    Finally! Happy Baby! Happy Mommy!

I’m not a first time Mom. I have several children. I thought all my experience meant something, I thought wrong. My newborn was born in January. Soon as he was delivered at 37 weeks, he seemed so uncomfortable. The nurses noticed too and suggested in the hospital to put him on Enfamil gentlelease. So we continued it at home till we seen the pediatrician a few days later for weight check. He was having over 15 poops a day. He was also not resting at all and all red face from gas and crying. We couldn’t put him down. The pediatrician said it was a lactose allergy and to switch to Similac sensative as it had no lactose compared to the Enfamil gentlease. Well we did that for a month and my baby was still struggling.Would not sleep more then a half hour peacefully and it would be only in our arms. We were sleepless. I could not place him down at all in a swing or a bouncer before he wake up crying in pain. We were doing gas drops as well and he was still very unsettled. Waiting for his two month check up seemed so far away. So I went ahead and bought a case of this formula. Let me tell you that it was within 24 hours my baby complexion showed through. He wasn’t a red pepper after all. Within 48 hours we got a huge smile and coos. That was amazing. Within 36 hours he slept in his bassinet for three hours stretches the first time since he was born and not in my arms. He woke up just for feeds and went back down with ease. His reflux improved. No more projectile vomiting through his nose and mouth. No more choking and coughing. No more congestion fromThe milk. I have a happy baby now. One that more comfortable. No more walking around like a zombie, sleepless and trying everything you can read and purchase to sooth a colic baby. This stuff is liquid gold. It was our saving grace. I get to enjoy him more at this tiny stage. I get to be full functional with more rest and less stress. Do not hesitate to get it. Does it have a weird smell? .Well, we joke the baby smells like a potato but I will take that over covered in vomit and changing outfits and more crying changing him. Does it taste bad. I tasted it, it sweet at first then leaves a bitter after taste. It’s not that much different in taste then other Similacs.Does it work? It absolutely does! Is it worth the price? Yes it is compared to all the gas drops, gripe water, every bottle that swears to reduce gas and colic, bouncers, swings and carriers we purchased and who knows what else we would of gotten just to get some rest. It is so worth it. Happy baby makes for more bonding and more functional parents. A new baby will have you up at nights for feedings and changes but there a whole new ball game when it’s just what you expect. Compared to crying, unsettled, screaming in pain red faced. You feel hopeless when you can’t help your baby or take away their pain. Don’t hesitate to try it. It’s a saving grace.Update: I joined Similac rewards the coupons online have been pretty good and ordering as well directly from them you get 5 percent off when it’s not available here on Amazon.

    Happy Baby!

The first two weeks of my daughter’s life, she was very colicky. We couldn’t figure out what was wrong. She constantly wanted to eat, but would arch her back, squirm, and cry while nursing. Everyone said her constantly wanting to eat was normal, but I knew it wasn’t. She was so gassy and would spit up so much. It seemed to me like she was in pain, and eating soothed her pain for a moment, but then it would get so much worse after a few sips. When she would finish a feed, she would cry and arch until the next time. She started having really strange looking poop – green or black in color and very wet. Our pediatrician said that she probably has a dairy allergy, which made so much sense. She gave us a sample of Alimentum, and that night she immediately became a different baby. She was full and content, no longer arching her back or constant gas. She ate her bottle and fell asleep immediately, like she was finally at peace enough to sleep well.At first, I was very against using formula during her first year. I desperately wanted to breastfeed, both for her nutrition and to bond with her. I had to let that go, which was very difficult for me. Giving her Alimentum was one of the best decisions we made in the beginning, and it didn’t hinder my ability to bond with her whatsoever. If anything, it helped our bond because I wasn’t as exhausted as the first few weeks. My partner is grateful as well, as she was able to give her a bottle and bond with her more than she was when I was breastfeeding. Not to mention that she was a happier baby as a result. We just want the best for her, and clearly the best was Alimentum. We have used this formula for the past twelve months, and she has been a happy, well-fed baby. She is in the 85 percentile for weight and height, when before she was losing weight. We were worried about the reviews saying that it tasted and smelled bad, which is true, but it didn’t affect her at all. She loves her bottles and doesn’t mind the taste whatsoever. We started with the powder version, but we found the liquid far more convenient. It is worth the extra cost, plus the powder version is harder to find. We use Subscribe and Save, and get 15% off. There is nowhere you can find it for a better price. Buying the formula on Amazon has saved us hundreds.I cannot say enough good things about this formula. It saved us in her colicky newborn stage, and it has helped her thrive into toddlerhood. Even though using formula wasn’t what we had wanted, it wound up being far better than anything we could have imagined.

PREEMIE APPROVED!** NO MORE SPITTING UP ARCHING BACK OR FUSSINESS!

What can I say, I’m sure most first time parents like us went down this formula rabbit hole. My son was born preemie at 29 weeks and 3 days! Long story short while in the hospital that had him taking half breastmilk/neosure. We were finally discharged when my son was 2 1/2 months old. 🙂 Thank goodness the universe made sure our little nugget was perfectly healthy and no major issues. FAST FORWARD. My son is now 5 1/2 months. When he came home my milk supply dropped and dried out. He was 3 1/2 months at this time. We gave him neosure thinking because he was already taking it it would be ok…IT WAS NOT! My poor baby arched, cried, was in visable pain, constipated, projectile vomiting the whole nine! So we went down the formula rabbit hole tried basically everything pro sensitive, total comfort, the list goes on. I reached out to one of his NICU nurses and she suggested Alimentum. While definitely more expensive it was the MAGIC JUICE that returned my baby back to his calm happy self. 🙂 Definitely easier on his tummy and he went from being 3lbs at birth now at 5 1/2 months (3 months adjusted) my baby is a healthy 12lbs 9oz! He poops every other day and is just the happiest baby ever! I definitely recommend Alimentum to any parent out there suffering from the same kind of issues we were faced with after running dry on breastmilk. SHIPPING IS AWESOME since we have it on autoship every two weeks, PACKAGING ALWAYS COMES IN TACT, NO DELAYS! Very happy with our purchase and HAPPY BABY! Thank you ALIMENTUM for brining back our happy little nugget! <3** SHORTER CHAINS in this formula is the key to making it easier to digest for babies with smaller tummies. Milk based formulas have longer chains which makes it harder for some babies to digest as their tummies are still developing. It's not as thick as the other formulas, thus we feed my son about 3oz every 2 hours give or take. This will vary with each baby but I do also notice he gets hungry faster than when he was on my breastmilk and neosure. Its also not a high calorie diet like NEOSURE so make sure to discuss with your pediatrician if your LITTLE ONE requires a high calorie diet. <3 I hope this helps!

    Completely Different Child!

GODSEND! My son was born 8 weeks early. He was thriving on my expressed breastmilk until around his due date…that’s when everything went downhill. My son started refusing bottles (we went through about 4 different bottles/nipples), was extremely gassy, and we could hear his belly gurgling and rumbling. My last son has MSPI and I had to cut dairy so I figured maybe I’d have to with this little guy also. Well after 2-3 weeks of cutting dairy I didn’t see any results. I slowly started eliminating all other “gassy foods” and/or foods my baby may have been allergic to: dairy, caffeine, chocolate, eggs, tomato sauce (gave him diaper rash), etc. I was a sleep deprived, exhausted mama. By the time I fed him, held him up for 30 minutes (for his reflux), and pumped we had to start the cycle all over again. I was going back to work in a month and knew I had to do something! Our pediatrician first recommended Similac Pro Total Comfort but that made him extremely gassy, even gas drops could cure it! So we tried Alimentum. I read that most babies tolerate the ready to feed much better than the powder. We tried the powder but he took 45 min to finish the bottle then spit most of it up. We then tried the ready to feed and it was like a miracle! He didn’t refuse his bottle, no more stomach gurgling, his reflux improved, and he was a much happier baby. The only downfalls of this formula is that it is EXPENSIVE and not easy to run errands with. In terms of traveling we buy the 2 oz bottles and keep an empty bottle in our diaper bag. Thankfully we only had to buy about 20 bottles of the ready to feed before our insurance kicked in and covered it.I never thought I would formula feed my baby, especially since my first son breastfed for 13 months. I hated myself for awhile for putting my baby on formula, especially during the 2020 pandemic, but then saw how much happier my baby was and was so thankful for Alimentum!

    Life saver

My daughter has a milk and a corn allergy meaning she not only has to have hypoallergenic formula but also ready made formula as powdered formula is made with corn starch. This has been a game changer for us. It took us a month a half to figure out why her stomach was so upset and then to figure out which formula would work. Ready made hypoallergenic formula is very expensive which is sad considering it’s a necessity for my daughter but I can get it cheaper than most places here and save up some so that she has some for a bit and im not worried about running out every 4 days

    The solution to allergic babies

My baby was having a real tough time digesting the gentlease enfamil formula. Our doctor recommended this one and the enfamil nutramigen. I can only find similac in liquid form while enfamil is available in both liquid and powder. Both are more expensive than regular formula which goes to show how companies take advantage of people on need.My suggestion go with enfamil as you can find it in powder form. Easier to prepare at home and on the go. Similac only comes in liquid form which makes it difficult to travel with. If, however, you use similac first be prepared as your baby may reject enfamil. Similac is sweeter and has a better taste. Apparently

    Price gouging??

Great product! I’m a pumping mother who needs special formula to supplement. My son needs this formula, because of his slight protein allergy and I’ve had issues finding it for awhile like everyone else.My concern is the price. I’ve paid $54, then $60, now it’s $71?? Will it stay this price due to this horrible inflation situation or is this price gouging?? Feel like it’s either I can’t find what my baby needs or I’m priced out of the market. This is just awful…

    Solves our feeding problems

My daughter has done great with this formula. It solved her reflux problem and helped with her colic. The jug is a nice size because she can finish it before it expires. I love the foil cutter built into the cap because opening it is very easy. Only downside is that the formula smells pretty bad but we’ll keep buying it since it helps.

    Worked for my Baby

Generally the taste and smell of this milk is not pleasant but keep in mind if you make the switch while your baby is still a newborn, their tastebuds are not fully developed until 4-5 months of age. My son was on Similac Pro advance since he was born and breastfed with formula for three weeks, however, when he was three weeks he developed bad colic and gas, seborrheic dermatitis and then eventually eczema . I read that kids with cows milk allergies sometimes develop eczema so that was the main reason I decided to make the switch to this formula. As mentioned my son also had bad colic and he has been able to tolerate this formula much better. He has moved from drinking 3 1/2 oz to 4-5oz with this hypoallergenic formula. Even though it tasted bad to me he seemed to love it!! I am on the second week of using this formula and he is still drinking well but has a little colic and gas still but the pediatrician said that it takes a few weeks to adjust to formula changes so be patient as a parent and discuss everything with your pediatrician. I am happy about the quality of the product from this seller as it didn’t smell as bad as the formula I bought from the pharmacy.

A lifesaver for overnight feeds and meals on the go!!!

I was skeptical to buy these here because I didn’t see them available on Similac.com. On the website it’s only available in the powder and the 1-qt Ready to feed (RTF). So, I called the contact information on the website and the representative let me know that they do in fact make these and told me that if I see that the seller is Similac and was sold and shipped by Amazon and NOT a third party, then that is how I could always verify it. I was VERY HAPPY! Initially I got the powder sample from my pediatrician and purchased the 1-qt ready to feed from Publix. I preferred the 1-qt RTF over the powder (mainly due to the smell) but the 1- qt RTF has to be warmed up which made overnight feeds really tough. This 48 count Ready to Feed does not need to be refrigerated but just stored in a cool and dry place. So, you just sit them near baby’s bed, when baby wakes up to feed, shake the bottle, pop on a disposable nipple (Similac and Enfamil makes them and you buy them separately) and feed your baby! We used these last night and it went GREAT. The formula was fresh, properly packaged and all sealed tight.

    Preemie Baby

The media could not be loaded.

So back story is our preemie baby was exclusively breastfed until mommy went back to work and couldn’t find time to pump. He was sent home with Neosure to supplement and incorporate into into his meal until he ran out of breastmilk. As Neosure became the primary source for feeding we have found that he had terrible colic and cry all day and all night. It was awful! The neo told us to try Similac Total Comfort but we had a little less crying but still not better. They then told us to try Soy but after doing my own research. I put him in this because it lacks the allergens that come with both cows milk and soy. We immediately saw the change and our son finally stopped being constipated. I gave it 4 stars because it smells terrible and it makes your baby smell like the milk too. It took a minute to get used to it but it was worth it. We went from pooping once every 4 days to having a bowel movement everyday.

    Milk Allergy Formula of Choice

Myself, my son and now my grandson were all born with an allergy to milk. Soy is not an option for true milk allergy. Words cannot explain the gratitude I have once this became an available option with my son. After sleepless nights and a baby not gaining weight, this formula provided a happy tummy for our healthy growing littles. Highly recommend.

    The flavor seems ok but

Baby seems to like the flavor of this formula but I think it gives him constipation. Every formula works differently for every baby so I do keep that in mind. We used mostly Nutramigen for my eldest son but my youngest prefers store brand hypoallergenic for some reason. What gives my baby constipation may be perfect for your baby so I cannot speak for everyone. As I said I think the taste is ok, the price is a little high, and personally it doesn’t work well for us because it makes my son constipated. I would still keep it around for emergency as we all know about the recent shortage.

So much $$ but baby is happy

I cry a little bit every month when I have to order this product because the money does quickly add up. I did add it to my subscribe and safe so I do save up to 15% on it monthly. We were buying the powder but with the recall, we had to switch to the RTF. My daughter seems to actually do better on the RTF than the powder- I did not look but there is a small difference in the formula. The convenience of pouring it straight into a bottle and it is ready to go it huge. So much so that if we have another child and choose to formula feed again, I will just go with RTF and never mess with the powder again.

    Constipation

Love that it’s ready to feed. Easy to use. Don’t like the foil covering as it gets plastic shredded pieces on the edges when you pull it off which worries me that it could get into my baby’s bottles. Pretty pricey. Causes constipation for my little one but overall improves reflux symptoms. Okay, but not the best.

Helps my baby with reflux, but terrible bottle

This stuff really helps with my baby’s reflux. We changed her over to this when we discovered she had a milk allergy, and we could tell a difference in her behavior probably within a few days. I was also concerned that she wouldn’t like the taste, but she gobbles this up so fast, I know she loves it.The one thing though, is that this bottle is horrible. In particular, the bottleneck and cap. There is a thin piece of aluminum that seals the bottle, and you have to cut off using the cap. It never comes off cleanly, and there is always a small piece of the aluminum left over, which I don’t like. Then, whenever you pour it, the formula drips down the side of the bottle and it makes a mess. It isn’t a huge amount, but it’s very annoying. And over the past few months, I don’t even want to know how much we’ve wasted because of this.Overall though, the product itself is great, I just wish they would come up with a better bottle design.

I hate the smell. My baby hates it. But I had no choice but to switch with the shortage. It’s 74.00 a box. Normally I could get it for $30. It doesn’t get all spoiled and nasty look in g like other formula. Just 3 more months worth of ordering them my baby will be 1. This formula shortage has been horrid. It smells like poison. My son loves it and he keeps it down and it doesn’t to upset his stomach. For any mommies and daddies desperately looking for formula for babies with sensitive stomachs i highly recommend. I got the okay from his pediatrician before I started giving him the formula so please check with the pediatric first.

Perfect for babies who’s parents have Gerd

Both my husband and I suffer from Gerd/Acid Reflux, so it only makes sense that our daughter would have some digestive discomfort sometimes. These pre-made on the go bottles are useful when breastmilk either isn’t filling enough or just isn’t practical or available. Obviously for an older than 4 week old baby a powder version would be more for our money, but with such a young baby who eats very little formula, these 2oz bottles of ready-made formula are great! With no spit up and gentle formulas our baby pukes up about an ounce when she burps, it’s awful. With this formula we barely get any spit up at all! In the middle of the night, these are a lifesaver for a tired parent!

Best formula for fussy babies! Smells terrible but you will have a happy baby.

All my kids drank this formula. Life saver for gassy, fussy babies. Great formula, although it smells awful. I have kept an eye on the price because of the formula shortage. The price gouging is disgusting. It was $43 for 6 bottles just a few weeks ago and has crept up. It was $60 for 6 bottles last week! Now it’s at $70 for 6. I’m all for capitalism.. but not gouging young (or older) moms in need. AMAZON, DO SOMETHING!!!!!

So much better than the powder

We switched to Alimentum because the pediatrician thought our daughter’s reflux may be due to a lactose sensitivity. The powder smelled horrible, but we did see an improvement. Then the recall happened… so we switched to the liquid. This was the best decision we ever made! Our daughter’s reflux is almost non-existent and the liquid smells SO much better than the powder. The liquid also doesn’t leave any residue on the bottles like the powder did. I highly recommend!

    Not much options

Overall quite satisfied but there really aren’t many options out there to substitute. The liquid formula can feel a bit chalky or powdery and is not as smoothly fluid as expected. The powder version got recalled which flags me how tight are the regulations in this industry, so I’m still quite skeptical of associated products.

ABSOLUTE LIFE SAVER – Tummy troubles gone in less than a day.

This was by far the best formula I found and apparently the best kept secret around. I could not breastfeed, and my child would not drink powered formula. All other ready mades gave him gas or crying fits. Alimentum cured his tummy trouble with the first bottle and was an absolute life saver. I found it when he was about 2 months old and all issues completely stopped since. He transitioned at 12/13 months to whole milk very easily. I now have a very healthy and actually quite large 18 month old. A year on Alimentum seemed to do nothing but good things for him. The only down side is the cost (why I’ve rated it 4 stars versus 5 (or 10)) and difficulty to find. As far as I could find it is only available at Babies R Us, Target, Walmart and Amazon in my area. It is often sold out because it is not heavily stocked. BRUS and Target have it at about $12 a bottle, Walmart and Amazon are a lot less. If you can stand up to $12 a day for formula then get this stuff!!!!

The item came very fast which was amazing because my nephew was running low! Unfortunately he did switch formulas but definitely recommend if you use this kind!

    Only formula my Baby tolerate

My baby was very colicky, we try a few brands until our pediatrician recommended this one. She is a new baby. Very happy. The downside is that they only sell the ready to feed formula. Which I feel it makes it really inconvenient for going out, trying to keep it refrigerate, ugh… so we got these ones for on the go… but The formula alone is already expensive, these little bottles are very overpriced. And trying to get nipples is just unbelievable, nipples cost way more… so we just bring our bottles. And feed baby 2 oz at a time. We treat them like liquid gold. No waste please. I wouldn’t mind the price for the convenience if it at least came with the nipples.

    Pricey but worth it

This formula is not cheap but it was the only thing that helped my 2mo old with her stomach and reflux issues.

Better than most, but there are better products are out there

If you’re reading reviews of Similac Alimentum, more than likely you’re struggling with a feeding problem with your child. We, too, struggled with our son. We spent months trying to figure out what would work with him, and to put it simply, it went something like this: breastfeeding (not enough supply and caused horrible reflux), then 1/2 breastfeeding with 1/2 Baby’s Only (things improved somewhat), then 100% formula.First we landed on Similac Alimentum, as recommended to us by our pediatrician for our son’s reflux (in combination with his Prevacid). She also liked that the Alimentum was ready to feed. We used the Alimentum for a while, and things seemed better, but still we were having reflux and crankiness and other problems. And the smell of the product just is pretty terrible, especially when it comes out in the form of a baby burp.Based upon all of the above, I had a theory that maybe breastmilk was the initial culprit back when we were trying 50% breastmilk and 50% Baby’s Only, so one day, I told my wife that I wanted to switch back to Baby’s Only and voila! He was like a new baby within a couple of days (see my review for Baby’s Only for more detail on the product). So, there are other products out there like Similac Alimentum that are comparable in price and that can work for reflux issues–at least, this was the case for us. Because feeding our infant was such a stressful months-long process for us, please of course feel free to ask any questions by commenting here and I’d be happy to help out if I can. Bottom line: I don’t think you can go wrong with the Alimentum, but I’d also give the Baby’s Only a shot to compare how your child responds to the two.

    Works for my eczema baby

First, I want to thank Amazon for consistently having this in stock. As we all know formula, especially for our sensitive babies, is hard to find. I would like Similac to release the powder version again so we can all save money but I’m grateful this works for my eczema prone baby. Arrives on time and in a box.

This is the only formula we could use and having delivery of it is a Godsend

Our baby was lactose intolerant. We ended up using this formula because it was about all we could do early on and it was exactly what he needed. More importantly, having access to direct shipping with regular availability saved a lot of hassle. We’d have to search store after store to find this stuff in stock (it always went first) and we’d have to stockpile it to make sure we had enough. With the subscription service pretty much guaranteeing availability, it took a lot of stress off of us. The bottles haven’t showed up damaged and it saved money vs buying at the store. It’s a huge convenience to any parent in need of a little bit of stress relief (and a new baby will definitely make you appreciate that small win, with your exhausted state of living)

    Perfect for Milk Protein Allergy

Our son was diagnosed as having a milk protein allergy at his one month appointment. When he was about 2 or 3 weeks old he started having frequent bowel movements and they just seemed too watery to me, though everyone kept saying they were “okay”. He would poop sometimes 12 times in a day and it just didn’t feel right. Then around 4 weeks we noticed some mucus and a tiny bit of blood in his stool. At first I thought it was irritation from the frequent bowel movements, but our pediatrician said she was sure it was a milk protein allergy.I was disappointed that I had to stop giving him breast milk. We tried changing my diet, but he continued to have blood tinged diarrhea. He was fussy, he was crying, arching his back and not napping as he should. It was hard to even get him to go to sleep. I would lay on his bassinet sobbing because I felt like nothing could make him feel better and we didn’t have this issue with our first. It was possible, the doctor said, that he was allergic to something more than milk protein or that it wasn’t milk protein at all and she said it could be months of trial and error to figure it out. I couldn’t watch him be that uncomfortable so we switched to Alimentum. Within 3 days of switching from breast milk to Alimentum his stools improved 1000%. He started pooping once a day and it was a normal consistency. No more blood either. And even better, no more gas, no more crying for hours at a time and he’s a MUCH happier baby!

    Baby’s go to formula

Love that I can get this formula shipped to my door without limits being attached. Walmart advertises that they have it in stock at my local store, but it is never on the shelf when I get there. Amazon sells at a cheaper price as well.

    Good formula just taste bad

Very good formula. It was the only one my newborn was able to Not spit up after trying many others prior. Dr recommended trying this and major spit up issues resolved til his digestive system got more mature. But I tried a little and it does taste bad and smell eh. And of course more expensive than other brands/types. Wish it was more affordable.

Great for GI probs, terrible container

This formula helped my faughter GI issues tremendously. It differs from the same exact brand in the powder form(corn as thicknerin powdered version) she can only take the liquid ready to feed. Which has gotten expensive over 8 months. Did not qualify for wic so paying out of pocket. The worst thing about the similac alimentum ready to feed is the container itself.Hate it! Despise puncturing wi th the lid, twisting to cut the foil seal, which never fully cuts it, then youre having to try to rip it off holding a crying baby or a baby thats now grabbing at everything 😓Even worse that it has to be refrigerated and heated to room temp. The absolute worst part though is that the container leaks all around the lid when u shake it up(it has to be shaken really good). No matter how tight the lid is on milk still manage to get above the foil thats left on edges. Then when u pour into a bottle the milk runs all down the side of the container 🙄 its messy to say the least, but it feeds my baby and has for 8 months now so i deal with it.Similac, FIX YO CONTAINERS 😂like even liquid coffee creamer containers are 100x better.Take note from Nutrimigen rtf formula container please. Not sure of flavor, baby is too little to know if its good or gross 🤷‍♀️

PLEASE READ: This liquid is different than the powder form!

My son was having so many problems with food, we were going to a few different doctors and unfortunately had to keep switching his formula (not by choice, trust me!) I had to stop the breast milk even because he just was not tolerating the milk protein or really much of anything. I have a super bad stomach and I was so worried I had passed it on to my son even at one month of age. Our pediatrician gave us a container of the similac alimentum powder form and it did make a small difference however my son was still crying like he was in pain after each bottle. I read a lot of reviews online and noticed a few people mentioning that their child could tolerate the liquid form over the powder form. My doc knew nothing of this and i was so discouraged but figured I would give it a try. Not joking, the first bottle of the liquid form he ate, no crying after. I cried because I was so happy to not have my son in pain after eating for the first time. At one point I was up north and ran out of the liquid so I HAD to give him the powder and sure enough, crying and pain immediately after. My son is now almost 6 months old and has not had one single problem and is the happiest baby on the planet all day long now. PLEASE spend the ridiculous amount of money for this formula because I KNOW first hand how miserable life can be when your baby is in pain and you don’t know how to stop it. The powder form does have a corn ingredient in it that the liquid form does not have, please give it a try so you and your child will be pain free. If it works as it did for me, you really should let others know because it is such a helpless feeling to have to go through. Good luck!!

A lifesaver for a baby with severe allergies

As someone who breastfed my first child for two years, never went near formula, and was militant about “breast is best,” I never imagined I would be grateful for formula. And then I gave birth to my second child.I exclusively breastfed my daughter until 6 months old. Around that time, she developed severe food allergies, including milk protein, soy, bananas, eggs. In order to avoid triggering her allergies and causing her terrible diarrhea, my diet became very limited, which put my own health at risk as someone who is anemic and was breastfeeding. Having breastfed my son for 2 years, I was willing to tough it out, except that my daughter kept on developing more allergies. It got to the point at which no matter how carefully I ate, she was having diarrhea constantly. My daughter’s gastroenterologist recommended Alimentum to me as a way to ensure she was nourished with truly allergen-free milk. None of the other brands and types on the market are suitable for babies with severe allergies. I am still breastfeeding, but during the day, I pump and feed her my milk in a half-breastmilk/half-Alimentum mix. That ensures my breastmilk is diluted enough that she does not get a full dose of anything I have inadvertently eaten. Alimentum saved my breastfeeding relationship with my baby and eliminated her diarrhea. She started putting on weight again and I am so grateful. It feels strange writing a review for formula as a formerly militant breastfeeding mom, but life humbles us sometimes. Good luck.**Please let me know this review is useful to you by clicking “Yes” below.

Only formula that doesn’t give my baby a rash

We’ve had to switch up my baby’s formula multiple times due to cow’s milk allergy and rashes. We went from Similac Sensitive to Nutramigen Hypoallergenic to Alimentum. We were constantly fighting a facial rash on my son and it seemed to only clear up when he was taking Alimentum. Unfortunately this formula is very expensive so that is why I did not give it 5 stars.

BEST alternative formula! Our baby is a happy kid because of this!

We searched everywhere for a good non dairy alternative for our infant. When he came home from the NICU I started him on Enfamil Enspire hoping that would be good since it mimics breastmilk, it was not a bad product but my son had bad gas. We tried 6 different formulas (All had nonfat milk as the first ingredient..) and finally switched him to non dairy and the change was like a 180. Our baby was not crying all day/night from gas pain, he was happy and smiling and he loves his milk! I use this to supplement, he still gets breast milk but I just can’t make enough and this has been our saving grace! The only downside to this particular brand is how expensive it is.. we go through a bottle almost a day and its $10 a bottle, thats almost $70 a week in just formula. Please Similac lower the price a bit, not everyone can afford this and for some families this is the only formula they can feed their baby!*Also why is EVERY brand of formula have nonfat milk, when it is advised NOT to give your baby cows milk until they are at least a year old.. Something I will never understand.
