AN IDEAS LAB

It’s 1948: a small Florentine laboratory is experimenting on formulas that work, studying new products.     Excellent After Shave Balm

    I am a long time DE Safety Razor user and use many different products. Proraso, in general, produce reasonably priced products that perform well. I have other products I use, but the Proraso Balm is a go-to, excellent product. I use it after applying Proraso after shave lotion. The Balm is ever so subtly fragrant and pairs well with the Proraso lotion. The product feel after it dries is wonderful and long lasting. Proraso is a long time shaving product producer, and like ever other Proraso product I’ve tried, the Balm does not fail to impress. Did I mention reasonably priced compared to most other products?

    Wonderful scent !

    I have been using this aftershave for some years now and it never disappoints. I love the smell and the feel and the moisturizing effect it has on my skin. If I have any nicks, this lotion takes care of it and stops it immediately after putting on. The formula has not changed over the years and I will continue buying it. It holds its moisturizing all day.

    One of the best

    I’ve been using this since i first started using a straight razor about 15 years ago. Love that it only takes as much as your skin is dry after a shave, some bay rum is great in the summer maybe, but this takes first place in the winter. It soaks in nice with a great scent that isn’t too strong.

    I’ve been using Proraso products for years and they are simply the best. Scent, feel, shave…everything is just better. Seriously, do yourself a favor and give one of these a try. There are many versions, so you are likely to find one to your liking. Expensive…but worth it.

    Product was spilled

    I opened the item which the package was damp. The contents of the product were spilled everywhere and 1/3 of it was gone after clean up. Product its self was nice and had a nice smell.

    Great Scent

    Finally Proraso comes out with a balm in this scent! Works great for pre and post shave moisturizer. Matches well with the aftershave, soap, and cream for coarse facial hair.

    It’s got quite a fresh talcum powder type smell, it smells almost fluffy if I could put words against the smell. I think I like it, so would recommend.

    Expected a sandalwood scent, maybe a little bit sweet with the almond, instead it smells like baby powder/old church ladies. I used it once and it’s like I put on my grandmothers perfume, I have to return it

    I was hoping the scent would match my Proraso Sandalwood scent shave cream (which has a better scent). It is a good moisturizer though.

    Was hoping and expecting some nice soothing sandlewood balmI got some bottled smell from a 1950s care home…is absolutely awful….and lo n behold..no returns….don’t be foed…avoid

    Leaves a nice scent and moisturizes.

    This balm leaves a really nice scent(not overpowering) and mitigates the road rash your razor leaves behind. It will sting a bit on initial application but guess what- Nothing is painless in life and considering you just drug a sharp instrument across your cheeks(The ones your face for most of you!) and you survived, this is nothing. Over all, it smells good and leaves your face feeling great. Now go and get rid of that ugly neckbeard!

    wo bleibt die Pflegewirkung?

    Habe die Rasierseifen von Proraso (die sind genial) und dachte mir, dass man mit dem Balm nichts falsch machen kann… Leider eine Fehleinschätzung 🙁 Pflegewirkung geht gegen Null und der Geruch ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Sorry Proraso, aber da können günstigere Produkte definitiv mehr.

    This smells so good ! I wish the wash & beard oil came in the same scent.it’s a soft sandalwood smell. You can smell it from a few inches away but it’s a light pleasant scent. Great to invite cuddling!

    Ursprünglich suchte ich eine Abwechslung zu meinem langweiligen Nivea-Kram, der irgendwie nach NICHTS riecht. Nun, das habe ich bekommen. Jetzt rieche ich wie ein alter Mann unter den Achseln. Vielleicht liegt das auch daran, daß ich ein alter Mann bin. Man weiß es nicht…Fazit: ja, geht. Im Zweifel mehr Geld ausgeben.

    Ich habe alles probiert, Rasiercreme, Rasierseife, Rasier Aftershave und Rasier Balsam. Alles aus der Roten Serie spricht mich zu 100% an, nur nicht das Balsam. Die Qualität stimmt, aber der Geruch nicht, der gefällt mir nicht, denn er passt nicht in die Serie meiner Meinung nach. Ich werde es nicht mehr kaufen und das Aftershave nutzen, auch wenn ich generell lieber Balsam mag.

    Feels great on skin, smell isn’t great

    The effects of this balm are excellent: cooling, soothing, and moisturizing. It’s very pleasant going on, and it definitely makes one skin feel better after a shave. The scent is…not as great. It isn’t terrible, but it’s a sweet, flowery, high-note, almost feminine sort of smell, and a product described as “sandalwood” should have a richer, earthier scent. I realize that a bottle of reasonably priced after shave like this is going to be “sandalwood scented,” not actually scented by sandalwood oil–it would be far too expensive given the price of this product to use even the least expensive varieties of sandalwood essential oil as the main fragrance ingredient–but again, putting “sandalwood” on the label provides expectations of at the general idea of how it should smell, and it’s not close to what I expected. It’s not an outright unpleasant scent, but I wouldn’t want something to smell of citrus if the label that said it had rich, musky scent. Smells are highly subjective and not easy to describe in words, but I’m sure most people would agree that this isn’t a sandalwood smell. And I’m sure some people would love it, but I do not. I will say that the scent is long-lasting, but after a couple hours, all the subtlety of the scent is gone and the only thing my nose picks up is a cloying sweetness. This is my first experience with Proraso aftershave and I’ve very much liked all their other products (the pre-shave cream especially is fantastic), so I will definitely try another variety of their aftershave.

    It’s About Time

    I’ve had the blue, green and white Proraso balms for several years. I love the green and white but couldn’t deal with the scent of the blue. I really enjoy the performance of the blue shaving cream and ironically I enjoy the scent as well. Go figure. I love the red shaving cream tube and have always wondered why they didn’t make the red balm. The sandalwood scent of the shaving cream it wonderful. Well, they finally did it and I bought a bottle. The scent is intoxicating and really leaves my face feeling moisturized and soft. I highly recommend this balm for your collection. It’s about time Proraso!

    Nix Sandelholz Geruch!

    Ich habe die Rasierseife von Proraso Red. Herrlicher Duft und pflegt schon beim Rasieren. Super!!!Aber das Balsam hier, stinkt! Undefinierbarer Geruch.Kein Vergleich zur Rasierseife.Es wird wohl ein bisschen pflegen, aber mein Nivea Balsam ist dort spürbar viel besser. Beim Nivea Balsam, ist die Haut schön glatt und geschmeidig. Bei Proraso Stumpf.Nicht zu empfehlen. Schade
