Two year review; works great and I still like it but button sticks

After owning this microwave air fryer combo for two years, I can safely say that I still like it and it still works great. It especially works well as a microwave. The ONLY functional issue I’ve encountered is that the primary button that starts the microwave started to stick on one side. As a result, it was hard to get the microwave to start AND there was one time when the button got jammed, so it kept adding time to the cook time on its own. This was obviously problematic.I think this shows a problem with the desgn of the microwave, because they could have used a button that was completely rubber sealed. Instead, grease can get in under the lip of the button a little bit. I solved the issue by spraying the button with a little degreasing kitchen cleaner spray, and tried to get it into all little corners under the lip of the button. It helped a lot, but it still looks a bit stuck. The OTHER main issue for everyone to be aware of is this thing is much bigger than a standard microwave. A LOT bigger, especially with regard to its front to back depth. This makes it function less efficiently/ effectively compared to a normal, dedicated air fryer. However, the overall counter space savings are worth it. We often use it as a toaster, in place of a toaster oven.

The Sensor Reheat is the real feature here

Nice enough finish, handle is good, directions are absurd broken engrish. The real test for me was a full plate of Kung Pao Chicken and House Fried rice. An almost impossible even reheat without stirring item. Covered with quality vented plastic microwave intended dome, hit the Reheat setting and the start and in about 3-4 minutes I had the best, thoroughly heated plate of Chinese you could ask for. If the dome were a little more vented it might have cut down the time a bit, but that’s something you can play with if you want. I like the +30 sec. start button and the 1-3 one touch buttons are all I need for most of my use. 1250 Watts for the price is a definite bargain, more powerful than what you may be replacing, so some adjustment in you style may be needed. I did burn a hole in a cheap plastic storage container NOT using the reheat feature on a different item. It was caused by a small amount of thin sauce above the food level, much as you would have if you reheated meat in a zip type bag, which you should not do. The small learning curve is a very slight deal for the performance of this unit. I was replacing an older GE, about 5 years old that just quit. I bought a 900 watt at a local wally store and after one use I knew I would not be happy with it, so I ordered this. I returned the 900 watt. Day and night difference in capability and performance. I live by myself but if I cook its still a quantity like the family was still here to eat it, but I never mind the good leftovers. I minded the cook, stir, cook, stir exercise that it took for a decent reheat but no more. With this unit you can put all the components of a meal on the plate and cook them all at once with great success. It might sound like a bit of hype, but this is a game changer for me in “what’s for supper?”. I can forgive the directions for the top drawer performance.

Love the microwave and the air fry being all-in-one.

I bought this specifically for combining functionality, I don’t want my kitchen full of single use appliances. This fit the bill, been using it for about two months and it’s phenomenal. The way things come out using the air-fry/convection features, it’s just perfect. Pairing that with shorter preheat times than a full size oven, less energy use overall for small batch air-fry or baking. It makes a great replacement for the old microwave that could only do one trick.IDK why Amazon keeps thinking this model has Alexa, it doesn’t. Or if it does, they’ve done a masterful job of hiding the feature. I’d rather have matter/thread HomeKit features anyway, if anything.

    Just a regular microwave

Don’t let all the hype fool you this is just a regular standard basic microwave and nothing special.I needed a microwave and this fit the bill. I got this a gag gift for my wife for Christmas. On the 21st during our kids birthday party the old microwave we had died. Conveniently we opened this one and it replaced a 5 year old microwave that up until that time worked fine just the light was burned out. This one is no difference than the old regular microwave my wife bought from walmart years ago.it doesn’t heat anything faster or more thoroughly its just a 1.6 cu microwave

    Great microwave

Wow what a difference compared to all my other microwave ovens and this is my first brand new microwave. I thought this was going to be bigger. I actually thought it was going to be comparable in size to my old microwave but it’s not in a good way. My old microwave was wider and shorter than my new Toshiba microwave. And I love all the new features that are on this microwave that we’re not on my old microwave. This is only my 4th microwave and I’m 56 now and I’ve had them since I was 18. I love all the one touch functions this has and the clock is much easier to setup I also like the built in kitchen timer it has. I could keep going on, my personal opinion this is my favorite and easiest one to use, my only nitpick is the handle feels a little cheap and has slightly sharp edges. Other than that it’s a wonderful microwave.

    A Winner

This is a medium size microwave but has all the bells and whistles of the larger model. It is awesome on looks and really added to the décor of our kitchen. It is very quiet and does a good job heating most things. I especially like the Sensor Reheat feature. So far it has worked flawlessly. You just place a dish of food in to reheat, cover it, and press the Sensor Reheat button. The microwave does all the rest. I also learned that if you add about a teaspoon of water into the dish, something that is prone to dry out, it will not lose it’s moisture and will reheat to perfection. I can’t think of anything I don’t like about this purchase. It is a great microwave that has a high rating all over the internet.

Good miccrowave, but interior dimensions listed are incorrect

This is a good microwave overall, but it’s interior dimensions are considerably smaller than what is listed. Specifically, the interior dimension were listed as “internal dimension (wxdxh): 15.5 x 17 x 10.2”. However, now that the microwave is here, I’ve measured the interior and it’s 14.5 x 14.5 x 9.5. Not unusable, but clearly not what was in the listing. It isn’t a complete surprise, given that larger microwaves tend to have 15″ trays and this one is 13.5″, but it is still disappointing.

10 pounds of “stuff” in a 5 pound bag

This microwave does everything. In fact it does too much. This makes the user interface complex. Toshiba has done what they could to keep it simple, but there’s only so much that can be done.Pros:* This microwave does just about everything you would want. The only thing missing is a temperature probe.* It can replace several single-purpose appliances.* It seems to work well, but I’ve only had this for a few weeks.Cons:* As mentioned above, the user interface is a bit complex.* The Microwave function is noisier than I’m used to.* The Air Fryer preheat takes a while.

    Love this!

Until I got this, I had no idea about air frying. This does so many things including air frying, baking, broiling, and use as a microwave. This literally bakes cakes and pies to perfection. Air frying is a cinch. I feel lucky I set my fears aside and made this purchase. No more turning on a big oven… Especially here in Florida in the summer heat. There is no heated kitchen with this oven. As someone who prepares dinners nearly every day, this has really simplified my life! Best purchase EVER!!!!!!

    Turntable Not Synced

The TOSHIBA microwave generally works great. But there is one annoying part of the operation. The turntable is not synchronized to the time setting. Other microwaves I’ve had work as follows: you put your cup, to be heated, on the turntable, set the time for an even amount EI: 10, 20, 30, and when done your cup is in the start position when you open the door. Not so with the Toshiba microwave, it might be in any position on the turntable. This is annoying to me because I place my cup with handle out, but when done it may be deep inside requiring me to reach in touching the hot cup to retrieve it. It should come back to its original start position.

    Microwave

Microwave works very well. BUT it has an odor, that to this date is still there. The odor comes from..somewhere in the guts of the microwave. We thought over time it would clear, being new. Sorry, we threw out the box to soon…would have returned it.

I love that it’s quiet and a combo microwave and air fryer.

I love the unit. Have used the microwave though it seems not to heat a cuppa coffee as hot in 1 min. I am intimidated by the air fryer but that’s because I’m old! 🙂 I expect that to change as I have joined some groups to help me with that along the way and getting ready to jump in! 🙂 I had to exchange the first on as it was a bit too large for my counter top but both seemed excellent otherwise. (it pays to read the measurements!) One drawback is the numbers are not lighted and that is a problem in low light in the evening for a senior.

    So quiet, works great

Every time I use this microwave I’m astonished by how quiet it is. It’s practically silent unless you’re right up next to it. The sensor reheat has worked well for me as well as timed cooking/heating. I’m very pleased with this purchase!

Right Color and just wish it cooked faster or hotter.

I wanted a microwave that was black and had a door handle for was I was looking for and feature this seems to be a good choice. But honestly my old microwave worked great until it caught on fire. And the one before that was wonderful. This one I don’t love. It works as it should but compared to my last two – powerwise I feel like I am cooking things a lot longer to get them fully heated in the center.

    Fantastic microwave

I bought this microwave to replace a very old microwave that had issues. My old microwave’s keypad was failing and the paint on the inside was badly rotting away. So it was time to buy a new microwave.I also purchased a microwave plate cover to protect this new microwave from splatter. The splatter is what caused my old microwave’s paint to chip away. If you have food splatter (like pasta sauce) inside the microwave, then you turn the microwave on. You’ll cook the paint job. Over time the paint will start to chip away.So i bought this plate cover and so far it’s keeping the microwave clean:(i included a photo of the plate cover inside the microwave)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KVK337M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Pros:- Cooking -It cooks really well. I was surprised to find out this cooks a bit better than my old microwave. Seems to cook more evenly. Cooks just as fast as my old microwave (similar wattage)My old microwave: 1,000 wattsThis Toshiba: 1,100 watts- Touch pad (East To Use) -Nice simple touch pad. It works well. Lots of quick touch options. The “One touch start” is great, press 1 for 1 minute, 2 for 2 minutes, etc… good for older people. Not complicated to figure out.- Instruction Label -It has a label on the inside the microwave with info / instructions for cooking different things (defrost, melt, popcorn, etc) so you have that info available to you anytime.- Noise Level (Cooking noise) -It does make noise like all microwaves do but the noise it makes is actually pretty quiet. Much more quiet than my old microwave. The noise it makes is an odd buzzing noise when you turn it on to cook. At first i thought that buzzing noise it was making was a bad sign but that’s just the noise it makes. Not an issue. Just a new sound to a different microwave.- Keypad Beep noise -You can turn off the beep noise of the keypad. I turned it off to test it, it works. But i turned it back on just because i then realized i enjoy hearing the beep noise feedback.- Child safety -There is a safety option, at first i thought if i activate it, it would prevent the door from opening but that’s not how it works. If you activate it, you can still open the door. But the microwave won’t function until you turn off the lock via the keypad. A little lock icon will appear on the LCD screen to let you know it’s locked. So after every time you finish using the microwave you will have to turn the lock option on. When you want to use it, turn lock option off. If you have kids it might be worth the extra steps to lock / unlock it, otherwise it’s not worth using.- Microwave color -It looks stylish. Especially if you have black / chrome around the kitchen. It’s also fine with white also.Cons:- The stainless steel on the door is a “finger print magnet”. If you touch it, it will create smear marks. The handle has the chrome also.(i included a photo of that)- Color options -One thing i noticed when trying to buy a microwave. The color options are very limited.I do wish this microwave had more color options. I originally was hoping to get a 100% white microwave or at least get this same color microwave but have the black be in the color of white or even 100% silver but it’s not an option. It’s fine though. It still looks pretty good.- Clock -Not really a huge complaint, but if you unplug the microwave, the clock gets reset automatically. I think this is an issue with all microwaves. Would be nice if it could save the time when not plugged in. Because if you accidentally unplug it, then you have to set the time again.Summary:I haven’t fully tested ALL the cooking features. But for basic everyday use of quickly heating / cooking things, it works well, cooks well. Great microwave. Worth spending money on as it’s an investment that should last for many years.

    So far so good.

I purchased this unit (TOSHIBA ML-EM45PIT-BS Countertop Microwave Oven with Inverter Technology) to replace our 2-year-old TOSHIBA EM131A5C-BS that started tripping our GFCI outlets when the Start button was pushed. Due to uneven heating issues with our old unit and its premature failure, I was reluctant to purchase another microwave from this manufacturer. However, I am happy to report that this was a great purchase. The TOSHIBA ML-EM45PIT-BS with Inverter technology has been a game-changer. This microwave delivers speed and efficiency with even cooking every time. The design is sleek and has a spacious interior that gives me greater flexibility to prepare a wider range of dishes. I am so impressed with the inverter technology. It has drastically improved defrosting and provides better cooking results with faster cooking times. The unit is impressively quiet to boot. I highly recommend this microwave. It has eased many daily aggravations in the kitchen and been well worth the price. Fingers crossed that it has greater longevity than its predecessor did.

Powerful, sleek microwave with MUTE–BUT countdown timer prevents microwave from being used!!

I was replacing a tiny 0.7 cu ft GE microwave and needed something a bit bigger as the interior opening of the GE was chipping off due to 10.5″ dinner plates barely being able to fit through the opening. I liked this because it was stainless steel and had a larger turntable (12.4″, enough to fit our dinner plates easily), BUT the actual footprint of the microwave is still in the midsize range (20″x17″) to fit on our small portable island cart. We are musicians with a home recording studio, so a mute function is essential. We were actually shocked at how few microwave models have a mute function–at least one that is advertised. I saw some videos saying that there are some “secret” codes you can push to force the mute, but I didn’t want to take a chance on ordering a $200 microwave only to discover that it can’t be muted! Even higher-end models of GE, the same brand as our tiny 0.7 cu ft model, don’t come with a mute function (had to comb through tons of Q&A to find out), which is bizarre. So we were looking at other brands and saw this Toshiba on Amazon. I recognize that most microwaves are made by the same parent company now (Midea), but even so, Toshiba seems like a solid name, versus some very low-end brand like Insignia. Even though I prefer the push-button door opening mechanism to a pull handle (so the handle doesn’t stick out) like this Toshiba has, if it had a mute, I was ok with it. Plus, we only really use the microwave to reheat foods, so we didn’t need fancy cooking functions. The size was perfect, it was sleek and stainless, the price was decent, and it had a mute, so I ordered it. it arrived in pristine condition in just a couple days (Prime), but we quickly discovered the kicker: the kitchen countdown timer CANNOT work with the microwave being on!! At first we thought something was broken or that we had not turned the timer on correctly, as we could not get the microwave to turn on once the timer was engaged, but then I read in the manual that indeed, the microwave MUST BE OFF for the kitchen timer to work. That’s ridiculous–surely if the tiny GE microwave is capable of maintaining a separate countdown timer from the microwave timer, that this larger and more expensive Toshiba should be able to do the same? Ah well. As a result, we are now having to buy a separate kitchen timer for cooking on the stove or oven, but it definitely would have been more convenient to have this function integrated into the microwave and still be able to use the microwave to reheat while we are cooking other things in the kitchen! Otherwise, the microwave is great–it has a cool white LED light inside instead of the typical warm yellow, and the internal capacity is definitely spacious enough to fit dinner plates or medium-sized Pyrex dishes, and the advertised 1100 W really does reheat food a lot faster than our old microwave, which I think was only 700 W. The sensor reheat on setting #1 seems to work flawlessly so far–cold food comes out steaming hot, but not overcooked. We haven’t tried the defrost yet. The only other thing i miss on the tiny microwave is that it had a dedicated “beverage” reheat button. It’s possible that this one has it in the menu somewhere that we haven’t found yet, but considering that we reheat beverages all the time and never popcorn or potatoes, I would have greatly preferred a dedicated beverage button on the keypad. So far, we’re using the sensor reheat on beverages and it’s working fine, so I guess it doesn’t really matter. This would definitely have 5 stars from me if it wasn’t for the kitchen timer! I wish they had put in the listing that the kitchen timer does not work with the microwave–we most likely would not have purchased it, if so, but we are still going to keep it as it remains the best microwave at our price point (<$200) in the needed size (<20x17) that is stainless with a mute function. 33 people found this helpful

Was not prepared for this microwave

Allow me to paint you a story of our time before this microwave. My husband and I have gone through exactly 2 microwaves in our 11 year relationship before landing on this one. Our first was a tiny thing made in 2004 that could barely manage cup o’ noodle. It finally died sounding like the cries of a thousand whales back in late 2017. It had a good long life of burnt popcorn and cold reheated food.We went without a microwave because we were dirt broke at the time from finally becoming homeowners (oof our savings), and then my in-laws graced us with their microwave that *they* had gotten as a wedding gift in Canada in.. 1988. I used to say that the microwave was almost as old as I was until we found the manufacturing date was April 1988. Dang, the microwave was now officially one month older than me. Still had to deal with uneven cooking, burnt popcorn or half popped bags, and a defrost function that only seemed to work half the time and literally cook the food the other half. This beast of a microwave is an enigma in the fact that it has somehow survived all these years without even needing anything replaced. Honestly the microwave still “works”. I can relate heavily to this microwave. After the last few years of me completely swearing off of trying to make microwave popcorn, my husband complaining about even more burnt popcorn and unpopped kernels at the same time, I finally asked if we could manage to scrape some money together to get an actual working microwave. After much debating, I was tasked with researching a good microwave that was big enough and mostly inexpensive enough. I had heard a bit about this microwave and a few others and ultimately decided on this one. The price was right, the size was perfect, the functionality was great, being able to turn off literally all the beeping was fantastic. Unfortunately the first one we got was mostly DOA and it was really disappointing, especially since I had to move a microwave that I’m sure weighed about 50lbs, I wish I was joking. Amazon took care of the return and replacement real easy and quick, and the new-new microwave came today. The first test was popcorn. Oh boy. Since everyone says “don’t use the popcorn button”, I definitely didn’t. Unfortunately the microwave did burn the bag of popcorn at full power. So, I decided to actually use the popcorn button. I hit the popcorn button twice (setting for a 3oz bag) just to make sure it would have enough time to heat up and pop. Oh boy. I was not prepared for what happened. The popcorn actually popped! And it only took maybe a minute and a half! No burnt popcorn *and* most of the kernels were popped. Our toddler rejoiced that mommy had actually popped a bag of popcorn, “Yay! You did it mommy!”Second, I defrosted a 1lb package of frozen ground beef. Woo, that was a breeze. Set the defrost for the weight and let it go, though it did warm the edges a bit too much but it was quick and didn’t cook it like our last microwaves.Third and most terrifying. Before this microwave, I had gotten used to putting a mug of coffee/tea/water/whatever to heat/reheat for a minute or more and it not even being hot-hot. I stuck a mug of water (with a few tapioca pearls in it) in the microwave to test and set it for one minute, after a short time I glanced into the microwave and discovered it was actually boiling. A very loud proclamation of “Oh my god!” rang from myself in the kitchen. I promptly called my husband over to also observe what the mug of water was doing. He also loudly proclaimed “Oh my god!”In short: I can’t believe what I used to consider “normal” for a microwave. This one is more than leaps and bounds better than what we “had to just deal with” in a time of penny pinching and saving money. We’re finally mostly comfortable and were in desperate need of a good quality microwave. In very short: I love this microwave.

Works Great, Very Quiet Compared to My OLD Microwave, Looks Great Too!

I just received this Microwave today. I am very happy with it so far. Keep in Mind this is day “one”.I have needed a new microwave for quite some time. This is the second one I ordered. The first one arrived with a big dent in the side, had to return it . I was very disappointed. I expected to receive a perfect microwave, I cut the box open, placed it on the counter , then OMG!!!, IT WAS DENTED. Take it from me never cut your box open until you know there is nothing wrong with the product. I had to pay UPS to pack the microwave for me . I was very upset about this so I called Amazon and they gave me a 13.00 credit for the cost packing the microwave. That made it ok!! Anyway I think this will be a great microwave for me and my hubby. I will update my review if anything bad happens, but I expect it to be a great product! Very pretty too! I had to wait an extra week or so to receive the new one, worth the waitWe have been using the microwave for several days now. Works great, love all the features. I purchased a plastic splatter cover for the microwave which was a great idea. Love my microwave. I cannot tell you how much better it is than my 15 year old microwave, ‘so happy’..

VERY NICE MICROWAVE – EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECTLY – GREAT ONE-TOUCH FEATAURES

With only a few minutes review of the well-written owner’s manual, I adapted to this nice microwave oven right away. The controls are easy to understand and intuitive. I especially like the one-touch functions for the most frequently used options. It has performed perfectly and arrived in perfect condition. I have an Alexa and have not used that particular feature yet – if it does not work, I will update this review later – assume all is OK. I have very limited countertop space – studio apartment – and the microwave fit nicely on my modular shelving.

Right Out of the Box the Light Does Not Work

My old microwave finally died after a little more than 4 years use. I had mixed feelings about it finally dying. On the one hand, I was not thrilled to have to buy a new one, but on the other hand, I loathed that microwave due to the buzzer which simply would not stop unless you went to it and opened the door. Otherwise, it would keep buzzing loudly for days, weeks, months. I HATED that microwave.Anyway, I looked at at least 50-60 different microwaves on-line and read tons of reviews. I did not find one microwave that had at least a 90% satisfaction rating across the board. I dreaded buying another one because of the cost involved but also because they no longe seem to last longer than about four years, and finally because none of them seemed well liked by at least 90% of buyers, but a microwave is pretty essential to my home, so eventually, I chose this Toshiba.First of all, the Amazon Prime delivery was late, and they plastered the shipping label over the box’s directions for how to best remove the microwave from the box. Luckily, I previously watched a YouTube video on this microwave, so I knew how best to unpack it—from the bottom. It took more than 15 minutes to unpack it and set it up. Then, I spent some time reading the entire operating manual. Lastly, I opened the door one last time to look inside (I did not plan to use it until the following day) and noticed the light did not come on. I verified that the light is supposed to come on once the door is opened. This is true of every microwave I have ever owned. The next day I used it, and the light did not come on even during use.Contacted Amazon trouble shooting, but the problem was not one that I could rectify. Now, I await a replacement to arrive three more days from now. Three days for a Prime member to receive a working microwave is a bit excessive. Many of my deliveries in the last year have been late–I would estimate at least 85%+ have been late. As for the microwave, it was very disheartening to receive a brand new microwave with something wrong with it right out of the box, especially at this price point.ETA: 08 October 21–the replacement arrived today after 7 p.m. I kept getting messages all day with the delivery time later and later. Finally, I saw the driver was two stops away, so I propped open my gate wide and waited in the yard. The delivery person was a nice young woman at least 30-35 years my junior, and she had a heck of a time carrying the box. She made it from her vehicle to my gate and had to put the box down for a minute or two to catch her breath and regain some strength. She then picked it up again and carried it to my porch whilst exclaiming “this thing is HEAVY!!!” I replied, it is a microwave. You can put it on the porch. She made it to the porch and more or less dropped it onto the cement porch from about 1.5 ft. up. I was so chagrined, but I said nothing.I brought it inside and spent another 15+ minutes unpacking it. First thing I noticed was there was no protective plastic covering over the number/display. They come from the factory with a plastic cover. This worried me. I immediately wondered if this was a refurbished microwave. I plugged it in and opened the door, and viola! The light worked! I was so relieved but not for long. I next tried to set the clock and discovered that the numerals 7, 8, and 9 on the keypad were dead. Now, I was very angry.I now have a replacement for the replacement on the way. It is supposed to be delivered between 4 and 8 a.m. Saturday morning (tomorrow)! I am not thrilled about this. I must remove the padlock from my gate before going to bed and leave my porch light on. I have had stuff stolen from my courtyard in the past, which is why I now padlock the gate, so I am not thrilled to leave the gate open, but the first one they delivered they just dropped over the gate and onto the concrete sidewalk on the other side. I do not know if it was that that ruined the light on the first one or not. This will be the third one now, and if there are any problems with it, it is going back, and I will buy from someone else. I now already have TWO that have to be boxed up and brought to the UPS store for return. They come with industrial size staples in the box that must be removed to remove the microwave from the box, and you cannot put them back in afterward, so all I can do is tape the boxes, and I am very worried the microwaves which are extremely heavy will simply fall through the boxes. This has been a miserable experience. I only hope that the third one will be BRAND NEW with no faults like no light or dead buttons. The old saying is very apt here….”they don’t make ’em like they used to.”ETA: 11 OCTOBER 21Well, I boxed up the third microwave (which by the way would have been the perfect one out of the three had not Amazon delivery people punctured the box with something big and sharp that went right through to the microwave cabinet inside and damaged it) early this morning and moved all three out to my porch for UPS pick up today. I was going to bring the first one to the UPS store myself, but by the time I had two and then three to go back, I decided they should pick up. Amazon told me over the weekend that UPS would pick up the next business day, i.e. today, Monday.I am worried about the stability of the boxes since the manufacturer’s instructions say to open the box from the bottom which means not only cutting through the tape but also removing two huge, thick industrial staples which cannot be put back into place once removed. I repacked all three microwave ovens with packing tape only, and given the weight of the microwaves, I am worried that at some point they might fall through the bottom, so I belled UPS early this morning to let them know about my concerns so that the driver and whoever else will handle the boxes will be mindful whilst handling them. I do not want anyone to get hurt. Well, the woman at UPS informed me that they did not receive any pick up requests from Amazon. She said she could send someone today to pick up, but I would have to pay for the pickup of each one. She recommended I contact Amazon. To say that I was furious would be a colossal understatement.I then belled Amazon and spoke with a nice young man. I was on the phone with him for a long, long time. I had to explain the entire story all over again. Thankfully, since I do not want to have these microwaves here for another 24+ hours, he made arrangements for UPS to pick up all three of the microwaves today by noon. He said he would bell me back at 3 p.m. to make sure UPS picked up. If UPS does not come to pick up these three huge boxes, I will be stuck with them until tomorrow–a dreadful thought. Amazon told me over the weekend to leave them on my porch for pick p today, but if I had done that, if I had not kept them indoors where they took up an enormous amount of floor space in my tiny living room, they would have been ruined last night as there was a massive thunderstorm that moved through last night. They would have been drenched. So, now I await UPS to collect these three microwaves today. Fingers crossed that they show up soon.If this whole fiasco had not been so sickening (and I do mean both actually physically and emotionally sickening–my blood pressure has been through the roof, and my neck and back ache from boxing and moving three bulky, heavy microwaves), this review read like a situation comedy script, but I assure you it has not been funny for me. Moreover, unbelievably, this is still not the end of the story. After I boxed up the third microwave this morning and before I belled UPS, I finally unboxed the fourth one. It arrived Sunday (yesterday) morning, and the box was in good shape, so I had high hopes for it. The light works. The number pad and clock work. It had not been harpooned by the delivery people like the third one had been. All seemed fine. Then, much to my chagrin, I realised that the door does not close properly. It closes, but the door sags downward by about 3/8ths of an inch. It is quite noticeable. I have no idea if this is harmful or not. Would microwaves escape from the oven whilst it is in use? Does this present and health and safety issue? I do not know what to do now. I think perhaps I will give myself a 1-2 week rest from all of this before I decide what to do next. So, to recap, I have had four of these microwaves delivered since last week:1. First microwave was fine except the light did not work. This was the only issue with the first microwave.Replacement one was ordered. This was definitely a manufacturing issue;2. Second microwave was missing the protective plastic covering over the control panel, and the 7, 8, and 9 numbers on the panel were dead. This was also a manufacturing issue that made me wonder if this microwave was potentially a refurbished unit. Second replacement ordered;3. Third microwave was absolutely beautiful and PERFECT! I could not have been more thrilled. Then I noticed the damage to the side of the door. It would have been perfect except that the delivery person allowed a large, sharp item of some sort to penetrate the box and go right through to the microwave and cause a big dent and scratch on door. Made me wonder if they had a harpoon in the delivery van. How could you do that sort of damage and not even notice it?! This was not a manufacturer issue. Third replacement ordered;4. Fourth microwave arrived in a clean, undamaged box. My hopes were very high again. Upon unboxing the fourth microwave I noticed that the door closes well enough, but it sags downward by about 3/8ths of an inch or more. I am unsure if this was a manufacturer issue or resulted from handling by the delivery people.I am too exhausted to pack up the fourth microwave today. I will have to deal with it in a few days after my body and mind recover a bit. The upshot is that this has been a miserable experience, and whist the first two microwaves had manufacturing defects, Amazon is to blame for the third and probably the fourth microwave. I believe if the packages had been handled with a lot more care, then the third one would have been perfect, and there would have been no need for a fourth one to be sent out.I like the microwave. It is an attractive unit that looks quite classy on the kitchen countertop. It is quiet. It is plenty powerful enough. It cooks a baked potato in about half the time of my old 900 watt microwave for example. I absolutely LOVE the option to mute the buzzer–this was THE deciding factor that made me choose this microwave over all others. I believe if you could get a new one delivered with care, you would likely be very pleased with this microwave. However, I would recommend you purchase the microwave at a local store where you could see what you will get before you pay for it and take it home. There could be manufacturing problems, but at least delivery problems would be obviated. I truly do love Amazon, but I cannot recommend anyone buy appliances from them.Amazon should hold these delivery people to account. ANY box that is handed over to the driver in good condition and arrives at its destination with a huge hole in it should be the financial responsibility of the driver because s/he has been negligent in handling the package. If the delivery people were made financially responsible, then I am certain there would be far, far fewer packages arriving in poor condition.

    Love it!

It has so many functions that it’s a little hard to figure out how to use them all! The microwave seems a little weak, but the air fryer is fantastic. Haven’t used grill function yet. I love this microwave/air fryer/griller/more and highly recommend it.

    Glad I bought this one.

I decided to wait a few months to list my experience and offer insight to anyone else looking to purchase a microwave-air fryer combo. After the ordeal of purchasing a microwave-air fryer combo unit (The first choice, a different brand (GE), was damaged in transit and never arrived; a Toshiba unit purchased “Used, Like New” arrived frivolously packed, with massive dents on both sides (like someone hit it with a sledgehammer), I finally bit the bullet and purchased a brand-new Toshiba unit.It took some getting used to: When the unit is activated, whether microwave or air frying, it makes a loud sound before getting tolerable. It also takes a little getting used to the dial that’s used for setting the time/temp/power, but that’s no big deal. While it technically is an air fryer, most air fryer fans are on top, so the airflow is not exactly the same. That said, it’s become a workhorse in my kitchen. I use it every day and I’m always looking for new things to air-fry.There are a few things I bought after purchasing this unit that I can’t live without:A Pizza Baking Screen (12 inches)An Air Fryer Rack (Yes, it comes with a rack, but for pizza and some other foods it’s better not to be too close to the heating element.)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09NJH4VTX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1An Oil Sprayer (many foods being air-fried need a spray of the oil of your choice – I use olive oil)Hot Plate Gripper Clips (These will make taking the air fryer pan out infinitely easier, and you won’t need mitts)Half Oven Mitts (I use silicone ones. Big difference from trying to get full-size mitts into the space.)Cooking:The Toshiba unit makes great Chicken Wings/Nuggets/Tenders. I also discovered that it makes incredibly tender pork chops, but it makes fantastic French fries – just spray them with some olive oil first. I spread them out on the pizza screen and use the lower air fryer rack (I recommend McCain’s Beer Batter Dipped Fries and Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Fries). I’ve also become addicted to Aldi’s Pork Egg Rolls.Cleaning:This is where it gets tricky, because the fan is in the back of the unit, behind holes in the oven, so you don’t want to use anything that can get inside of it. After trying a lot of things recommended on YouTube, I ended up using a steel wool pad and Dawn Spray, just don’t go near the deflector pad on the right side.Notes: The box it comes in is labeled “Heavy”, but should also be labeled “Unbalanced”, as most of the weight is in the back of the unit, and it’s easy to misjudge how it should be lifted. Proceed with caution.

    Favorite Microwave Ever

I’ve had microwaves since the mid 80s, so I’ve had more than a dozen of them through the years. I have to say, this is my favorite one I’ve ever used! The popcorn button ACTUALLY works. My popcorn doesn’t burn unless it’s one of the flavored ones, like a particular brand of spicy popcorn my son likes. Takes less than 2 minutes to pop a full-sized bag. Amazing! The light inside is bright and I can actually see my food, unlike older microwaves that almost seemed like they had no light. The turntable never sticks or gets off track like some other models I’ve had.My food gets hot very quickly. My previous microwave was close to the wattage of this one, but took a bit longer to heat something like a can of soup. This is the QUIETEST microwave I’ve ever personally used. The hum is barely audible in my house. It’s very easy to use. I LOVE the fact that it lets me add time even to presets. My previous microwave would not, so if I could tell my popcorn wasn’t done, I had to wait until the cycle ended, open the door, close it again, THEN press start for 30 more seconds. Not so with this one. I can press start while the popcorn is popping to add more time if it seems like it won’t be enough. It’s also a nice looking microwave. I’m very pleased with the appearance.I’m sure I could think of more pros, but I can’t think of any cons right now. I’ve only had it a few days, but so far I have no complaints at all!

    Confusing for old people

Got this for my grandparents in their 80s. There’s no buttons with numbers so they are very confused. To take out of the box and just use was slightly difficult even for me I had to look in the book because you have to turn the knob counter clockwise then immediately clockwise to get it to show a time for cooking. Other than that it looks quality but I feel like this is for the tech savvy. I’m afraid my grandparents are going to air fry their soup and microwave something metal

    12″ pizza my aunt Fanny

What it does do-air fry, if it fits it the 10″ pan-bake, if it fits in the 10″ pan-make for a challenge to remove anything baked or air fried without burning yourselfwhat it does not do-bake unless it fits on the stand-a 12″ pizza, there is NO heat from the bottom, and the only place a 12″ pizza fits is on the turntable. The top cooks and the dough will be raw. (Update, baking on the rack on the pics actually does work. I suspect the 12 pizza screen I ordered will sit nicely on my new rack)I actually cook in my old convection oven, rarely using the range. If you are looking for something to actually bake in, this isn’t it.If you want a microwave that will also convection bake/air fry things that fit in a 10″ pan, this is for you. If you want an appliance that will microwave and bake a 2 layer cake, this isn’t it.7/22/23 – while I stand by my comments, I did decide to keep both this and my Oster convection oven, this is a significant upgrade to my old microwave. It does automatically preheat, and as long as I remember to pull out the aftermarket rack, it’s convenient for small things. The cheap aftermarket steamer racks work far better than the supplied bent coat hanger contraption.Correct me if I’m wrong, but the difference between bake and air fry is when using bake the fan cycles. In that I prefer convection, I’ll ‘air fry’ going forward.7/30/23-added a star. while this isn’t what I was led to believe it was, I do use it. But my god, I have NEVER heard such a noisy microwave. I haven’t tried using the microwave after bake or air fryer. I try to plan ahead as microwave after oven is a burn waiting to happen. With the correct crap from Amazon, you’d be amazed at what fits on a round platform. The noise from the microwave is almost unbearable. An inverter version for more money would be worth it.2023.11.13 I find I don’t use it much anymore. The few things it is good at does not justify the effort to clean it. I assume stainless would be easier to clean I was wrong. The inside of my Oster must be some special paint or something cuz it’s a whole lot easier to clean then stainless, and there’s no glass plate with the air blowing all of that grease underneath it in the Oster either.

Perfect size for family or individual usage. It’s multifunction saves space. Very simple to use on any function, simple to set on a function which allows me to feel confident to use regardless what I want to use it for. The direction booklet has pictures and is very clear and easy to follow for the English language. Easy clean up. Neat and tidy for any counter or shelf. Fairly light weight. Love the chrome and black so it blends well with black or chrome kitchen appliances. Everything works as it should and is used daily in our camper.

The microwave works well heating however it does make a noise not what I expected from this company, so I inspecting it and noticed the ring the glass turntable sits on is the issue it actually stops moving then moves again making the rumbling grinding noise, it’s to bad because the microwave other than that is nice

Don’t get a cheap microwave because it will come back to haunt you – get this one and never think about it again.

Energy Saver Mode watt test and info–

I just got it up and running as my Panasonic gave up the ghost after 5 years. This is the same size, power, basic operations. Everything works and looks good so far.Regarding the energy saver mode– as the manual gives no info as to what it actually is I plugged it into a Kill A Watt tester to measure what the ESM actually does.In standby mode the unit draws .7 watt.In esm mode the unit draws .4 watt. What does esm actually do? IApparently it shuts off the LED of the current time.If the door is opened the unit will default back to regular standby mode and the LED current time will reappear. How much money is saved by the .3 watt difference between normal and ESM mode?My cost for electricity is .275 kwh and using an online electricity usage calculator the difference in cost per year is:Regular standby mode: $1.69ESM mode: .72 centsSo the cost of having a lit clock in the kitchen is .97 per year.Unfortunately if someone wanted to save the .97 and prevent the ecological damage thusly caused, they would have to turn back on the ESM mode every time they opened the door.In my opinion this ESM mode is unadulterated advertising hype and is used to dupe customers who don’t bother measuring the actual effect of this “feature”.If there is anything else that I am overlooking regarding ESM saving money or electricity I would like to know. Logically, it can’t be cutting power during usage because that would impact the proper cooking of the food. For this reason only I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 at this time. I hope this info is of use to someone.

    So far–is a great unit

I’ve used the Microwave and Air-Fryer so far, and really like it. I’m looking forward to trying the other cooking options as well. And it’s the perfect size to set atop my small refrigerator. I also like the ability to turn OFF the panel light at night since the unit is in my bedroom.

    Great microwave…But…

By far this is a great microwave.Progreat lookEven heatingCan actually defrost (instead of cooking half while the other half is still frozen)Easy to useConSmall displayOnly 3 fast setting buttons. (My old one had 6)Pressing the buttons is…odd. It’s like the activation area is super small. I find myself hitting a button 4-5 times before it works.I also like the feature to turn off the display after use.

    Works really well

Took a bit of time to get used to the new micro controls but once I got it all is well. Popcorn function is great. No back lighting for the controls so I have to turn on the lights to see them. Still good value for the money and I like Toshiba products.

    So far so good

I have a small kitchen so I have been looking for ways to save counter top space. I recognize that most product capable of doing multiple things are not going to be perfect. This product does what is supposed to do very well in a space saving unit. This is exactly what we were looking for.

    Good

Great microwave/etc. with many features and settings. The biggest con is the rattle noise it makes followed by the lack of 5 second increments after a lot of dialing to set up longer cook times.
