To be honest, I bought this because it was cheap. Have tried so many aquarium cleaners over the years, I was supposed this actually worked. Put it in at an angle, get the suction going (Be ready with your bottle/bucket) pump until the water is flowing then use as your hoover. Great success. I’ve spent a fortune on various electric ones over the years which have been crap. Only downside to this is its a little short. Anything bigger than 200l you may have a problem with high sided tanks. Otherwise definitely worth a shot!

Fish tank syphon
When it came, I thought it looked a bit expensive for these pieces of plastic! However, when I started using it I couldnβt believe how wonderfully it worked. I am well impressed with this product and it has saved me such a lot of time cleaning the fish tank!

Stopped working after the first use
Was amazed how well it worked drawing water from tank (first time)although it didn’t seem to have enough suction to clean the gravel. 2nd time I used it, it wouldn’t suction up the water so had to suction on the pipe to get it started. The disc in the pipe seems to have dislodged? Can’t see a way to contact the seller after stating a no question refund if faulty etc. So what do I do??!!

It was simple to use, removed dirty water and waste from a large fish tank, without having to move the tank itself, as heavy containing water and danger of dropping it and breaking the glass. Easier, safer and effective

Super easy to use and super fast!
This works great to help clean out the fish tank. It works so fast and is brilliant to clean up the waste and stores the smaller stones at the bottom of it for easy removal. You can just pop off the lid and put the stones back in. It is unobtrusive and doesn’t startle the fish too which is great. Its great quality and not expensive.

Easy to get flow going.
I have arthritis in my hands and this is easy to get the flow going. Removes water quickly and syphon sand easily, I just pinched the tubing so sand would fall back and only the detritus would come out.

It’s okay, but nothing special.
Okay – it’s a plastic syphon, it isn’t very expensive and it does the job, but that’s about it I’m afraid. It does what it says – it syphons water out of your aquarium, but then again so does a bit of rubber tubing!Two things that would have massively improved it for me:- a flow control tap!!! How on earth could this be missed out? You fill the bucket and then have to empty the syphon, empty the bucket and start the process again – my old syphon had a nifty little control tap that you could click across and the flow would be held until you wanted to start it again.- change the syphon head. It can’t really figure out whether it’s a syphon or a gravel cleaner or both; it tries as gravel cleaning and the tiny particules floating on top of the gravel are fine, but when you try to dig deeper the gravel gets stuck in the holes which blocks them and reduces the syphon flow. You can unscrew the lid, but woe betide a small fish or snail that you don’t spot in time!!I’ve got it now, so I guess I’ll use it (if I don’t get myself too tangled in the twisty tubing!), but I am looking around for a decent gravel vacuum – then I can use a smaller more precise head to position it in the correct areas of the tank, which heads and have some decent suction to go beneath the gravel surface and then they all come with attachable hoses that can double as syphons.

Excellent product
This is my go-to syphon for water changes now. Like most fish keepers I have many products for essentially the same procedure as I’m always hoping the next purchase makes my life a little easier. This product does that. Its easy to use, well made and in expensive. To start the syphon is easy and doesn’t require you to ingest a drop of tank water. The flow rate is great and it makes quick work of a 50% water change in my 60 and 120L tanks. Highly recommended.

Cheap and Cheerful
I bought this to change the water in my turtle tank because I wasn’t going to rely on the old mouth on hose method (really didn’t fancy a mouthful of poopy turtle water which I’m sure is 100% understandable lol…) and for the most part, it works great but, it doesn’t get out all of the water from the tank which is unfortunate, it leaves about 3 inches of water so I then have to lug the tank into another room to empty it fully. However, the suction power is fantastic, it’s easy to use, as cheap as chips and does what it says on the tin! Overall, it is worth buying and if for whatever reason mine breaks, I will buy again,

Had for months now, havenβt failed me.
Iβve had this siphon for a couple months now, as my old one (which was one of those ones you have to violently move up and down to get water out) broke, even though the suction power was so bad it didnβt seem like it worked anyway.This one however, when I got it, worked amazingly! I was surprised by the suction power, it could actually remove the sand from my axolotl tank and actually overfilled my bucket in seconds as I assumed it would take so much longer.So yeah, great overall. I also like the grate thing, even though I donβt use it, and also find the hand operated pumping mechanism very handy.

YouTube helped me figure best way to use it!
When I first used this it drained nearly my whole tank but after watching a YouTube video (by aquarium co-op on gravel vacuums) Iβve learnt how to use it properly. I get the water to start flowing without using the pump, by dipping the top end into the water tilted upwards, lift a bit so the water moves then repeat, (the video shows this better than I can describe! haha!) and then I used the flat part of the tubes to squeeze/bend/kink the tube to stop the water flow inbetween positioning the suction end for all the vacuuming! This was an amazing essential technique for me in helping me not loose all the good beneficial fish tank water. I also took off the filter so it would suck up the larger pieces of old fish flakes/poop (this meant being extra careful around the fish of course!) π this time round only about 25% of the water came out which was perfect for water change! Wish the pump had come with these instructions as this was third time lucky for me the first 2 times were so fiddly and felt like Iβd failed. Due to the high reviews on this I knew I must have been doing something wrong so persevered and did some research on YouTube which was so helpful π

Empties aquarium water very quickly, but not much good a removal of debris!
This syphon certainly empties my aquarium quickly! Even on a partial water change….the problem I have is that it empties the water so quickly that it hardly removes the debris build up at the bottom of the tank !!!! Currently looking for something to aid removal of the debris in conjunction with this syphon…..that said it’s good value for the money.

Not As Good Idea As i thought
I hate faffing with these types so went for this one that looked so easy to start going and the end also has a cover which I thought be great to stop me hoovering the shrimps up!, indeed three squeezes and it was going into the bucket, not very fast mind and then got slower as went along so I took it out and the end that stops you sucking up little fish was bunged with smaller gravel, so you need to keep taking the end off and cleaning it so not quite as stress free as hoped and no way can you use it without the filter end as it sucks literally all your gravel out !, but I will use it still my other took forever to get going through , maybe i will get a perfect one some day!

Much better than my old one. Flexible hose makes it easy to clean my biorb. Sucks water out twice as fast as my old one and the mesh at the end should stop small fish being hoovered up. Confused me at first because you donβt need to put your finger over the end to get the water flowing. Fantastic product.

Fast and effective tank emptying
I am very impressed with this. I have a small 30L tank for 2 small goldfish and change a portion of the water regularly. I was using a jug to scoop the water out, this is very messy and probably pretty stressful for the fish. It also leaves lots of debris in the gravel – I had to remove the fish from the tank more often than I would have liked to do a full tank clean out. This is so easy to use. About 5 or 6 rapid pumps gets the water flowing and then it just keeps coming. I can empty about 1/3 of my tank (10L) in under a miniute. As you are emptying you can rummel the nozzle about in the gravel for maximum debris removal – I was impressed with the amount of gunk I got out and my tank is much cleaner as a result. I find that I can use it with or without the grid on the end. The gravel is heavy enough to stay in the nozzle and not get sucked up the tube and my fish are too big (and too sensible) to have any problems.Update: I am still using this siphon two years later, what i didn’t realise back then is that small goldfish very quickly become large goldfish and a 30l tank is in no way sufficient. I have a 200l tank now for my two happy monsters but this siphon still does the job efficiently and fairly quickly.

Good product that does the job good.
I have been using this product for well over a year now and it is still going strong.It’s well designed and sturdy and does exactly what it is designed to do.The squeezy bit is great for getting the suction going to begin the siphoning process. The length is generous for reaching down into a bucket. The plastic grill over the end that reaches into the tank is sized well to avoid sucking up any smaller fish. The length of pipe that reaches into the tank is stiff so that it helps to aim it around the tank bottom nicely to suck up any fish waste and debri.A well made product that will last a long time and does its job very well. Recommended

A bit too short. If you have a bucket on the floor and your tank is on a table. You might have need to use a stool just to make sure water doesnβt go everywhere with your movement as the tube is a bit too short.

For the price, this is great
I must say I have been pleasantly surprised by this item. I have used it a few times now and it does a good job. It does struggle with the gravel substrate at times so I have to kind of shuffle it around a bit, which does cause a considerable amount of debris to get stirred up in the water. However, the evidence in the bucket speaks for itself and it does seem to take up a lot of waste, uneaten food etc, which my house plants love! It does make water changes so easy and I also use it in reverse when filling up the water without causing loads of splashing. Overall I must say for the price you really cannot complain.I would like if there was perhaps different fittings that could be screwed on. Like maybe a larger and smaller end (especially a smaller one which would save me having to move rocks around).Nevertheless, I would certainly recommend it as I’ve had success with it so far.

So originally I bought a different one, like a gun kinda suction one, and it broke eventually, didn’t have it long, and was annoying to use,But this one is simple, easy and great if you use gravel, I use sand but it still works great.

I got my first gravel cleaner/syphon and it was one you had to shake up and down. Or tip upside down to start it. Messy. Only useful on my bigger tank to connect to a hose and let it run outside.I also tried the powered one which was messy, clunky and stops working if a grain of sand gets into it and was a waste of money.THIS IS AMAZING. Easy to handle. Easy to start. Easy to stop. Small head end so you can direct it to get the dirt. Would probably suck up a lot of sand so use just above surface. Small gravel gets a few bits. Large gravel amazing.

Sand cleaner
This is spot on for cleaning sand in an aquarium. I had gravel before so the high flow syphon had was too aggressive for sand. I looked for a smaller battery one but as this was cheap thought iβd give it a goβ¦.and its all i need. It lifts a little sand but tbh thats as im not the most delicate, i then wash the sand that collects in the bucket and put it back in. My tank is 360ltrs so that works well for me. With a smaller tank you could be more delicate with it and pull up pretty much no sand. Tube isnt very long but long enough. Pump works effectively after 3 punps, all in all very good purchase! Well worth the few quid it cost!

Could do with added bits and pieces
My only problem with this cleaner is where the bulb is located. It is too low down and have to bend to squeeze it. Furthermore there are no attachments to hold the pipe in place on the bucket and after the bulb the pipe is very short. So although this cleaner probably works, it’s no good to me as the tank is on a kitchen surface and the bucket needs to be on the floor it is very awkward for me to operate.

There’s nothing fishy about this product!
So many aquarium accessories these days are over-engineered, and made to be unnecessarily complicated to use – not to mention being rather costly. In contrast, here we have a simple, well-made, effective device that’s inexpensive. I first used mine to empty a 45 litre fish tank that I was moving from one location to another. Yes, I could have used a piece of old garden hose, and used the old ‘sucky on the tube’ trick to syphon the water down into a bucket. But that’s a crude method that can leave the user with a mouthful of dirty water containing fish poo – like yuck! So no, it’s much better to do what I did, and invest in a Luigi’s Fish Tank Siphon. I found it to be a doddle to use, and it emptied those 45 litres of water in just a few minutes. I’ve since used it to do partial water changes, and to clean out some of the gunk lying in the base and corners of my tanks. I like that this features a filter cap – so no worries about accidentally sucking up any unfortunate fish, or pieces of gravel. From my experience, this is one of those accessories that should be included in all serious fish keepers kit boxes. As a result, I have no hesitation in recommending this product. Perfectly simple to use.
I was not expecting too much from such an inexpensive and basic product but the syphon cleaner is so easy to use and worked as required. It was used to part empty the fish tank and remove debris from the gravel. As long as the receiving container is lower than the level of the tank then everything is simple and vise versa for refilling the tank. Would I recommend this product? Definately.

Works using aquirium waters weight / pressure
Fantastic. The pump did not work for me initially when i tested it out using my sink. It seemed impossible to get the water to climb up the tube. I was going to return it but decided for some reason or another to give it one more go with my aquirium and i feel very lucky i did as the water automatically started gushing out theough it at great speed upon a few pumps and kept going by itself. I had to direct it very quickly around the aquirium floor as it sucked up all the dirt for me before i would have to replace too much water. All the dirt was sucked right out into the bucket very well. The water in the bucket was black with dirt so the ratio of dirt removed to water removed was as good as i could have hoped for. It has made cleaning my aquiriun a two minute job. The filters holes are appropriately sized and my smaller mollies are safe i feel in case of an accidental swim by as i clean. I think the reason it works with the aquirium and not my sink originally is the weight of the water ie pressure in the aquirium pushes the water out of the tube. I had tried a similiar product from a local pet store beforehand as a temporary solution but it didnt work like this pump at all. So i highly recommend you buy this.

Tried 7 other ones no luck over the moon this does . Only down fall I have found one Β£11 pound cheaper exactly the same
