If I have this product on my hair can I still apply home permanent hair dye on top of it?
We suggest you shampoo your hair first and wait 24 hours to color your hair
How long does the color last on the hair before I need to reapply?
Our Magic Root Cover Up conceals grays in seconds for flawless roots. Perfect for in between color or salon visits and lasts until your next shampoo.
Do I use it after styling or before I use the curling iron and hairspray?
For the L’Oreal Root Cover Up Spray, you would apply it after you use a curling iron but before hairspray.

Quick and effective temp dye job
We ordered 2 bottles of this for Halloween when I couldn’t find black hair spray. My daughter here in the picture has blonde hair. Only one bottle was needed. It was quick and very easy and less messy. The other bottle was a dud. Didn’t spray out, but I guess that happens with any product.

Been using this product for many years now. Have tried others that were more expensive, but there was nothing about them that I saw that were any different. This does the trick!

Good coverage
This covers my roots well. My problem is that it leaves a “tacky/sticky” feel where I’ve applied it. Also, if I absentmindedly scratch my scalp, the color transfers to my nails and is difficult to wash off.

Great product, sometimes hard to get out of hair
I’ve used this product for a couple of years now and I do really like it! I continue to buy it because I haven’t found anything as good, but it has one main flaw. I have dark brown hair and get some grays that are obvious against my hair. This does a great job hiding the grays in between color appointments. I do think washing it out of my hair is more difficult than it should be. I literally scrape my part line with my nails to get all the residue out each wash. It’s not ideal- but this does cover my grays very well!

Perfect match for my hair
This stuff is magic. I love it when I am in between salon days and don’t want to have my grays showing. It’s a really nice match with my hair color. Fingers do turn dark if I touch my hair after but I touch my head a lot (weird habit). It’s easy to apply and lasts until you wash your hair.

Perfect
I am fully gray but color every 3 weeks because my hair grows so fast. Sometimes I’m just too tired to color mine so I use this and it’s perfect. I’m a level 4 all over and this matches great.

Works well
This is very easy to use, and it covered the roots nicely! Blended very well!! I would recommend it. My hair dresser told me what color she thought would blend with my color and she got the color perfectly. Now, I can cover the little bit that has grown out in-between my appointments and it looks so natural. I really like it!!

Must have if you color you hair
Great way to extend the time between coloring! Can be messy if you spray wrong direction. It will rub off on your pillow, and you do need to scrub a bit to get it out of your hair. It will last for days though if needed. Color match is perfect for me. It does make where you spray it feel ‘waxy’.

Love this stuff!
I love this stuff so much!I purchased the perfect matching color this time around.I like it for when I’m due for a root touch up, and it also makes my hair look more dense around my hairline without looking unnatural.I just very lightly spray it to not overdo it, otherwise it’ll look crazy. Also I wouldn’t recommend using it in the rain, I think it would be a complete mess

best colored dried shampoo I’ve found
This is the best colored dried shampoo I’ve found! I use this to cover my stubborn grey hair that comes in between my hair salon appointments. It does a great job of covering new hair growth and does not make my hair feel dry or dirty like some hair products. The color tends to run darker than on the label so keep that in mind when ordering.

Great for in-between root touchups
I have dark hair, so my roots become super obvious as my hair grows out. Since I don’t want to color my hair every 2 weeks, I need something to fill in between dye jobs. I’ve tried a few of these root touchups, including the powder/brush kind, and this is by far the best. When I was using the powder touchup, I couldn’t seem to really cover the gray. This takes just a second to apply and covers completely. I have medium reddish-brown hair (I use 6RB color), so I actually use two of these for touchups. The red is a little too red and the brown is a little too brown, so I use the light brown first and then a little red and I find it blends perfectly. One note though, be sure to apply to the back of your head as well. I was focused on the front and top and caught a photo of myself from behind where I could see the gray roots. Not making that mistake again!

Thank GOODNESS!!
Going thru midlife crisis, hair strands not even grey it’s white.. so hard to rinse it with semi color cuz it doesn’t even take to the hair.. I don’t want to dye it so I tried this spray for quick fixes. Forgot to take before pics but strands were noticeably white before the spray. It works great!! Only issue is I wish it wasn’t a hard press to spray.. if it was a lighter press like oil sheen it would be perfect.Because it’s so hard to press for use, it sprays more powerful so u use more & it’s not that much product to begin wit.Three sprays & I’m back young again! lol

Red goes with my medium auburn hair color and gets the job done!
I have used the red root cover up for a few years now and it does the job. I am not ready to go grey or white yet. I use Clairol Natural Instincts Medium Auburn demi-permanent hair color. Over the years it has been harder and harder to color those grey and white hairs along my hairline, temples and part. I have very long hair, so only wash it once a week. After drying, I hold a tissue over my face, shake up the can and spray along the part and hairline. I keep it pretty close and use hair clips to hold back some of my hair to get the temples too.It lasts a week for me, then I wash it out. I have not noticed it bleeding on to fabrics unless I wear a tight hat. It may not be the product for you if you wash your hair a lot. If your hair is very bright red the color may not match. It seems to be a dark auburn, not really red. It isn’t a perfect match, but it covers up the grey and white hairs very well. When I first tried it out, I bought one can at the drug store. That might be a good idea to see if it is a good match for you. Now that I use it regularly, I like the fact that it is a two pack, so I can stock up and it lasts for many months. It’s an extra expense, but I like what I see when I look in the mirror!

Get this is you are tired of gray roots and don’t like using the mascara root coverups
I used to use the mascara type gray coverup. It made my hair hard and never lasted long. This is super easy to use. Spray and go. The color goes perfect with different shades of reds or auburns, even the darker or lighter tones. Blends in great. 123 and you’re done until your next wash. Don’t touch it until it fully dries b/c it will come off on your hands or on a pillow case if you lay down soon after.

Great Life Hack
First my disclosure, I received this product from L’Oréal Paris, an opportunity given to me through BzzAgent which I am very thankful for. This is my honest and unbiased review of L’Oréal Paris Root Cover Up in Dark Brown. My results are my own and may be different depending on the person. As a busy, mom, woman, college student, daughter, human there is either never enough time or money to get things done. When it comes to the topic of hair coloring both time and money apply. As I get older I notice that my once Raven colored hair now has sprinkles of “natural glitter” around my temples. I have my very own “silver lining”. Okay, to be honest I am lucky enough where my white, they skipped grey those darn overachieving follicles, are at my temples and bang area mostly. Those that make it to the back of my head are covered with a layer of color that is not white, grey, or silver. My natural center part is still full of color. So I can get away with not coloring my hair for a bit longer then let’s say my older sister. This product was perfect for me.Having this product means that shelling out $20 for two boxes of hair dye can wait a bit longer and that $20 can go towards something else, like my daughter’s 31-day bus pass that she uses to get to school. Not so much now since it is summer but you get the idea. As a parent we make sacrifices on our own wants so our children can have what they need, sometimes their wants also. This is why the new L’Oréal Paris Root Cover Up is so fantastic. It is wallet friendly, quick, and a mom’s new tool in her beauty arsenal. This little blue canister of magic contain 2.0 oz (57g) of fast drying, root covering, no more grey/white awesomeness. Are you sensing that I love this product, because that is the vibe I want to give off. I don’t want to give off the idea that this is some sort of permanent hair coloring in a can. No, this is temporary and will wash out after a few shampoos. You are still going to need to color your hair eventually but it will be when you have both the time and money to do it. This is a quick fix, a much needed life hack that makes it life a little bit easier for you. This product come in 6 colors; black, dark brown, light to medium brown, red, dark blonde, and light to medium blonde. I recently watched a woman review the product in red and she mentioned that not a lot of companies make this type of product in red. That is really cool and exciting if you have red hair. L’Oréal claims that this product is “3 seconds to flawless roots”. Now I did not time myself but I know that it took way longer than 3 seconds for me to cover my roots. This may be due to my inexperience with the product and I kind of scared to actually press the button. It’s a new product that I have never use and I was learning how to maneuver it, my daughter thought I was hilarious while in the act of “root covering”.I shook the product, held it from the target a good 4-6 inches and slowly depressed the button. A cold burst of colored product shot out. I repeated the process 2 more times in the same area, put the product down and inspected the area only to find matte dark brown color along with my natural and colored hair. I was happy, very happy. Okay, so the fact that it is matte is not so great, I would have loved it if the product were a shiny like hair is normally, but since it is at the roots I don’t think it really matters to me. There were no drips for me but when I searched for reviews on this product I read and saw that some women experience product dripping while some did not. I think it has to do with how you spray the product. If you purchase this product try quick short bursts, you can always add more, you can’t take off less.I also found that this product dries quickly which is very nice. I do not mean immediate though, so if you touch the area right after you spray it your fingers will come away with color. More like 30 seconds, and the color will not rub of. Also, I was able to brush through my hair after I applied this product. If any of you have ever applied that can of hair color that is sold during Halloween you know that those products are more like colored hairspray. You cannot get your fingers through your hair let alone a brush. This product is not like that at all. I was able to brush through it and my hair fell naturally into place. I had to check if there were any more visible white hairs that needed to be covered. There were none.Overall, this product is a good investment. Like I stated previously it is a much needed life hack that needs to find its place in the lives of busy women, but I think anyone male or female could use this. There has to be some men out there who want to cover some grey/white hair put do not want to actually dye their hair. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a temporary reprieve from eyeing their “glittering” hair in the mirror but does not have the time or the funds for that project. Plus, you do not have to use the entire canister of product to cover your roots. I may go out tonight to purchase a canister for my sister to make her life a bit less hectic as well. It will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Beware of Transfer!
The product does what it claims, but as well as covering your roots, it covers everything else it comes into contact with too. If you run your hands through your hair at any point throughout the day, expect your hands to be stained. If you go to bed before washing your hair, expect your pillows to be stained. If the wind happens to blow your hair in your face, expect your forehead to be stained. You get the picture… If you’re in dire need of a quick fix for your hair, the product does work, but it’s really too much hassle in my opinion.

Magic elixir
Love how easy this is to apply, how it lasts through a quick cold wet down, and the color and thickening texture. Between color roots are easy to fix, with a tiny learning curve. Wear dark colors to avoid drips. Shake well and apply to roots avoiding scalp as much as possible. Distribute with a hair brush if it’s too concentrated in a spot.

Covers gray
This is my go to product to cover my grays if I have no time.It will wash out of it gets wet. If it didn’t, it would be permanent color.Using a shade darker will look more natural, because your hair lightens a it grows out.Tip:Place something over the part in your hair. I use the thin tip of a comb. If I’m in a hurry I use my finger. That way you can see your scalp and it doesn’t look like you dumped paint on your head.

Covers great
This definitely does the job of covering either thinning hair spots on your head or gray spots. It does state to cover your shoulders before you use the product. (I used an old towel). Since I am used to using powder to cover these areas, it’s going to take me a little practice to get the sprayer just right.

Magic!
This stuff is like magic for all your weirdly-positioned patchy gray hairs. It really covers them up and doesn’t look crazy. The own downfall is if you get a little itchy itch on your scalp and give in to do a little scratching… your nails and fingers end up covered in black crusty yuck.Ehhh the price we pay to hold onto our youth, I guess

Great for grays!
I have a small gray streak at the front of my hairline and also a thin spot- this spray covers up both quickly in a pinch. I don’t want to dye my hair so on nights that I go out I’ll just spray this on and I’m done. The only reason it’s missing a star is sometimes it transfers onto things so you have to make sure you wash your hair before bed but that’s to be expected from a spray. I always keep it on hand!

Excellent value
As a man in my mid 60s, a little touch up on the bald spot in the back and a little touch up in the front where it’s thinning seems to help quite a bit. It is pretty opaque for your bald spot if you have enough hair to cover over afterwards. You need to missed the front part of your head with the can if you do not have enough hair to really cover. Otherwise it will look like a paint job. It will rub off on your pillowcases and it is hard to get out in the laundry. A small price to pay for vanity.

A necessity for my bald spots
I don’t use the spray for gray hair. I actually use to spray my scalp to make my hair look filler and fill in some of my bald spots when I wear a ponytail. I have been doing this for several years now and this is the only brand that actually works well. I found it a lot easier just to go on Amazon and ordered it. Amazon is the same cost that I find out the store. It’s just a lot easier to have it shipped to your house then I have to go to several stores, hoping that they have it.

What’s gray becomes brown
I procrastinate the hassle of coloring my hair and thank goodness for this. It can be a little challenging at first to get the hang of spraying your hair. At first I was timid and would mist it and the mist would make spots on my hands and even my face. Best to just spray close to the hair as the color blends well for me even when my hair is a little red. Looks very natural and i never worry about people staring. The spray gives me a chance to not be uncomfortable about the gray and get on with work. It’s a huge gift and well worth the price. A can lasts for me for a few months and maybe more depending on how much gray you have.

More than just a root cover up
I had to put this on a subscription because it has become a staple. Not just to cover my roots, but to disguise my thinning hairline. My only critique is that you have to be careful not to overspray onto your forehead and you should use a bit of hairspray to set it so it doesn’t run if you sweat.

Staple next to my hairspray now
With 4-6 quick, short sprays, I’m ready for the day. I was not expecting this spray to blend in as well as it does. It covers the roots so I can go to work with confidence. It is now a staple next to my hairspray in the bathroom. For the price, it is remarkable. I don’t use a towel on my shoulders because I’m only spraying the one section of roots with the part.

Covers Gray Roots Effectively
This product does effectively cover gray hairs. Since it is a spray, it is sometimes a little sloppy to use. It may drip a bit as one is spraying. Also, because it is a spray, it is at times difficult to cover precisely. Other than that, it does mask gray hairs, which is what it is supposed to do!
