  1. Great Knife Made in Japan

    5.0 out of 5 stars

    Great and sharp

I recently purchased the Vivosun Gardening Scissors and I must say, they have made my pruning tasks a breeze. These scissors are specifically designed for cannabis plants, but they are versatile enough to be used for other gardening purposes as well. The blades on these scissors are sharp and precise, allowing for precise pruning and trimming. I have found that they make clean cuts, helping to promote healthy plant growth. The ergonomic design of the scissors makes them comfortable to hold, even during extended periods of use. I appreciate the quality and durability of these scissors. They have a strong construction that feels sturdy in my hand. The blades are made of high-quality stainless steel, which ensures their longevity and resistance to rust and corrosion. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Vivosun Gardening Scissors. They have become an essential tool in my gardening routine, especially for cannabis plants. If you’re looking for reliable and efficient gardening scissors, I highly recommend giving these a try.

    Great Hand Pruners

This summer I needed something to trim my tomato vines. I used these to constantly maintain the vines and remove the suckers. I trained my vines to one leader up a stake. I was more aggressive than ever in cutting extra growth. My tomato production was incredible as a result. These were very sharp, easy to lock, easy to use, and fit well in my hand. I have always used my pocket knife to prune my tomato vines. This was my first time having dedicated hand pruners to do the job. They made it a joy to maintain my vines.

    Nice trimmers

Great value and they work well for trimming. I bought both the curved blade and straight blade versions.

    Precision pruning!

Four stars, simply because they don’t feel exceptionally rugged; I expect I’ll get a couple years out of them, but somehow they don’t feel like they’ll hold up long term.Otherwise, these are really nice. I’ve never had anything like these, only hand-held bypass shears (secateurs?) for fruit tree pruning. I got these because I wanted to be able to prune my tomato plants. But even though it’s too early to need to do much of that, these have already been very useful for pruning seedling plants where I over seeded and now need to thin. I feel much better about surgically removing extra seedlings than yanking out roots that might be tangled up in the roots of the plants I’m keeping. These are nice and sharp, very precise, and fit well in the hand, even though they are a bit small. Excellent tool for the price.

A fine and precision trimming instrument

Feels good in the hand, and is larger (5-10%?) in all dimensions than the comparable Fiskars trimmer, which costs about 2x this price. The blades bear against each other perfectly, and, on testing, I find I can even cut the thinnest piece of tissue paper with them, as a test of the blades’ nesting together. If this matching or proximity of the blades should change, it’s easy to tighten the Philips-head screw at the fulcrum of the tool.Handles are inlaid with non-slip rubber, a nice feature in case there’s perspiration or precipitation when you’re working.A great tool! Hats off, VivoSun!, and thanks.A minor quibble: I’ve become used to the action of the Fiskars. The VivoSun has a spring that’s a bit stronger than Fiskars’ spring. I’ll either get “used to” this higher (greater) restoring-force that impels the blades apart, or I’ll change the spring tension: How can I do that? Well, it’s easy to remove the spring, and if I heat it in a gas flame on the stove, holding it with kitchen tongs or a pliers, and let it cool s-l-o-w-l-y, the tension of the hard spring may soften (this is “annealing”). IF I overdo the softening, I can heat it cherry-red again and plunge it into water to re-harden it. Simple. No hurry! Maybe I’ll just get used to this stronger spring, and maybe it will also become a little weaker in force as I use it over months and years (yes, the construction of this trimmer is up to lasting years and decades, I’d say). The lock is very positive and easy to employ.Kudos! Again, a great tool, and it’s a bargain.I’ll use this on tomatoes, and other garden plants, for pruning and trimming of tender stems, and leaves.–Joe / Tucson AZ / USAUPDATE: May 29. 2021 >>>—-> I’ve annealed (softened) the spring in the way I mention above, and it’s just right now to my way of feeling and working. Another reviewer mentioned that he “shortened” the spring to reduce its tension, but, no need to cut it if you do the simple annealing of its hardness as I’ve outlined. Thus far, I’ve pruned six or seven cherry-tomato plants, and, oh yes, some of the larger fan-leaves from other plants that are now about 4 weeks into flowering. Excellent action of the pruner, and they are extremely precise. (BTW, laughable account by the reviewer who claims the stainless metal blades dissolved in isopropyl alcohol! Had a good chuckle… ). –JLMp.s. To protect the sharp ends and straightness of the precision-ground blade tips, I use a half of a wine-cork as a protector (you could trim the cork down further to make it more compact). This saves pockets from being punctured and perforated, too. 😉 I’ll include a photo of the cork in place on the pruner tips, here with this edit. “Safety First!” A nice alternative to a cork would be to dip the tips into a can of the liquid “tool-handle” dip coating, like the “Plasti-Dip” which Amazon sells, and let that deposit harden-up until it’s cured in a few hours (the Fiskars trimmer comes with a tip-protector like that). Best wishes trimming. -J.

It’s nice to be able to make those small cuts or trimming on my house plants and stems. These do a fine job and have remained sharp.

Nice cutters… bad longevity due to easy to lose spring

I enjoyed using these for 2 days… until I accidentally snapped the spring out while disinfecting them and lost the spring in the driveway. Now they are very difficult to use without the spring. There is no info on replacement springs. Not worth $7 for 2 days of use!! The springs are not actually attached, but merely “sprung” over knobs on each side to keep the tension. It will pop out if you apply too much pressure sideways. Alas.

    Great choice for aerogarden harvesting/pruning

So glad I saw these and ordered. The long, thin shears make it easy to prune and harvest in the right spots of an aerogarden (or other aquaponics garden). I was inadvertently cutting extra stalks with my regular scissors because they’re so bulky. These are great and the lock-shut mechanism is very handy. Highly recommend!

    It’s a snap! err… a snip!

These gardening scissors are a bit smaller than I had anticipated, but exactly as advertised. I love the little thumb-lock switch to keep them closed when not in use. They are extremely sharp and are excellent for trimming herbs and light vegetables that I am growing in my hydroponic setup. I don’t know if I would use them on anything larger, but for this price point, they are excellent!!

    Nice!

Using for an indoor bonsai tree. They cut really well. For the price they are very nice! They are small, so I will keep them in the house rather than use on my woodsy-outdoor plants. Doesn’t seem like you can apply alot of force to he handles.

These snips work well at a very good price

These mini pruners work well at a price that’s less then half what major namebrand pruners cost. They are however, a bit flimsy, and are limited as to what they can cut in the garden. They are really only good for dainty flowers and shrubs that are thin!stemmed, and easy to cut. I broke my first pair trying to trim a butterfly bush. They have very limited capacity..

    Nice pair of scissors

Really nice pair of scissors I must say. Cuts well and feels nice in the palm of my hand. No pain after using for a while. Very good for the cost of the item. There was one small issue I had with a pair I first recieved. When I would close the scissors completely the blades would over lap. I am not sure this really would have been an issue, but I knew there had to be a pair that did not do this so I decided to return it and have a replacement sent back to me. The next pair was perfect. I am enjoying using them.

Yet another garden tool I didn’t know I needed

I spent a lot of time in the garden this year. I built the whole garden out in 2023. Grew everything from seed. I didn’t realize how much more precise you can get with pruners versus just branch clippers. These are so lightweight too. They fit perfectly into my cargo pockets. I had a huge variety of tomatoes and some actually needed to be pruned off as well as peppers and celery. If you are going to get garden tools, the 4 in the picture are the ones to get. Garden pictures are from May 2023 and November 2023.

    Very comfortable, sharp!

I used these to trim 3 lbs of hippy lettuce and didn’t have any hand fatigue, in fact, I loaned them to a friend and he ended up buying a set! With one in my hand and one in a jar of rubbing alcohol, they made trimming a breeze. One tip: remove the locking tab, it was a pain in the butt and would lock them randomly while trimming.

I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting but these work great. Definitely worth the money. I don’t think it would work well on any thick fig leaf tree branches though. That’s something to consider when buying. It worked well with my orchid though. Easy to clean. It seems durable.

Wish I’d bought one sooner, BUT the lock is unreliable

First off, for any gardener who doesn’t own a tool of this type: Buy one. Once you use it you won’t know how you ever lived without it. They’re *so useful* for thinning, pruning, harvesting…indispensible.However. These particular ones have an annoying flaw with the locking mechanism. It works great at first, but after a couple months, the little nub/detent that holds it in the *un*locked position has worn down enough that the locking piece can slide freely, so when I hold them blades-down, it slides forward and blocks the handles from closing completely. Based on pictures, other off-brand snips probably share the same weakness. The Fiskars, Corona, etc. name-brand products use a different design, but it’s unclear if it’s better.

    Cheap Quality

“You get what you pay for” is a true statement for this product. It was a low price. Product arrived in a timely manner. It works as expected. The clipper is lightweight and feels cheap. The blades cut well the first couple of uses then after that, they already felt dull and won’t cut cleanly and easily. I don’t recommend this. Spend a few more dollars and get a good product that you won’t have to replace every month.

    Dulled quickly

These gardening scissors are a great petite size for my small hands. The other pair I had were a bit too big & I ended up needing to use 2 hands with them a lot. Not with these! They fit comfortable in my hand & are easy to control & lock/unlock with my thumb. My issues with them include- they dulled at the tips/ends after the first week with light to moderate use, which bummed me out. That shouldn’t of happened that fast! The lock/unlock button gets loose quickly & often slips on/off when you’re not wanting it to, but it’s not a deal breaker.

Great trimmers with nice curved blades

Nice trimmers. Get an extra pair so you can keep trimming when pair #1 gets too gummy and you don’t want to stop and clean them.
