WHAT IS GRAIN FREE DOG FOOD AND IS IT RIGHT FOR MY DOG?

Grain free diets are made without cereals such as wheat. Some dogs are sensitive to cereals and may need a grain free diet to avoid the unpleasant symptoms of food intolerance whilst many other enjoy the taste.

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALLERGIES AND FOOD INTOLERANCE IN DOGS?

A food intolerance can be either an immune response to the food- an allergy or a non-immune response. In both cases the symptoms you see in your dog will be similar, digestive upset and skin and coat issues.

    Perfect dog food and size of item. Stick to the same brand. Try to vary flavours. Grain free due to the breed being hypoallergenic, gastro and skin problems. So keep. To grian free. Would easily buy again.

    Rock hard

    Purchased for an adult dog but unfortunately after adding hot water (i even covered the bowl too) the kibble remained rock hard, my dog wouldn’t eat it, i even tried breaking it up with a rolling pin!! That didn’t work either.

    A great improvement

    My dog has been eating this for a couple of months, has defo made a change to his bowl movements. His stools is more solid a great improvement. He looks forward to that food more then he used to the old stuff.

    Dogs loved it but it isn’t very nutritious.

    My dogs loved this and it suited both of them, including the one with a highly sensitive stomach. Excellent price and rapid delivery were bonuses too. Downside was discovering from AllAboutDogFood ratings how low on protein this food was. It’s great to get a grainfree food in a variety of flavours but I have now reverted to using Akela Suffolk Duck which has a much higher quality rating and works out much the same as this, price-wise. Akela is 80% protein and VAT-free too (if you buy 10kg bags) so it just seems much better value for money and also better for the dogs. I would still buy this in an emergency though!

    The only thing my fussy dog will eat

    My dog is a rescue, and untill i moved to this brand of dog food was a very fussy eater. Ive spent 100’s on various diets for her including raw feeding.She would like the new food for a few days and then just stop eating. Completely. Obviously not good.Tried these for this first time a couple months ago and haven’t looked back. She eats her full allowance every day. Will take it either in a bowl, hand fed or even as a training treat….. Bit more expensive than than the next similar brand but worth it.

    WATCH THE SIZES of the pack

    I regularly buy James Wellbeloved for my dogs and cat, and find it is a great all round food, hassle-free and seems to be working towards healthy coats and a good balanced doggy health (or cat health if you include the old smelly cat we also own). I have never had trouble with the food nor any issues with the animals eating it.HOWEVER do watch out as this pack is only slightly cheaper than the other packs and is a full HALF KILO lighter in content. I am not sure if JW are moving over to this weight as a standard and this is the first change, but I find if I do shop around within Amazon I can get that extra half kilo for a few pence more, or even the same price.The food is great, just watch the weight of it!Don’t forget to click the button below if you liked my review

    My spaniel loves it!!

    After being on the James well beloved chicken and rice for a while now my cocker was getting bored of it, often taking ages to finish it and sometimes leaving it. Thought I would try her with this as it’s no rice just to see what the issue was and, well it must have been the rice as she loves this!!It’s nice to know she’s enjoying her scran again, even licking the bowl!! Go for it!!

    I’m recovering very well from a stroke. Occasionally have the odd “ moment “ . Gave a smallish bowl to my 10 year old kitty. He loved it albeit had trouble chewing it . He finished the lot. Not advocating feeding it to cats but he suffered no side effects. Gave the remainder of the pack to my neighbours dog who tend to cheaper brands.They said that it appears they are going to upgrade his biscuits. So he loved them too.

    Switched to this on vets recommendation as our doggo has a sensitive tummy. She hasn’t been on it too long but so far so good and no issues. Hoping this will continue. Our dog loves it.

    My very fussy dog loves it

    I only purchased a small bag of this trying to find something that my dog will like, as she is a very fussy eater. I am happy to say that my search for dog food is over since she absolutely loved it. Seems very good quality. Will definitely buy again in bigger quantities.

    Great for stomach sensitivity

    Bought this for my Yorkshire terrier as he needs some dry to fill him up as wet food isn’t enough for him but he has a sensitive stomach so can’t have just any dry as some he’s tried in past was given him ear infections. This dry food seems ok with him and his stomach is better too

    He eats it

    BoBo won’t eat his vegan food, so I have to compromise. He seems to like this, it’s got a few simple ingredients and doesn’t have an overwealming smell of fish. He’s not a working dog and gets walked twice a day for under an hour. I do think he seems a bit perkier on this though, don’t know if it’s coincidence.

    Five star for scent. You might not like it but I do. Nice large lumps bigger than my earlier meal so good to crunch.I have half the recommended amount for my weight with the rest with my favourite stewed chicken.IslaScottish Terrier

    No choice!

    I would be pleased to say I love this product but can’t as my dog will leave it, if something else ison offer. So, out off all the dried food it’s the best for my fussy dog and the vet said he must haveSomething other than just meat. He also doesn’t like rice and this one has veg instead.

    Yes we have a West Highland White – our third & knowing the breed can suffer with skin problems we put ‘George’ on this from the word go – as its described for ‘allergy’ problemsHe has been fine & no skin problems unlike our 1st WestieWe use the standard James Wellbeloved adult for our Schnauzer though
