Great Samsung Android tablet
I had been looking around for quite some time for an Android tablet of this size and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 8.7 2023 ticked all the boxes. I mainly chose this tablet because of its size and decent specifications. Apart from being a backup for my main tablet I have also downloaded all my photographs and music collections but most of all I am using it as an e-reader for my book collections. So that together with emails and social media files I have everything to hand. This is the first Samsung tablet that I have owned and it certainly won’t be the last. Transferring files to it was a breaze and ran very smoothly without a single problem. I chose the tablet with 128gb of storage and with the Graphite colour. It’s certainly great for travel purposes being light in weight and compact. The screen resolution is quite good and the sound reproduction has not been compromised with two speakers. The front and rear cameras have 8mp and 2mp respectively and are suffient for my requirements. So far the battery life has lived up to expectations. The only slight niggle, so petty that I did not knock a star off, is that the provided cable is USB C to USB C and an adapter was not provided. I consider that it has been retailed at a reasonable price and I hope to have many years of use from it.

The iPad mini alternative
Let’s be honest, there aren’t any real competitors to the iPad Mini. Fire HD 8, Lenovo M8/M9 and the new Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 are the only cheaper Android-based alternatives. Still, I chose the A9 and it is decent for streaming and internet usage.Pros:-Wonderful size. Very lightweight.-Decent Helio G99 chip. Allows for comfortable browsing-Good battery-Streaming quality is good despite not being full HDCons:-Low resolution is noticeable particularly when you switch back and forth from your phone-Screen colours are slightly washed out however after a few minutes, your eyes will adjust (until you look at your phone again)I have not used it for gaming and don’t intend to although it’s supposed to perform decently.Overall it’s a great device to use alongside your main tablet/phone. Just don’t expect to do any editing/compiling on it.

Samsung tab A9 Plus great tablet
The media could not be loaded.
The Samsung Galaxy tab A9 plus is a grea tablet, very easy to use and good enough storage with extra with a sim for storage. The apps on the android system work well, you can sink your mobile to te tablet to transfer everything, it has a built in anti virus to protect you. But I still have Avg incase and deactivate VPN when watcging TV channel apps, the camera isn’t too bad for what i need. Maybe a bigger tablet would be good but this does great for what I need, you have Dex that turns it into a laptop with compatible Keyboard case. The price is great for what you get with this tablet.

Very good mid-range tablet, but marked down for delivery inconvenience
If you’re looking for a tablet that isn’t too expensive, but still decent quality and powerful enough for just about anything you could want to use a tablet for, that is exactly what you get with the Tab A9. It is a case of everything is good, rather than excellent, but for excellent you need to pay a lot more. For £209, it’s a bargain, and is one of the few tablets that isn’t of an inconveniently large size – many tablet makers seem to think that bigger is always better, forgetting that one of the advantages of tablets over laptops or even desktop PCs is portability. This, having an 8.7″ screen, is small enough for me to simply slip into my jacket pocket, rather than having to start carrying around a bag purely to have something to put my tablet into. However, as this is a review on Amazon, I do have to mark it down due to an issue that came up due to this being purchased through Amazon. Amazon, in their wisdom, have decided to implement a new ‘security’ procedure for anything over a certain amount of money. There is zero indication of this at ordering time, and it is the sudden inclusion of requiring a one-time password being given to the delivery driver. The only notification of this was an e-mail sent to me the day before the item was due to be delivered, which did not actually give said password. This password was only supplied by an e-mail on the same day as the delivery, which was useless, given that this meant that this arrived when I was at work. Without this ‘security’ arrangement, there would have been zero issue, as there was someone else available to receive the package – but they could not, as they did not have this password.I am also struggling to understand the rationale for this ‘security’ arrangement, as the only positive effect it would seem to have is guard against their delivery drivers being sufficiently incompetent as to attempt delivery at the wrong address, which is an issue that shouldn’t be a significant one, and, if it is, they should be solving via better training for their drivers. However, the negative effects seem to be that any driver that is of a mind to actually steal from packages will now know which packages to target, and will simply insist on getting the password before handing over the stolen-from package, and this password being supplied will be ‘proof’ that it was actually delivered. There is also the very issue I ran into – it being more difficult and inconvenient to actually arrange for a package to be delivered. This actually makes me more hesitant to attempt this from Amazon in the future. So, in summary, excellent product, but, if I had been aware of Amazon’s new ‘security’ policy, I would have bought elsewhere.

Not perfect, but a decent upgrade from an A7 Lite
I was beginning to despair that no-one was making smaller tablets anymore (apart from Amazon with their Fire tablets). Having initially bought a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite to replace an aging Huawei MediaPad M5 8.4″, I was initially disappointed with the poorer screen resolution and sound quality in comparison. The only thing the A7 Lite had over the MediaPad was a later version of Android! However, although the screen specs for the A9 show no improvement over the A7 Lite, I decided to give it a shot anyway given the newer processor, greater RAM (I went for the 8GB version) and more storage (128GB in this case). And I am glad that I did as it is far more responsive than the A7 Lite and, despite the screen specs being the same, it does seem brighter with stronger colours. The sound quality is slightly better, too. Overall, then, whilst not perfect (they could have improved the screen resolution as 800 x 1340 seems a bit low nowadays, hence the loss of a star in my overall rating), it is nevertheless a worthy successor to the A7 Lite and represents good value for money.

EXCELENT!
jusst what I needed – I used to have a very overspecified big, expensive and heavy samsung tablet – I hardly used it, as I struggled to hold it up in one hand, and lugging it around took some effort – this on the other hand is 1/4 of the price, and less than 1/3 of the weight – performance hardly less. Its just what a tablet should be – handly, portable and attractive to use. I was vaccilating over an apple mini but very happy to save 3/4 of the price and get an android rather than apple environment – Highly recommmended
