Portable, easy to use but I doubt its suction power

I bought it before my weekend trip away from the baby. It does its job but I had to squeeze my boobs and reposition several times to make it work. It works to some degrees but not fully working like those full functioning breast pumps. It’s definitely very portable and super easy to use. Very easy to clean as well. I recommend to those who are going on a short trip away from their babies. Not really a reliable breast pump if you’re producing a lot of breast milk or if you’re looking for efficient, powerful breast pump.

    My favorite product

I absolutely LOVE this pump. I pop it on my opposite breast my baby is feeding on, and it does an excellent job collecting my milk. I use it multiple times a day so it’s perfect that it’s one piece. Very easy to clean, super portable, and super effective. 5/5 recommend!

My postpartum must have. Get the suction base with lid version!

I would recommend getting the one with a suction base. I’ve had several spills at 3 am… even with the lid.Use coconut oil on your nips before attaching it. I used it without oil a few time and F it hurt, it felt like my areola skin was being stretched beyond its limits (my areola was very wide so it my be different for someone with a narrower one). This device helped a lot with engorgement and slowly helped reduce my milk to an adequate amount since it did not stimulate for more milk production like a pump would. If you often feel engorged and you make more milk than baby needs you’ll be surprised how much this thing can collect.

    Prefer over Electric Pump

The suction is very strong, but not uncomfortable. I am able to collect a great amount of milk with this product. It is more natural feeling than other pumps. Super easy to clean and use.

    Great for catching let down

Works really well to catch let down on breast that baby is not actively nursing. I’ve found that it can be folded back and placed on breast to simply catch milk, or you can slightly squeeze it when placing on breast to create a small amount of suction which will pull the milk a little bit faster.Only con is if your baby is nursing it is pretty easy for them to kick it off.

    Love!

I use this to collect colostrum and it definitely makes it easier to catch and then I use a syringe to get it all out

    Great!

I have almost bought a second one because it works so nicely. I love having hands free let down and unlike a pump it does not make my nipple sore afterwards. Easy to clean, easy to use, I wish I had bought it or put it on my register from day one!

Don’t know how I lived without

If you nurse or ep you should definitely get one. I use it while nursing my baby on one side and put it on the other. I also will just throw it on when I feel a letdown coming. I truly think it has made my supply increase. Also saw they are good for clogged ducts

The lid is worth it. Wish I would have bought sooner

Get the option that includes the lid. You won’t regret it. Sincerely, crying over spilled milkI love this because I use it to catch leaks on the other breast that baby isn’t on. Over the course of the day (following cdc guidelines for safe storage), I’m able to collect a full serving or more that would’ve been wasted by soaking into my bra with leaks.I would not use this in lieu of an electric pump though, too much work.

    Useful, but has some drawbacks

This pump is really great for collecting letdown on the opposite side during night feedings! However it has two major flaws. One, it is possibly the most tippable shape in existance. Do NOT set it on a flat surface unless you want milk everywhere, set it inside a cup or mug. Two, it is very difficult to get down inside it to clean. Boiling water works ok, but sometimes it does need to be scrubbed and it isn’t easy.

    Works amazingly

I had purchased this, as it works great for when you nurse to help the other side leak in to while nursing the otherside. Would recommend. I had got these for when I had my 3.child and when I had my fourth baby I had to get more they work great. And also great for travel

Why didn’t I do this before

I just had my second child. My friend kept insisting I try the hakaa even though I had no idea how it was supposed to work, etc. well she taught me and I love it so much. It has prevented me from getting engorged and I can just wash this one piece instead of pumping and having to wash everything, also worrying about emptying the breasts before feeding the baby again. I love this thing

Great for holding milk while feeding on other side

This was amazing to use when i was breastfeeding but only problem i didnt like is that the rubber just is a stickler for hair and being a pet friendly home and myself always having hair shed it sucked having to always clean even if i didnt use it.

    Best Haakaa Out There

This is my second one. It is SO much better than the Medela brand one that came in a kit with my pump. The suction is so much better and the silicone is not as stiff so it stays on my boob. I don’t have to worry about it falling off like I do with the Medela one.

    So helpful!

I used to hold a bottle up to catch my breastmilk from my unused boob when the baby was nursing and it was so cumbersome. It was tricky and frustrating. I spilt the milk on me or my clothes and most of the time I didn’t even want to bother with it…. that was until I somehow learned about this product! I figured I’d give it a try and boy am I glad that I did! So easy to use! I put it on and forget it. It is hands-free. It collects the milk that would hurt been wasted on nursing pads. I’ve already used it several times and grateful that I stumbled across this.

    This is a GAME CHANGER!!!!

I was skeptical. This thing is unbelievable… I recently had my fifth baby, and have used multiple pumps over the years… I wish I would’ve known about this sooner. It literally is the easiest thing ever… You place it where you want it, squeeze, and let it do the rest of the work… It doesn’t easily break its seal at all… even when baby kicked while nursing on the other side. It is literally just unbelievable. Buy it.

Love it – but tips easily, so keep it in a mug!

This has been great to catch my letdown while nursing. However, I removed a star because:until I read the hack/suggestion to store it in a mug when it has milk in it (a brilliant idea from a reviewer of the stopper), I was very disappointed and frustrated, and even wrote a 1 star review originally. Within the first week+ of use, I can prob count on more than one hand the number of times I didnt. In the moments I’ve spilled, because I was occupied with baby, I had to have my husband clean up the sticky mess every time so we don’t attract ants.In my original review, I was going to suggest folks splurge for the more expensive version that comes with a lid, or to purchase the stopper for it, but I neither of those are necessary because I have been keeping it in a mug so it stays upright.Note – if you have a squirmy baby, watch out! It can also fall off easily if baby kicks it in a fit of movement (the suction breaks).

    Must have

This is such an amazing product! I have collected numerous ounces that would have gone wasted if not for this product. So easy to attach to one breast while breastfeeding or pumping. It is so helpful for night time feedings when my little seems to only eat off one breast. I would recommend this to any mom!

    Must have got breastfeeding moms!

This is great for when you first start nursing. It’s a great way to collect spare milk, deal with clogs, and throwing your diaper bag as a pump to have on the go!

    Perfect for breastfeeding mom

I only wish I would have had this product for both my babies. I purchased this for baby number 2 and used it often while baby was on one side. It easy to carry and easy to clean. I actually used this as a manual hand pump many times. It travels easier and worked great. I purchased this a 2nd time as a baby shower gift

    New mom must have

If you are a new mama and wanting to take the breast feeding journey , this product is for you! It’s easy to clean and captures so much milk. When you’re feeding on one breast, attach it to the other to catch all the milk that is released with the letdown. No more wasted milk! It’s easy to use, manual, so no wires, batteries, take it anywhere

    Essential for breastfeeding

This product is great if you are breastfeeding or pumping from one side at a time. You get way more than you might expect from the letdown, and it’s not that uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s hard to suction but you just have to make sure it’s dry.

A MUST HAVE FOR BREASTFEEDING MOMS

First time trying it and I love it! It’s amazing how much milk it collects. The first day I got about 2oz off of one boob while baby fed from the other and that was just with leaving the suction on my skin

  34. Anna B

Perfect to catch let down when nursing!

I purchased the Haakaa as a way to catch my let down because I was leaking EVERYWHERE! I was recommended this from my lactation consultant and it has been a game changer. I originally got the one Haakaa with the ladybug combo to try it out since my other breast would drench my baby and myself while nursing. But now I purchased a second Haakaa because I noticed that my now more alert little one (~1 mth) loves to wake up to me pumping with my Spectra 2 (great electrical pump). I recommend purchasing two Haakaa’s for both let down and if your pump eventually bothers your baby. Note: The ladybug needs to be placed in a bra to work and it’s a little uncomfortable for me. But will probably be more useful once I am out the house. How I use the product:- Nursing: I use it on my bare breast without a bra when nursing. When nursing it stays on rather well except sometimes my baby likes to kick it off but it depends on your nursing position.- Pumping: I usually only pump one breast at a time with my electrical pump, so I use the one Haakaa to catch the let down from the other breast before I get to it. Then I pour whatever let down I get into the pump bottles directly.*I haven’t used it as a true manual pump often but it works as advertised if you follow the attachment process. For my purpose, I typically just gently squeeze the bottom while sitting and suction it on.Pros:- Quiet- Collects let down- Can position out of the way so my little one isn’t soaked in milk from the non nursing side- Can be used as a pump- Cheaper than electricalCons:- A little painful due to high suction- Can fall off easily if moving (i.e. use when sitting down or secure/hold it in place when walking)- Probably need to buy a set if replacing electrical pump or collecting let down- Can tip over if not careful- Can fall off if filled too muchTips:- When removing the Haakaa from my breast the bottom lip usually drips a little bit of milk onto me. I usually prepare and hold a washcloth under before removing it off my breast.- My cactus bottle brush set I got on Amazon doesn’t fit through the neck which is not this products fault. Although, it can be a consideration for those who wish to clean the Haakaa with a similar product.Overall: I love using this product and it’s made my breastfeeding/pumping journey easier and more enjoyable. I recommend this for any first time mom!

    Milk collection

This Haaka is a lifesaver. It collects milk as you feed on the other side. It is able to collect up to 6 ounces of milk at a time. It collects the milk that you would have lost be leaking (if you are a leaker.) It is very easy to clean; just some hot water and soap. 10/10

    Breastfeeding MUST-HAVE

if you’re breastfeeding, GET THE HAAKAA. even better, get two. I suggest getting the one with a lid though—the amount of times I’ve accidentally knocked this over and spilled breastmilk everywhere is not funny

This has helped so much with on the go! I can have my baby latch on one and use this on the other. Slow and steady. Easy to clean, fits well in diaper bag.Just gotta watch not to spill that liquid gold!I have medium sized breast but I think this would work for small or larger.

I wish I had it sooner

I was meaning to buy this product earlier stage of postpartum and even now I think it works great. It would’ve worked even better in the beginning, so I definitely recommend for the beginning stages of postpartum and breast-feeding.

Saved me from lots of tears.

I love it so so so so so so much. I use mine for clogged ducts and it works miracles!! When you’re in the shower just fill it up with warm/hot water and add in a hand fullish (2 TBSP) of Epsom salt. Then fold the top part down and put it over your nippy and then slowly lift up on the edges and the suction will pull out any clogs or trapped milk. It hurts but there’s so much relief afterwards. You can also use it the way I described minus the water and salt to catch milk while you are pumping or BF on the opposite breast. Hope this helps and I hope you buy one! They are amazing.

    Easy to handle

I started using it right away. I didn’t buy it to pump with it but used it as a collection whenever I am feeding one side or pumping one side. Easy to clean and it actually sticks to your nipples easily.

    Absolutely amazing

I love this product. I used it with my first child and it was the most helpful pump I’ve ever gotten. I ended up buying another for my second child. It has helped me not get engorged and it collects everything when you start to leak. It’s easy to put on and use. My favorite is when baby is eating on one side and the other starts to leak just attach the haakaa and it’ll collect everything that might get in your shirt. Love this product

    Good size!

This haaka is not huge or tiny which I like. It is a good enough size to where I can put it in my diaper bag if I need to but also big enough to capture milk if there are lots of leftovers. It was gentle on my skin and strong enough to obtain the leftover milk. I would reccomend this to any breastfeeding mother!

A MUST have for every mom!!! A handy little tool to give as a gift for a friend or to yourself.

Baby #3. I used electric and manual pumps for both other kids. I’ve tried (and still have) Medela, Nuk, and Willow electric pumps with traditional and hands free attachments. I’ve also used Lansinoh and Medela manual pumps. All do what they claim to do but none are ideal for a working mom (which I am). With my last baby, in particular, I was horribly bothered by how loud ALL of the pumps are (even the manual pumps) because when I’m pumping, it’s because I’m working (i.e., not with baby); not only is the incredibly loud sound of the pump distracting for me, but it makes others uncomfortable and I refuse to pump in a bathroom; it just seems disempowering to do so. With baby #2, I went to a manual pump so I would have more flexibility and discretion and while I loved these attributes of the manual pump, I found that even they make noise and my hand would get sore having to pump so much … also, again, I’m pumping because I’m working and, maybe I’m uncoordinated, but I found it hard to pump with one hand and work (write or type) with the other OR to have a conversation with someone while also focusing on pumping (insert awkward suction sounds during conversations which were sometimes rhythmic and sometimes not, LOL). All of these distractions led to me missing or minimizing my work pumping sessions and, ultimately, frustration for me and baby when my supply diminished.I am SO EXCITED to have found this product and I cannot begin to understand why all those apps that promote products for mom and baby don’t include it. This is a MUST HAVE for all mamas and should be in EVERY mama basket at baby showers (it’s ok to have multiple, trust me!!!).I got the 4oz haaka without the stopper because I was leaking all over myself, especially at night. I figured if I could catch at least one oz per session, I’d have 8oz per day but I couldn’t find those milk catching shields I’ve heard about/seen online anywhere locally. When I started looking for them on Amazon, I came across this little gem and thought it looked interesting … for $12, it cost less than the shields, could catch more, and looked like an alternative to my preferred manual pump. It turned out to be all that and more! Not only did I easily catch the extra ounce per sessions, but I immediately noticed an increase in production. In a week, I have started a significant stash and now catch 1-3 oz per session and have 55oz collected and stored (in just a week).I just started using the haakaa to pump in between night sessions (baby is now sleeping 5-7 hours at night – and my son is only a month old). I believe him getting more hindmilk at each feeding (i.e., from the second breast) is alleviating his gas/upset tummy as well as filling him up completely, which has been stretching his sleep periods. Before the haakaa, he would get too much foremilk too fast then get gassy from all the air he was sucking in at my let down then he would spit up most of his meal when he burped, causing a lot of mess and the need to nurse again shortly thereafter because he was hungry again. It was a frustrating cycle that I’ve suffered through with baby #1 in the past thinking there was no other way; now, I have a tool to help manage it.I use the haakaa to catch my overflow at each nursing session then finish the session by moving baby to the second breast, which, by then, has been relieved of most of the foremilk and allows him to get more of the filling hindmilk. The result is a combination of reduced gas and increased sleep, which has already made life better for both of us!A couple things for moms trying this for the first time:- It IS different than anything you’ve tried before. Be patient with yourself! You’ll get it. Try it during the day at first so you can see what you are doing when your mind is clear and can focus (and awake!!!).- If you want to use it as a catch system during nursing, don’t stress about the suction level, it’s easy to simply squeeze the bottom and attach – that’s enough suction to catch the let down.- If you want it to actually “pump,” then you need to follow the instructions by bending back the top, aligning your nipple with the small neck opening, squeeze the bottom, and attach. I’ve noticed that the release/pumping action actually happens about 45 seconds after attaching it when the bottom is almost fully open; after that happens, squeeze again and wait for the next release. It usually takes me 4 squeezes to completely fill the “4oz” haaka. I also recommend paying attention to the weight of the unit when pumping; as it fills up, you need to monitor the suction and the volume to avoid it falling off OR you squeezing a full haakaa and dumping it out on accident.- The 4oz haaka is NOT 4oz, it’s 100mL, which is 3.3 oz. Personally, I don’t care that the measurements are off, I just care that I’m getting the milk! I use bottles to measure my supply anyway.- Pay attention as your milk supply increases … you’ll be surprised how fast you can pump or let down 3.5oz and have a mess on your hands when the haakaa itself overflows!!! Because of this, I’m ordering the 5oz/150mL version with the flower stopper. I will still use the 4oz during the day until my supply increases to the point that I need the 5oz all the time. Then I’ll probably get a second 5oz just so I can let the haakaa fully air dry between uses (saves a step of having to towel dry it … maybe I’m lazy, or maybe I have three kids, or maybe I’m finally getting a handle on this mom thing?).- Tip: I have bottles that I use to pour the milk into after each haaka session; when the bottles get to 4oz, I transfer the milk to bags. This allows me to be sure I have 4oz in each bag and for all my bags to be uniform in quantity, which will make it easier to prepare bottles down the road.- Tip: if you are fortunate enough to get one of these (or use ANY pump) during the early days when you are still producing that beautiful golden colostrum milk, consider freezing THAT milk in 1oz cubes or bags so you can add that liquid gold to your more mature milk down the road … this will give your baby powerful nutrition at 2+ months old that they normally would not get at that age.- Tip: use the haakaa after nursing on each breast to stimulate additional milk production. You may not get more milk that session, but it tells your body you need to make more – and it will!- You may find that you want to also use a classic electric pump to get that deep release when you are away from baby for longer periods … be gentle to yourself and don’t put stress on you to do things a certain way. It’s fine to use two (or three or four) different products to make sure you have the support you need. Any method that gets milk to your baby is a good method and any tool that helps you do that is a good tool. Try different things until you find the ones that work best for you.- Tip: enjoy this time with your baby; it doesn’t last long. 💙

Perfect for traveling or even when you are “shy” to pump in public

I recently started using the Haakaa Manual Breast Pump, and it has been a game changer for my breastfeeding journey. As a mom, finding efficient and comfortable breastfeeding tools is crucial, and this pump ticks all the boxes. What I love most about the Haakaa pump is its simplicity and effectiveness. Unlike electric pumps, it’s super easy to use – just attach it and let it do its work. The suction is surprisingly strong for a manual pump, and it’s been great at catching the let-down from the other side while I’m nursing my daughter. The silicone material is another huge plus. It’s soft and feels gentle against the skin, which is so important when you’re dealing with the sensitivity of breastfeeding. It’s also really easy to clean, which any busy mom can appreciate. Just a quick wash with soapy water, and it’s ready to go again. Its compact size is perfect for on-the-go. I can easily fit it in my bag when I’m heading out, which has been great for those times when I need to relieve engorgement or don’t want to miss an opportunity to express milk while away from home.I’m also impressed with how much milk I can collect with this pump. It’s only 4oz, but it’s enough for a single session, and it’s been incredibly useful for building up a little stash of breastmilk. The Haakaa pump is great for those moments when you don’t want to deal with the hassle of an electric pump. It’s quiet, discreet, and doesn’t require any cords or batteries, making it ideal for nighttime sessions or when you just need to express milk quickly and easily.Overall, the Haakaa Manual Breast Pump has been a wonderful addition to my breastfeeding essentials. It’s affordable, efficient, and gentle, making the breastfeeding experience a lot more manageable and less stressful. I’d highly recommend it to any breastfeeding mom looking for a simple and effective pumping solution.

    New moms need this.

Pros: 1. Effortless to Use: The simplicity of the design makes it user-friendly, especially for first-time moms. 2. Gentle and Comfortable: Its silicone material provides a gentle and comfortable pumping experience. 3. Versatility: Functions as both a manual pump and a milk collector while nursing, making it a versatile tool for breastfeeding mothers. 4. Compact and Portable: Its small size and lack of complex parts make it perfect for travel or on-the-go pumping. 5. Easy to Clean: With minimal parts, it’s easy to disassemble and clean, either by hand or in the dishwasher.Cons: 1. Limited Suction: Might not offer as strong suction as electric pumps, affecting milk output for some users. 2. Manual Effort: Requires manual pumping, which might not be as time-efficient as electric pumps. 3. Positioning Challenge: Maintaining the pump’s position while breastfeeding or holding the baby might be challenging for some users. As a daily user, I can confidently say that the Haakaa Manual Breast Pump is a must-have for first-time moms. Its ease of use, gentle nature, versatility, and portability make it an invaluable tool for breastfeeding. While it might have some limitations in terms of suction and manual effort, its overall utility and convenience outweigh these factors, making it an essential addition to any new mom’s breastfeeding toolkit.

Not even close to the electric pump

Got this as wanted to try something silent and not connected to the wall outlet for my night pumping sessions. It works. But too much hustle for me as I don’t produce too much milk so it takes time to make milk flow. Plus it’s painful. If I adjust the suction to not feel pain, milk simply doesn’t show up. When my electric pump extracts 40-50 ml, this one gets only 15-20. Maybe I don’t know some secret hacks of using this one and it may work for others, but for me it’s not must have. But on the bright side – it’s one piece and easy to clean.

    Best manual breastmilk product!

My wife and I love this manual haakaa, it’s super easy to use, convenient, easy clean up. We sometimes wish we bought a bigger size, somedays there’s more flow and she’ll fill one up and go to the 2nd one. She uses the haakaa on the heavier flow side while the baby is on the other boob and then does the switch-a-roo. We notice sometimes the milk flow is to much for our baby at times and the haakaa helps with so much. We dislike sometimes if not too careful a spill might happen we use a shallow mug to stabilize issue. Also the milk that dribbles down the bottom side of the nipple may leak out causing a slight mess. Overall a great product 👌

    Get it!!

I wasn’t sure about this and didn’t like it at first. Once I figured out how to apply it better, it became my best friend and I bought 2. I could leave these on in the morning until they filled then dump into a bottle and reapply to avoid pumping for a bit. O would definitely measure into a bottle before putting in a storage bag as the ounces are not correct. What showed as 4 oz on this was more like 2-2.5 oz. They were also helpful when I stopped pumping (I exclusively pumped) and was trying to stop my milk production. I put these on the relieve the pressure and they worked wonderfully! If you’re breastfeeding, pumping, or both, I’d highly recommend this.

    Game changer!

I was struggling with pumping and breastfeeding my newborn baby since he was wanting to eat almost every hour or hour and a half. The milk I was trying to save, I had to use the same day since my baby would get hungry soon after pumping and did not seen satisfied after breastfeeding him. Then I found this wonderful thing!! I love the Haaka!! I have been able to collect about 1 oz every time I feed my baby, no hustle, no cords, easy to clean. This allows me to save the milk I pump with the electric pump, and I still have extra milk I get from the haaka in case I need to supplement. I am finally building my milk bank :)Also I feel like my supply has increased considerably, although I am sure that it has to do more with my baby going through a growth spur and cluster feeding, but I am also sure that the extra stimulation I get from using the Haaka has helped as well.Anyway! I feel that this manual pump is a MUST HAVE when you are breast feeding. I plan to gift this to every friend that is having a baby.

    So easy to use

I love this little pump! It’s easy to use and very portable. I’ve put away 4oz daily while using it to just collect from the side my 3 week old isn’t nursing on. With my first I had such issues with breast pumps. I hated them and struggled to the point that I lost my milk at around 6 months since I was back at work. I am feeling much more confident with this pump. It can collect an ounce from each breast in less than 5 minutes! I never have such luck with any double electric pumps.

Best way to build your freezer stash!

I’m a second time mom and this continues to be my favorite breastfeeding gadget! I only use it at night and over the past two months I have a significant freezer stash saved! I prefer the no frills option and place the whole thing into a large insulated cup to prevent spills and preserve so I don’t have to make an extra trip to the fridge in the middle of the night. 10000% recommend to all breastfeeding mamas!
