May not grow if you don’t follow directions step by step

There are alot of seeds in the packet. There are also a set of directions on how to grow the seeds on the packet. I dug a hole and put the seeds in the hole. Then, I covered up the hole with soil. Nothing grew. Someone else may have better luck getting the seeds to grow.

They are great seeds and good quality

It’s only been day three and they have already started to sprout. I honestly prefer you guys to not use the fridge method because it take much longer to stratify the seeds but you do what you wish. I have a slight feeling that these seeds might be GMO because they usually take 18-20 days to start sprouting but if they genuinely are not GMO then the quality of the seeds from this brand are amazing 100% recommend.

Buy milkweed plants at the nursery instead

This is my second round of trying to grow milkweeds from seeds. I have had more success getting them to sprout when I keep them in the refrigerator longer than the instructions say. I grow these in seedling cups on the windowsill. Water twice per day. That said, I still have yet to get any of them to grow outside after transferring them from the windowsill. Save yourself a lot of time and buy milk weed at the nursery. For a weed, they are notoriously hard to grow

    Very pleased with the product

Planning to plant in my garden to attract monarch butterflies. Looking forward to raising a bunch! We have the local milkweed but I wanted something more colorful. Thank you for providing!

Want to save monarch butterflies? This is the best way to do it!

I was looking for these seeds, as they will attract butterflies like the monarch. I found this kit that, while not the cheapest, looked like the best deal for quality seeds that would do what I want. I have not yet planted them, but am hoping for plentiful plants, and butterflies, this summer! Happy w/purchase so far!

    A Late Start

I appreciate the detailed instructions. It warns of the difficulty in growing the milkweed plant. Hopefully, If I follow the instructions carefully, I will see some green shoots in a few weeks. Wish I had gotten an earlier start.

Long germination period but stick with them

I’ve had about 50% germination rate which I think is fine, but they require two or three weeks in a moist paper towel to get there. Germinate, plant and help the monarchs!

    Ok

I ordered these for the butterflies we have coming around. So far only a few of them have grown out of about 50. They are very slow to grow too. I dod the stratification process in the fridge.

    REFRIGERATE for 2-4 weeks

I want to be as fair as possible… Price was great, great gift idea, and maybe they do grow… Mine did not. I’m usually good at milkweed. I grow it for the monarchs in my backyard that I house when they are caterpillars and then I release them.

    “Notoriously slow to germinate”

The planting instructions on the packet say, “Notoriously slow to germinate” and go on to describe a six-week process leading up to planting them outside. How can a “weed” be so hard to grow? I just sprinkled the seeds on some loosened earth and watered. They are on their own now.

    Be patient.

I followed the instructions on the package and stratified the seeds in the refrigerator starting March 15. Here’s where they are on May 20. They germinated well, but they are growing very slowly. Clearly patience and some attention are required. I hope many of these little seedlings grow strong and survive in the ground.

    Monarch Butterfly Support

These seeds germinated both while stratifying in the refrigerator and the rest afterwards in perlite. After germination, I placed them into peat pots with seed starter on top of potting soil where they have thrived. I haven’t planted them outside yet, but the seedlings are doing well so far in the acclimation process. Looking forward to having plants and flowers for the butterflies!!!Had 98% seed germination!!

    Food for monarchs

This is a nice gift to enclose in a card for your favorite Gardner. The seeds should be planted in the fall to winter over in freezing temperatures. Or you can also put the seeds in the freezer nform three months then plant in the spring. This is a good gift to give to those you want to think more ecology minded to save the Monarch Butterfly and other pollinators such as bees.

I read the reviews saying their seeds did not sprout. Every seed I planted sprouted. I placed in a Peat pellet and kept moist and partially covered. It acted like a greenhouse. It took a good 5 days to sprout. Enjoy !

    Most sprouted…buying again

After reading many reviews, combined with my impatience, I took some shortcuts. They were in my fridge for a week.Next, I put them to soak in very warm water for about 6 hours. Finally, I sprinkled them on soil in a plastic container, covered it, and put it in a warm place (near a heat vent). Most of them sprouted within a week, some just a few days.Ordering again.
