A beast!
I liked that it was a quick delivery and set up. Simple to get going, started on the first pull. I was able to cut grass with ease. I really like how easy it is to adjust the height, so simple. One level adjusts all four wheels at once and it has a wide variety of heights to find the perfect one I want. I happy with this mower and would recommend it.

Best little push mower we’ve ever bought!
1. Arrived fast very well packed 2. Very easy to un pack and put together. 3. Very well made, with lots of features you usually find on more expensive mowers, like the nice big back wheels which makes mowing much easier, while still being lightweight.

Yardmax Lawnmower Review
Lawnmower arrived in a box that was saturated in oil. Once removed from the box and parked on the garage floor it seeped oil onto the floor. Oil was later found to be seeping from the backside of the OHV housing. The company said that this condition is normal, instead of fixing it. They do not stand behind their product. Stay away!!

Great mower. Highly recommend. Mine came without a handle piece and I had to wait 2 weeks for the factory to ship this piece. So customer service can improve.

Great mower
Nice quality, strong engine, starts well. The blade is not real sharp as delivered. Sharpened it and it cuts much better. Very happy with the mower.

The thing will not start.
I would give this mower 5 stars if only it would start. The mower is light, and easy to assemble but took 3 pulls on day one to start. It did a great job and my lawn looks great.A week later it is time to do it again. I pulled the mower out of the head and started pulling the cord 20 times and not even a sputter.Yes, there is gas in it.It is now two days later and I thought I’d give it another try to no avail.I am very disappointed with this purchase.

It arrived late by a few weeks and it doesn’t even work
It arrived late by a few weeks. The worst part is it doesn’t even work. The axle on the left front wheel is severely bent which makes the wheel immovable.I desperately need a mower to shred leave on the lawns so had to make do with this thing, but boy that was a pain. It’s a big item which makes returning a big hassle.

31 years of mulching and this mower mulches better than any previous mower.
I have used this mower 3 times on about half an acre yard.Likes:1. has a single height adjustment lever which makes it very fast to adjust for thick grass.2. is reasonably light weight, about 60 pounds and is easy to push.3. price tag for it delivered into your garage is fantastic4. gas tank is large enough not to need a refill and oil is very easy to put in it comes with a funnel.Complaints:1. I do not know what lawn equipment jerk started labeling mowers with CCs instead of Horse Power. For a hundred years we all know and understand what HP means. I think 170 CCs is approximately 7 horse power which is one reason the mower mulches thick grass so well.2. the flap on the back of the mower is too wide and will catch preventing the easy reversal when mowing. I took a knife and cut one inch of it off and the mower is much easier to use when backing up and pivoting. Conclusion: first experiences with this lawnmower have been very good….one year from now I will update this review. I would buy this again.

good power light duty mower/mulcher
This Yardmax gas mower has a powerful engine for a light duty machine. The large rear wheels add to the maneuverability. The mower weighs around sixty pounds and comes mostly assembled. It took ten minutes to get it unboxed and the handle attached. Make sure to add engine oil as it comes shipped dry. There’s a handle to adjust the cutting height quick and easy. For the price, it’s a lightweight mower/mulcher that starts up quick and runs strong.

Yardmax does not actually have any customer service.
I would have given this mower a very good review if only Yardmax had any real, actual customer service. Inside the box the mower came in, there is one of those sheets that says, “STOP … do not return to store … call us first”. It strikes me as very odd for a company to do this but not actually have any customer service. I had a small problem that they should have been able to correct. The cap for the oil dipstick/filler does not fit properly into the pipe leading down into the crankcase. The cap has a thick section near its top where there is an o-ring with outer diameter 20 mm. But the interior diameter of the pipe is 22 mm. By design the cap does not screw on, i.e., it is held in place by friction only. As such, it needs to be snug and shouldn’t wobble. The cap is so loose that it wobbles and there isn’t really much friction to keep it from coming out. This is a terrible, terrible design even if it were a proper fit. But since the fit isn’t snug, this is not acceptable in the least.I’ve had the mower now for almost two weeks. I first submitted a request for customer service via their web site. After a week there was no reply, so I sent an email. With no reply to it either, I began trying to call them, starting a couple of days ago. After selecting the appropriate menu option, there phone system advises to “continue to stay on the line … ” Yesterday I stayed on the line for more than half an hour, and no one ever answered the phone. I did this again today, but only for about ten minutes this time. It is all but certain that there wasn’t anyone answering the customer service extension, and that they had so little appreciation of their customers that they left the phone answering system where it told people to stay on the line even though there was no one there to pick up the calls. Would I have bought a product from a brand that was going to treat me like this, if I had known that this is how they are? Absolutely not. As far as I am concerned, companies that treat customers this way, that show this little appreciation for their customers, need to simply go out of business. The sooner it happens, the better it is for everyone. As far as it affects their customer service, they’ve already gone out of business anyway. So, now I have no way to know what I should do about this oil filler/dipstick cap. I hope that they did not do this intentionally, as a way to vent the crankcase. The crankcase absolutely does need to be vented, because for a single-cylinder engine especially, the crankcase volume changes as the piston moves back and forth. But surely they did not think that it would be appropriate to vent the crankcase by using an oil filler cap that fits loosely and that might fall out and that will allow fine sand and other debris to enter the crankcase. Over time, this will surely result in destruction of the engine. I am hoping that they weren’t stupid enough to think that this is an acceptable way to provide for crankcase ventilation.I am hoping that the engine has another means for ventilating the crankshaft, and that the loose cap is simply an error during assembly. There just isn’t any way for me to know.I called AMZN customer service. They had another number for Yardmax, but it was just another number for reaching the same phone answering system. No help.I wouldn’t have bought their product if I had known about their lousy attitude toward customers. I have to let other people know about this, and recommend to other people that they buy whatever equipment they need from another company that genuinely appreciates their customers. And based on the information I have, i.e., that the mower was shipped with the wrong oil filler cap or else with one that was intentionally too small to fit snugly, in order that this would correct the oversight with respect to crankcase ventilation, I am not able to avoid the conclusion that the engine is most likely junk. The more I think about it, the more I am inclined to think that this loose cap was their solution to the need for the crankcase to be ventilated. And when I think about this, I can’t avoid thinking that the engine is a piece of junk. This, together with them not answering the phone, just doesn’t leave me with a good feeling about Yardmax or their products.

Acceptable mower
Appears to be well made and comes with complete instructions on care and maintenance, all to the good. The weight is good, especially as I have areas where it’s difficult to mow and I have to manhandle the mower a bit. The motor seems to perform well, with the exception that it is inordinately hard to restart if you have to stop it for even a minute or so. It should just restart immediately, but I had to reprime and pull and pull the starter cord multiple times. That shouldn’t have to happen with the motor stopped for only a minute or two. It is advertised as a side discharge or mulching mower, which I liked, but the discharge chute, when fitted, is easily knocked off when you even lightly brush against something, and if that happens you have to stop the mower and then have the restart problem. The blade isn’t particularly sharp and doesn’t give the sense that you are cutting well, but on completion it looks fine, so I’m OK with it I guess. It’s not a perfect mower and could be better but I’m reasonably satisfied and will continue to mow with it.

Put it together in about 5 minutes, added oil and gas, started on the first pull. Very light, easy to push, and cut my long 6 inch grass like butter and also mulched all the fall leaves easily. Very happy.

Don’t waste your money
I may have bought a lemon based on reviews . While assembling machine does not come with oil, even Walmarts yardmasters come with oil. During first now the rear guard broke off, it’s a hard plastic that won’t easily flip from front pushing to pulling. Front wheels do not stay level and bounce causing uneven mowing. This is the loudest mower I’ve ever had, never considers wearing ear protection until I purchased this pos

This updated Yardmax mower is inferior to 4 yr old Yardmax I own. Less than two months and already New Yardmax will NOT start. My old Yardmax is still going strong but now working harder on my large yard due to brand new Yardmax no longer working. . DO NOT BUY this Yardmax. The starter pin does not move when you grab the handle. If it doesn’t move, it doesn’t engage so it doesn’t start. Very bad design on this pin. You can’t tighten it or adjust it. The pin is just bad. I would not recommend this product.

Does not come with oil.
Every time in my long life Ive spent hundreds on a lawnmower, they’ve had the decency to throw in a two dollar small amount of starter oil. This priduct does not. I will make certain next time I choose a manufacturer with more consideration for their customers.

Possible fix…???
Three years ago I bought this same Yardmax mower at a home improvement store, same model though. People are saying it’s hard to start, and after following the instructions I had same issue. What FIXED it for me was pumping the primer bulb ~12x’s instead of the 3x (I think) the manual suggests. Start’s first pull every time now.No other problems until last weekend when the 11 inch rear wheel broke, which is why I’m here now. But since both me and my neighbor have been using this mower for three years, I can’t take away any stars. Got a replacement for $26. Had to make sure it came with a bearing, the first and cheaper replacement I bought used a bushing (bearings are easier to push!) and won’t work on this setup. It’s powerful, reliable and easy to push. I use premium gas and synthetic oil, changing it every summer. No reliability issues other than the wheel

Very cheaply made
I bought one years ago and it didn’t last. Very cheap product. Plastic parts that are normally aluminum. Some parts melted and/ or wore out fast. I do not recommend this product. Wouldn’t even give it a one star rating.

Will not start!
I have tried multiple to start the mower and it will not start. Yes, added gas and oil, followed their instructions. I’ve only had a dozen mowers over a life time. I know how they work. I’ve called customer service twice and been disconnected in mid-sentence. I called a third time, and they said high caller volume and I was disconnected. I’ve had it for a week and I can’t use it! I can’t rate it if I can’t use it! Come on…

An okay mower
This mower was pretty easy to assemble and get running. Its a basic no frills mower that does what it needs to. Getting it started can be a little challenging. There is a priming bulb that you press to get fuel into the engine. I hope that the mower will hold up. I am not that confident that it will last.

I like this mower
Very sturdy handle. Large rear wheels good over rough ground. Starts and runs well. Very well packed. Very easy to assemble. Single adjustment for all wheels is located well to avoid wreckage while operating. Not a lightweight, should last a long time.

light weight is a good thing
It’s a good mower. It’s a four-star mower because of one simple thing. I basically jog behind the mower and whip it around more than your average lawn cutter. When you quickly reserve your path (a quick out and back like I’m pushing a vacuum cleaner), the lawn mower will stutter and drop power for a moment. Then I have to wait. It slows me down and I start pondering all the other things in my life that need to get done. It’s a good mower, but a lousy motivator.

Easy to set up right out of the box, but make sure to have some motor oil when it arrivers
I had the mower and running is less than fifteen minutes out of the box. I was not very happy about the fact that they were too cheap to include a bottle of motor oil. Luckily I had some in storage. At least they included a funnel to put in the motor oil. I have purchased other mowers before online and they always shipped a bottle of motor oil. Even my Craftsman riding mower came with a quart of motor oil. I just finishing mowing my back yard with it, and I am pleased with the way it cuts and maneuvers. Might but the self propelled model as well.

So far so good
Easy to assembly, started right up after assembly, gas and oil added- does not come with oil, but no biggy, I prefer to put the best oil in my mowers regardless. Has ran fine for the first several cuts – will continue to update. Feels kinda cheap, however it is a steel frame and the motor is mounted to a steel base as well. My old push mower broke where the frame and motor meet, which was plastic on my old model. Hoping this will hold up for several seasons.
