technology things.

I think this is good value for money . And great for a kids first tablet … I will be giving this to my 2 year old next month as a present . Youm can download apps like Disney+ , Netflix ect also learning games and audiobooks which my baby loves !I have only had this in my hand for a maximum of 30 minutes so I can’t really say much on it but it does seem good value for money the system was abit slow however the tablet was on 16% charged rather fast also has parental controls as I uploaded a photo which I think is brilliant! Also comes with a charger and PLUG ! which is brilliant I hope it last and my son enjoys was also very easy to set up especially if the parent or guardian has an Amazon account already existing .

3.5 Out of 4. How good you’ll feel this is, will depend on your needs.
I picked up a Fire 7 tablet to replace my dying Kindle eReader. I couldn’t justify the expense of a new eReader at the moment, especially given that I only read maybe 2-3 books a month. The Fire 7 serves as a suitable replacement (for now), in that it’s light in weight and small enough to keep in my pocket. I have used a SD card to expand the internal storage and have plenty of space to also download films to watch on my travels. The screen is just ok. If you like to read comics or graphic novels you will need to make use of the horizontal scroll or panel view for purchases made through Amazon. The screen isn’t clear enough to make out text/images properly (in the ones I’ve read anyway). As a reader of eBooks, it is more than acceptable. Text is clear, the blue light filter is useful for night time reading, and when using for reading only, I seem to be able to get about a week and a half out of the battery (I usually read on the evenings for about 30mins to an hour). The main issue is that this device is 2 years old and only has 2GB’s of RAM. With all the software updates since it’s original release, it is starting to struggle with even it’s built in apps, let alone apps downloaded from the app store, it can be sluggish and unresponsive at times. I can see why Amazon are looking to ditch Android in favor of a Linux based OS, hopefully future devices will run a lot smoother despite RAM restrictions. All in all, if you want something for on the go, to read and watch a film/show then you really can’t go wrong with this, although you might want to invest in a pair of headphones as the speakers are quite weak. Web browsing is ok, but demanding sites are slow to load. It does depend entirely on what you want to use it for. It meets basic needs, but that’s all. 3.5 stars out of 5 for me.

Small and light but glitchy
The main thing about this tablet is that it is cheap and pre-set up to be perfect for the Amazon ecology. You can switch it on, sign in and get on with reading. Overall, I’d say it is good value. However, if you just want to read you’d be better off with an ordinary kindle which is much lighter and less distracting. Also the Kindle Fire’s battery is not great: it takes a long time to charge and it needs recharging farmyoo often for my liking. The real downside is that this really isn’t a very good tablet (and, actually, why should it be when it only costs £70?). The weaknesses of the tablet are that it is very ‘laggy’: apps take a while to respond. Secondly, the screen is not touch sensitive enough. For most people the biggest drawback will be that the app store is Amazon’s own and many of the apps you normally access via the Google Play Store are not available. (There is a way of installing the Google Play Store and I have done that and that makes the whole tablet much better.) I do find the Kindle Fire useful but I’d recommend buying a basic Kindle ereader + a much better tablet. This device is really the worst of both worlds.

not great
i recieved this yesterday, downloaded 9 books and also netflix, bbc iplayer and borrowbox. so 3 apps. i got the 16gb one and now only have 7gb left, so this is not for heavy readers like me as i do not think the storage will last me very long. the battery life is also not great, i recieved it on 70% and then after reading for 2 hours it was 40%. i left it on charge for 45 minutes and it only went up to 60%. i’m not sure if this is worth the £60 i paid yet but i will find out. i also have found that some of the books i want are cheaper to buy the paperback copy than the kindle version which is slightly disappointing. i’m making full use of my kindle unlimited free trial at the minute but after it runs out i will not be continuing to pay it when i also pay for prime… so probably won’t get much use out of the kindle after then because if the paperbacks are cheaper i will be buying them

Great product
I’m glad I paid for no ads. It’s a great tablet and there’s more apps than there used to be. Now they have Alexa. 2 reasons why it’s not 5 stars. 1. The volume is too soft 2. The read aloud function is not the same as it used to be in the older models, which is why I bought it as I have a visual impairment and like books! I assume this is because Amazon has some kind of deal with audible which is pathetic. Give people control of their devices! They have paid for them!

It’s a pretty solid and affordable unit
I didn’t know what to expect from the 2022 amazon fire model. Having had android tablets before I know they can generally be a bit slow and under performing.First things first – out of the box the unit is great – it’s super light – the denim colour is nice and it actually feels pretty nice in the hand. The screen display is pretty good quality compared to some other cheap android equivalents so I was really happy with this. The integration to amazon services is really good and one of the best sellers of this tablet, it integrates nicely with alexa and is happy to help you manage your home from the tablet – even with some control of ring doorbell etc.My main criticism of the device is the app store – it’s severely lacking in popular apps. Things that you would consider as standard apps for apple and google play store just aren’t available in the amazon app store which really restricts the usage of the app in my opinion. If you want a tablet that;- Allows you to browse the internet- Take advantage of all the amazon eco-system- Is cheap as chipsThis really is the tablet for you.If you want a tablet that has some level of app support – unfortunately I would recommend looking elsewhere for another google equivalent. I would imagine that a lot of users are upgrading their tablet from a previous generation so hopefully this isn’t a concern and is definitely a worthwhile upgrade from earlier models.Overall very impressed with it generally – I just wish the app store was a bit more extensively supported by app developers.
