   New HP 2710e, good value but…

   My 9 year old HP finally gave up and needed a new one in a hurry. I chose this one due to price and ink offering. Wrong, the instructions are all mixed up with other languages and not straight forward at all. Luckily I just used my knowledge of printers and got it working. Why can’t HP just print all the English together and separate and the other languages in their own section,Ink supply supplied with purchase only allowed 29 prints, a complete misnomer from what is advertised. Luckily I had another set of ink containers. The printer is a bit flimsy but you get what you pay for however it is producing what I need.

   A Rough Start…

   UPDATE (30/05/2023): I have come to learn more about HP in recent months and their practices within the printing industry that comes across as appearing to be anti-consumer. This comes with their HP+ subscription service that I have covered in the main body of my review, but I wonder how many of you realize the terms and conditions of being part of it?By being signed up, you allow HP to change the software of the printer to where they will block you from installing third party/ after market ink cartridges. That part is made clear, however, there is more. As set out in the terms and conditions, you grant HP permission to change/ alter the software on your printer without your knowledge, and that you must have your printer connected to the internet. This is done when you first agree to sign up to HP+ with the temptation of 6 months free. The only way you can stop all this and be free to use third party ink is to buy a new printer.At the time of writing, the IITC (International Information Technology Commission) is disputing whether HP should be part of EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) for breeching the criterion of having EPEAT certification by blocking users from using third party cartridges and containers.I have realized that I do not print very often and I have my printer disconnected for the majority of the time. By doing this, HP have not sent any more ink to me, and in the end, you will end up paying for nothing if you do not use your printer regularly. I will have cancelled my HP+ subscription by the time you see this review, and if I have to keep buying HP ink only to keep using the printer on my own terms, then so be it.Original ReviewI will throw my hands up, I haven’t used a printer in years given society is more paperless than ever although some businesses and government authorities have missed that memo. Given all the recent RMAa lately, and the need to send physical paper documents and letters to other places, it would be more beneficial to just get my own printer.I tried to set it up with the app over WIFI but I soon ran into a hurdle. The app would not recognise that the printer ink door was closed despite it being so. I soon gave up with the app for setup and connected the printer to my PC via USB. The setup process worked a lot better and it was soon completed, but I ran into the next issue that went into the next day… paper alignment.I found paper alignment to be very difficult and it did fail for me several times. It chewed up the paper many times with multiple rips, and the printer even dragged 5-10 sheets through it and didnt print properly. Thanks to YouTube, I learned how to align it properly and it has worked since. For A4 paper, the grey slidy thing in the paper loading area needs to be on the far left.HP is very quick to show off its subscription service so that you always have supply of ink at a cheaper cost than buying it outright in the store. The way they do this is by asking how much you might print within a 4 week period.1. Light, 10 pages = £0.992. Occasional, 50 pages = £2.99 (I picked this one)3. Moderate, 100 pages = £4.494. Frequent, 300 pages = £9.995. Business, 700 pages = £22.49You will also have to agree to use ONLY HP genuine ink which sounds anti-consumer and anti-competitive, but for me at least, it works out well if you can get a regular supply of decent ink at a low price. Thankfully, HP does not get fussy about what paper you use… unlike a certain sticker label printing company who blocks all third party paper.Overall, I recommend this printer as it is quiet during the printing process and reliable (once set up properly). The HP+ subscription makes sense if you intend to only use a certain amount each month, and it will work out cheaper than buying HP ink in the store, and it will probably be of a better quality than a third party ink. The app isn’t the greatest for the set up process, but for everything else it is fine. This includes amount of ink remaining (estimates, of course), whether your printer has any issues, and other support you will need.8/10

   Great little printer

   The printer looks smart and has all the adcanced functions of a much more expensive printer.Its printing speed is ok, not too slow but not mega speedy either.Set up is very easy to follow, both hardware and app.My only issue is the colour ink cartridge is small which means it will only print approx 30 colour prints before requiring a new cartridge (costs approx £12 at time of writing)

   Excellent printer but has some built in frustrations

   The print is first class and quick, no complains but the installation procedure is long and tedious involving opening an account, giving credit cards and so on. The scanner is incredibly slow and involves connecting to who knows where. The price is attractive but I now have some regrets as I only wanted a simple printer.

   Great little printer for the price

   Great little printer for the price.The app on our phone makes it so easy to use. My daughter uses it to print her shipping labels for Vinted loves that its just a couple of clicks. Hubby uses to scan receipts for his returns and I use to print documents and photos.Simple to set up snd not too big, ideal for what we need.

   A nightmare to set up

   This printer should have been simple to set up. It was a total mare. I used a HP laptop and tried 2 other computers. In the end it took 5 hours to be at the point I could print. The HP smart app would not work properly on any computer. Only YouTube and dogged persistence got me through. Don’t buy any support from con artists just use YouTube. All the paperwork with the Printer is completely useless. The printer it self is fine.

   Very easy to use

   I wasn’t sure what to expect with this printer as I’ve never had one at home before. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to install and use. It’s very simple using it through the app. The hardest part was getting it out of the box! I didn’t even realise it scanned documents for copying, which has come in very handy already. The print quality is excellent and the print speed is pretty good. For the money, I would thoroughly recommend this printer. Five stars from me.

    Works out of the box, does what a printer should, ‘it prints’

    Easy to set up, simple instructions, does what you would expect, prints. The nice thing about the network printer is I can print from anywhere in the house without finding wires, connectors, adaptors, etc.HP Software is easy to use and seems to integrate with other applications such as Chrome, Google, Word, and PDF software.

    Bit of a pain to set up if you only have mobile data and hotspot.

    Had to go through a process with someone on the phone to set it up due to not having wifi, only hotspot. Have to turn on hotspot on mobile and then use my laptop to print every time I use it, but works really well otherwise.

    This printer took over 4 hours to set up and it still doesn’t work. Worst £45 I have ever spent.

    The instructions for set up that come in the box, do not match your real life experience. The “autodetect“ for the drivers does not work, and neither does the auto detect for the printer.I tried everything to find out how to set this printer up. In 2023, we have the concept of plug and play with most IT peripherals, so for this to be taking me back 30 years requiring finding the IP address of the printer in order to find a driver that isn’t the same driver that’s named in the instructions andin the App Store in order to get this thing to work is ridiculous.By the time I was onto HP support by phone, which, by the way, took three attempts to get to the right dept, I told them squarely that I was ready to put this thing straight back in its box and send it back, unless they made this printer print something right now.They got a test page to print, and then a single page to print. The support call then ended. This had taken me four hours already, and so I went to print the document I wanted to print out choosing “double sided“ as my option. It then printed out the entire document single sided. I can find no option to make it print double sided, except for choosing “double sided “when going to print per the usual method.I am now going to have to get back to the HP support to find out how to make a word document print on both sides of the page. Google appears to indicate I now need to install ‘duplex print it’.This has been a wholesale waste of time. Not least of all because you are upsold HPplus all the way through the process of setting the thing up, without ever being told what HP plus is and you are encouraged to set up HP instant ink. By skipping these during the printer set up process, I believe the driver set up process is not working properly.I don’t know HP, it’s my first time. I have always had Canon printers before now and wish I had gone with another Canon again this time. So with no prices and no perceivable benefits of either HP+ or HP instant ink and no explanation or introduction to these concepts apart from within the driver set up process, why on earth would i want to set this up?On my support call with HP, she also tried to upsell me to HP instant ink and HP plus. So I asked her to explain what it is.She asked me how much i usually spent on printing with this printer per month, to which I replied that I hadn’t printed a single page yet which is why I was talking to her.How on earth would I know how much I spent per month on printing on a printer that I’ve only just received?She was also unable to demonstrate any benefits of HP plus, showing me instead a screen shot from the website where one of the main USPs is “efficient printing”.It’s a printer! It is supposed to print!Avoid this unless you are lucky, or like a bit of a challenge.***Update: after trying to follow instructions on double sided printing for this machine, it still doesn’t work so have attempted to return and now found I have to pay postage for that. I will literally just throw this printer in the bin when the ink has run out**** DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!

     I am very pleased with this printer. I usually have Epsons but I had to return my last new one after it stopped working. I’m thrilled with this one. A happy convert.This is stylish and compact and most importantly the quality of the prints are excellent. The app is very easy to use and you have the option to order ink automatically so you never run out.I only use my printer occasionally so unsure if I would use this service but it’s useful.The ink is quite reasonably priced as ink cartridges go as I have already mentioned, the quality is excellent.Overall very pleased

    Basic kit, no frills

    This is well established technolgy, using the same ink cartridges as my old inkjet printer but with wireless connection etc. It was easy to install but be sure to switch it off before firing up your computer as it will disable your password (!). Print quality is good, colour accurate and the controls seem straightforward. I haven’t taken advantage of the automatic ink ordering offer as I don’t do enough copies to make this worthwhile. Overall it seems very good value for money.

    Ideal for basic home use. I’ve given 5 stars for easy to install although I didn’t do that, a friend who is much more au fait with technology did it for me & it looked easy. I’m pleased with it for what I need but I will say it’s not as quiet as my previous HP4500 printer which had to be retired after 13 yrs faithful use!!

    Saw this HP printer and for the money ,thought where can you go wrong , Unpacked it wired it up and the downloaded the HPappAt first it didn’t seem to want to know ,but after a while managed to get it connected via WiFi and BluetoothNot the fastest printer in the world ,but prints good quality colour and black ,the free ink offer for 6 months is also a good deal,so in short ,for what it costs and rhe results it’s doing OK

    ABSOLUTELY AMAZING VALUE!

    I was absolutely amazed at the price of this HP printer, I only paid £28,00 for it and that included 6 months FREE INKS! And there’s no limit on how many you want/need!I wanted a printer that was super easy to connect my iPhone and my partners iPhone and iPad and this was one of the top ones that came up when I clicked ‘search’.I couldn’t believe the deal of free inks for the first 6 months upon registration, My partner rang up HP customer services and registered the printer and we were offered a deal for when the 6 months period had expired. For £2,00 a month we could carry on the same free inks policy for as long as we paid for it or as long as we had the printer for. The new colour and black ink sets are sold on Amazon Prime just like the printer was. And BTW please don’t try to buy copies of the inks for ANY HP printer as they are programmed to block them from being used!Not that I would as I tried to do it once with a Canon printer and it ruined the printer and never worked properly afterwards and kept leaving stripes of colours all over the pages or photos that I tried toPrint off…So I won’t fall into that trap again.This is a fantastic little printer and it is made by one of the leading companies in the industry. The colours are vibrant and are a very good match to what you are copying.Photos come out exceptionally well and you would think that they had been done by a professional printer by a professional photographer!All in all I think that this is a great item and would urge anyone to buy one especially at this crazy low price! 5 ✨✨✨✨✨

    Bit of a faff but got there

    I needed a new all in one printer as my aging Epson had so many problems with print heads blocking up and I was fed up of cleaning them with an expensive cleaning kit every time I wanted to print something. I am not a heavy user, typically I’ll print something every few months so I do not need anything expensive. This HP was on offer at only £34.00. Bargain. I looked for compatible cartridges and found they are easily refilled with a filling kit. It is as simple as injecting ink into the hole in the cartridge and putting it back into the machine and the cartridge can be filled up to 30 times. Perfect for me and better for the Planet, not that I’m an eco warrior, it just makes sense.Anyway, to the printer. Out of the box was simple, a couple of blue tapes and click in the cartridges. Done in minutes. Connecting to the internet seemed to go well, It did turn out a faff because I typed the internet password wrong and because it was blanked out I didn’t realise so it wouldn’t work, then it insisted on not wanting to connect.I unplugged it and went through it all again typing the correct password and it connected. I was using the HP Smart app which is pretty intuitive and easy to use. When it was connected my Laptop for some reason always defaulted to Microsoft one note instead of the printer. I’m not techie ( can you tell) When I realised I had to set the HP as my default printer Bingo! All fell into place and it worked. Performance wise, it is slower than the Epson I had but as I am not a home office user it does it’s job well for me. I ordered a filling kit for the ink for £19.00 that is a massive saving on ink as the starter cartridges only have about 1ml of ink, basically enough to get the printer set up so they will run out in less than a week. For the money paid I can’t complain. It does the job.

    Slight Problem

    Lovely compact printer, easy to assemble the only problem I find is that after printing a few pages it jams and paper won’t go through. I had the same problem with previous machine, although that only started happening after 2 years.

    Wonderful printer but you may need help with installation.

    I was absolutely thrilled with this neat printer, which is perfect for use at home. But I’m not a brilliant technician, and have a tower computer so needed a usb connection, and was very grateful that a clever computer expert came to set it up for me, because once he’d found where the usb could be connected, things went beautifully. I am delighted with the printer now.

    Good value for money

    This is the second HP printer I’ve purchased and its definitely worth the money. It takes a while to configure the wireless print from my phone and laptop. I am also enjoying the free ink which is the best part.

    Lovely Compact Printer

    I was so pleased with this printer when it first arrived. I was able to set it up easily and the print quality was really good for my needs.I was printing documents periodically, so it did not have a huge amount of use before I encountered problems. Suddenly it stopped printing and I had a number of technical issues. I contacted the technical helpdesk and a couple of obvious suggestions were made eg: switch off printer for a minute and reconnect, turn off broadband to see whether the machine reconnects and resumes printing. This did not solve my problem. The technician offered to resolve my issue by taking control of my machine, but in this day and age this is not something that I was comfortable doing and there was also a subsequent cost associated with this service. Again this made my very nervous.After much investigation I was able to resolve the issue myself.This is the only reason why I’ve given it 4 stars, otherwise it would have scored 5 stars

    Definitely reccomend. If you are on a low budget this is the printer for you – £48 for a brilliant quality HP printer ! Absolute steal. Also comes with 6 months of completely free Ink included. The printer works fantastically.

    Not for the faint-hearted!

    Needed real H el P! setting up with this printer! Don’t know if its the wi-fi in my home or its just a real botch of a set-up! But was practically tearing my hair out in the process! Finally got it set up against all the odds! Not a bad little printer for its value, though you can’t expect much more than basics for this amount! 2-sided printing is difficult as it doesn’t do it automatically and you have to feed the second side back in! In its favour it comes with Instant Ink trial which means you don’t have to pay anything for inks for months before payments officially start. Even when payments start sounds like a bargain. Just glad I’ve got printer up and running as both my others lives came to an end!
