great customer service
Got my first pair with enclosed card that indicated are and who to call if any problems. Since a screw kept coming loose after only using a couple times I called, got someone immediately who had a new pair in the mail and delivered the next day! No returns required or additional payment. I can’t recommend this company enough. Time will tell if the product holds up but so far so good, they look and handle beautifully. Thanks!!!!

It does 90% of what it says it can do
I bought this to cut back my rosebuds bigger limbs. And I made sure that I bought this. This is 3/4 s inch and it would fit the limbs of my rosebush and I had a lot of trouble cutting through those and kind of surprised me even on some smaller limbs that it took a little bit more force. I was expecting these to work alittle especially on limbs that are 1/4 – 1/2 inches work better i had to go and some biggera ones numerous time and trying to cut my rose bush clearing some limbs that were dead and rose bush waa already 2 1/2 months into blooming so had move some to get the dead that it didnt cut all the way and having to constantly keeping gripping over and over while I am holding limbs to cut some have throns catching on my hair not arms or hand I have some really good gloves so once cut back the dead and clean real well around the roots cause it effects the bush I mean. They work well, but for anything kind between 1/4 – 1/2 inch and no bigger they be way easier and not so labors

I Love These Pruners!
I’ve just received these great pruners as a surprise from my husband. It’s such a big deal for me as I have damaged hands from rheumatoid arthritis. I have been trying to work outside with an inexpensive set of garden snips – the handles constantly sliding off and the spring hinge flying through the air! The old ones went in the garbage can as soon as I field-tested the new set. They are so comfortable to grip and very easy to compress. The sharp blades make clean accurate cuts on flower stalks and woody stems. Thanks for a great product!

Best Pruning Shear I’ve used.
After using these pruning shears the first time, I threw out the old one I bought years ago from a brick and mortar store with a small selection, that never, even when new, made the job easy.I also like the feature that allows me to remove the cutting edge to sharpen or replace it. The other one didn’t have that, and was never easy to open.

Comfortable and Easy to Use
This made pruning my garden easy. The handle is very comfortable. Many pruners cause my thumb to hurt. This one has a comfort grip preventing any pain in my hand. It cut the plants very quickly and easily. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

Not for people with smaller hands
Update: Seller contacted me to help make my order right, but I had already returned the item by the time I found their note. It appears good customer service is important to this seller, and I would add that as a positive reason to buy from them.~~~~~~~~~~~Original Summary: I had to return these shears because my hands are smaller, but they may be helpful to people with larger hands. My hand is smaller, approx. 8″ from end of thumb to end of pinky finger when fingers are spread, and a tape measure is run between those two points. It was too hard to keep the shears in optimal cutting position as I tried to do multiple rapid cuts throughout a bush. I found it kept choking down (fingers headed to the blade end, but not in danger of cutting myself), and I had to stop, reposition, and try again too frequently to keep using it. Additionally, I had some trouble cutting through some dead, hardwood branches less than 3/4″ thick one-handed.Pros:- This tool looks nice and feels good in the hand when compressed (good weight balance).- Workmanship is good (see one flaw below); it felt solid- The lock mechanism worked perfectly to keep the tool closed when not in use; didn’t block operation when in use.Cons (rated as critical, important, or other):- Didn’t work for my hand size (critical)- One of the foam-like handle cushions looked like it was in the process of sliding off, and wouldn’t slide back up the handle; this was my least worrisome issue, and if it worked for me wouldn’t have returned it just because of this imperfection. Clean quick cut. I’ve been using tin snips and kitchen scissors to cut flower stems😂Only cause every shop I went to would be selling a pair that looked cheap but costed ridiculously more than what I got these for.My rule is that something has to at least look its price. This product from RYP looks AND performs above its price. Thank you, Brad and Jane!

Good shears for the money.
Work Great, they’re in my tool belt everyday I’m in the garden. Need to tighten the screw every once in a while other wise they won’t cut properly but the blade seems to be holding up. I sharpen a couple times a week . Lots of pruning over here!

Ease of use
These are exactly what i needed! Like many others I previously bought on the cheap only to have them dull before even 1/2 of season was done .Upon reading the reviews I purchased them and received them in record time and well packed with the bubble pillows. I was able to finish up the garden project in less than 1/2 time usual time. They fit hand very well and you dont need a crossfit degree to squeeze them ,There is one thing i must mention to be fair to you- you must keep watch on the screw it loosens up but i find that isn’t a major flaw just remember to check it

I expected better, but they are okay
I still have to use them with both hands to get anything thick cut. They do seem rather sharp, and eventually they will cut anything about half an inch. They are not too small. I say worth it for the price.

Great Shears
I’ve been using these all over my garden and yard and they work great! If they don’t cut well the I recommend checking the screw. Mine became lose, but after tightening it, it went back to cutting. The one thing this can’t cut is a branch that is 1″ and really thin plants. Like grass thin. Overall, though it has worked for my intentions and I love it.

Love the cushiony handles and the blades are nice and sharp, and these come with a whetstone that I appreciated, even though I haven’t needed to use it yet.I would have given is a 5, but for my small hands, they are a bit difficult to use. It would be great to have a choice of a smaller size.Good product for the money.

A PHENOMENAL VALUE!!
5+ STARS! The unboxing held a unusually personal, thank-you cd., complete with a phone number for inquiries- nice touch. The blades look like a work of art, instead of a garden trimmer. There was hand oiling in all the right places. The attention to detail & quality on this item is rare. I spent 30+ yrs. as a professional hair stylist, & paid $300-$700 for a precision, quality, blade on a pair of hair shears. I can recognize a quality blade when I see one.I kind’of hate to use them, they’re so nice. But use them I will, with care and appreciation. I won’t be leaving these in the weather to take a beating like I’ve done with some of them in the past. I’ve had at least a dozen, but this clipper different, & is very nice. The price point is amazing for the value! Order 2- a GREAT holiday gift for a gardener.

“Like New” Is A Little Banged Up
I was so excited to get these pruners (and still am), but the condition they came in is a little disappointing. The blade looks like someone tried to cut metal with them, so I’ve got quite a bit of sharpening to do. There are quite a bit of stuff marks around the blade as well. The handle is in great condition, though. Overall great product, but I don’t think they should have been listed as “like new” with the extent of damage to the blades themselves.

Substantial feeling
These shears scream quality looking at them in the package. They are easy to unlock and feel substantial in your hand. Today I cut a thick asiatic lily stem and shears cut through the stem with ease. I’ve just received these so have not had a chance to use them for any length of time, however, I did note that in the open position the handles appear to be widely spaced for my smaller hands. A nice touch is a card inside the package with a phone # if there is a problem. I hope that these shears continue to perform for many years.

😞 Very sharp, but lost locking screw after one week!
These pruning shears worked great–for the first week. The shears are incredibly sharp and easy to use. However, after one week of heavy use I realized that I had lost the screw that locks them shut after use. I can still cut, but cannot close them, which I would obviously prefer for safety reasons. Was expecting them to last longer!

Works well
The tip is very sharp when open I have jabbed myself with it by accident so keep it closed until you need to snip. It almost poked my dog’s nose too. All my fault, I’m not used to a tip that is so sharp it could split the earth in two so I’m gonna grind off the tip lol works well though just used on pruning a peach tree

Purchase for one season, if you are satisfied with it.
In two months, this tool has turned into garbage. And this is after cutting a light shrub and thin branches of fruit and berry trees. The protection of the handles is constantly falling off, which is very inconvenient. Blade replacement is required.Continued: I have contacted customer support regarding this issue. The level of service I received exceeded my expectations, and it is obvious that the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction is a priority. In a world where exceptional service is often rare, the dedication of the company’s team really stands out. I want to commend customer support for excellent communication skills and the genuine care you demonstrated throughout the process. Your assistance not only resolved my issue but also left a lasting positive impression on me. Thank you.

Lock engages while using…
I love these pruners, but the design of the safety lock is flawed. After using for a while, the plastic “lock” slips back and closes the pruners. I find myself stopping to unlock them constantly. Normally this kind of issue could be fixed by tightening the lock, but this pruner doesn’t have a tightening mechanism.

Pretty solid bypass printer
I was looking for a new pair and saw these and thought I would give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised at how will they worked. Super sharp.I pruned various plants and it cut very easily. Most impressive was cutting 3/4″ crepe myrtle branch and it handled that without to much strain. Those are very hard wood.Only doubt it’s how long the handle cushions will last, but I think if you don’t leave them out in the sun and weather, they will be fine.I don’t think you will be disappointed.

These have a foamy grip, are easy to squeeze, and very sharp. I had no problem cutting small branches the size of my little finger. I don’t use them often so can’t comment on durability other than they seem well built. I would recommend.

Quality construction, but since it is not geared, made for lightweight work, like a scissors.
Pros: quality constructed, Cons: not geared, not that sharp. it will cut 1/4″ thick dead twigs/branches, but beyond that, not sharp, not that useful. A little better than a scissors, but not that much. A bit dissappointed, should have ordered the geared version.Edit: I returned this and got their geared version. The geared version is more cheaply made and not nearly as well constructed. Yet it cut through branches this one couldnt. Bottom line – if you want a well constructed pruning shears that is meant for light garden work, get this. Otherwise get the geared version.Edit2: Discovered that amvil shears are not for pruning live branches but bypass shears are – they cut like scissors. So when the manufacturer offered to send me a free replacement, I took them up on the offer. The replacement is sharp – night and day difference between the replacement and the first one. I think the first one was sent out unsharpened because it could not cut anything. I would recommend the ones I received as a replacement and bumped up the rating by a star. I would note that unlike many Chinese suppliers, these company did not try to bribe me or flood me with emails asking me to change my review. They did the right thing the right way.

The right tool for the job
Although the shears have not passed the test of time, I found that they performed well brand new right out of the package. The blade is honed sharp as a razor. In the fully opened position it is an easy squeeze to get a clean cut through thick branches. Soft tubular foam slipped over the handles offers a comfortable grip. Too early to tell if padding will wear away with use. Locking mechanism is a bit tight. A person with limited finger strength may find locking the blades closed challenging. It may get easier with future use.

Really Great Product
These Pruning Shears are so easy to use and very comfortable to hold I might add. Very pleased with the owners who have taken the time to enclose a Thank You card for my purchasing their product along with a small message along with their family picture inside the card. I have purchased a second pair of Shears for my daughter’s use because I am so pleased with the owners as well as the product. It is a shame that more companies do not take the time to let their customers know that they really appreciate them!

Great shears from a US company
I bought these pruning shears earlier this year, and have used them for a full growing season. My experience with them has been excellent. I highly recommend them!General comments…They are nice looking (not a critical matter for me, but it doesn’t hurt). The large blade is a gold color which has worn a bit on the cutting edge from use, with no impact to functionality. Both handles are covered with a dense foam wrap, which makes them comfortable in my hand and provides a no slip grip. They can handle thick branches, as stated up to 3/4 inches thick. I may have pushed this limit a couple of times, but by rotating the shears around the cut as I squeeze, they have worked for my purposes 100% of the time. The locking mechanism is easy to engage and disengage, and holds securely when locked.I dutifully clean the blades with alcohol after each use and store them inside. Aside from the slight wearing of the gold color, they continue to work and look like new.Buying these supports a small family owned American company. Win/win!

Surprised and Amazed
Ok I had some pruning to do with some bushes that dont even belong to me but were growing over my property line. Well I use the electric hedger and hedge clippers and was sweating and working muscles I didnt want to work on a hot summer day. I decided to buy these pruning shears. They was under $20 so I was like what do I have to lose. When I tell you these things made my life easy, they made my life easy. I want to buy more of their products now because I was genuinely impressed of how easy it was to clip some of the thicker branches. Also love the safety feature that closes the shears ensuring that they are closed so you don’t accidentally cut yourself if they are laying around. They are small enough to handle if you have small hands like me and I was able to clip different size branches off the bush.

Bypass trimming shears
My last pair of garden bypass shears lasted 30 years before they became ineffective. These new shears work very well, but require a large hand to grip, but how many can cut 3/4” diameter branches? The blade is sharp and cuts cleanly. Only problem I had was getting used to the locking mechanism— it is different from my previous shears. Also, the locking mechanism is easily adjustable. These shears made efficient work of trimming a 25’ hedge! I’m very satisfied with this purchase.
