Great for Campers!!!
This was on my shopping list for about 9 months before I purchased it. I didn’t think it would really work. it reminded me of those small desktop refrigerators or personal air conditioners. gimmicky POS. While at a friend’s kid’s birthday party they had their ice maker going the entire day and had no issues. It makes plenty of ice and makes ice fast. They, too, purchased for their camper. We have used it all summer in south Louisiana and the gulf coast region in our camper. For 2 adults and a 1-year-old, this thing makes more than enough ice. We keep a bowl in the freezer to pour excess ice into. By the end of our trip, we usually have a full machine and a full bowl in the freezer left over. I will buy this machine every year if it breaks because it is worth the money!!!

About the same as buying bags of ice. 10 months of use and the water tray broke.
Update: I’ve had the ice maker for 10 months and it’s broken. I could easily fix it but the part is not available. The plastic tray that swings up to hold water while the ice is made broke. Corrosion and rust on the motor is the reason. Cost comparison it’s about the same as buy ice bags @ 2.99 all year. this ice maker makes a lot of ice in one day. It’s easy to refill water, easy to empty the tray. The only down side is that the container is not refrigerated. the ice cubes are slowly melting until you transfer them into the freezer. since they are wet they freeze into a clump in the freezer that is easy to break up but a little frustrating. for the price this is a great unit.

Why buy a built in ice maker?
We use ours daily on our boat (full-time liveaboard) and it has performed better than expected. Make ice fast and we never run out of it. Far less expensive than buying a built-in ice maker and I’m glad we tried this one out.

Slick little machine
Impressive! I threw out the first couple batches and then made two full baskets. ICE is a bit wet, but cranks it out. Good investment since my freezer ice machine cannot keep up.

Hard to Clean and Lasted 10 months
At first I LOVED it. Made ice quickly. After a couple of months, it needed cleaning. THAT was a chore. I was very particular about the water that I used, using only filtered water and always a clean scoop (NEVER hands in the ice machine). 10 months after purchase – the machine is dead. The arm is stuck and it wont freeze. I paid less than $100 so it saved me that in bags of ice I would have purchased.

More annoying than useful
I really wanted this to solve a problem I’m having. Simply stated, repairing/replacing our freezer ice maker was going to take more time and money than I wanted to throw at it. I figured somehting like this would keep me going with ice. Well, it does…. sorta. It’s an attractive unit that fits nicely on the counter next to my fridge, and it DOES make nice little bullet cubes of two optional sizes rather quickly. I can fill the little tray in an hour. However, here’s where anooying part comes in. First off, it’s noisy. You can tell it’s running from the other room. It’s a white noise type of sound, but you can certainly hear it. However, my A #1 issue with this thing (and most certainly other ice makes like it) is that the inside compartment isn’t refrigerated. So as soon as the ice is made, it starts melting. I thought “no big deal”, I’ll just wait 30 minutes and dump the ice into the freezer. Since the unit says it can “keep cubes frozen for 18 hours”, this certainly wouldn’t be an issue, right? Well, it is an issue. It’s a big issue. Within minutes of dumping the basket of ice into my freezer it freezes into a mostly solid brick of ice bullets. So when you want to use the ice, the first step is to try to break this brick apart. I then tried to dump the ice in after each 6 cube load. Same thing. So I’m faced with a very annoying ice maker, or I can get one that’s more of a commercial ice maker (expensive), or I can fix my freezer ice maker… which I was trying to avoid. I think this will go back and I will keep buying 25lb bags of ice each week instead.

Worked great for 6 months
I bought this ice maker in March and it worked well for about 6 months. The ice melts fairly quickly so you have to transfer it to the freezer. It’s a little noisy but that wasn’t too bothersome. I am disappointed that only 6 months later the moving part that pushes the ice into the basket now gets stuck and causes the cycle to discontinue. It’s unusable. I am planning to contact Frigidaire to see if it can be repaired easily but I was hoping it would last long enough to more than pay for itself. At this rate if I have to buy a new one already I probably barely broke even.

Poops out ice regularly
Inflation has brought the price of ice up to 7$ per bag in Colorado. I’m no economist, but buying this ice machine will pay for itself in less than a year. Puts out 6 pieces of awesome ice every 5-6 minutes once it gets going. I can fill up my freezer tray and be set for a week. I even run it the day before I go camping and just keep filling my cooler up. 20+ pounds, no problem. Keeps my yeti rambler full every day, outlasted the ice maker in my newer Samsung refrigerator, think about that…

Plenty of ice
This ice maker is very easy to use, not overly sized so it fits in my tiny kitchen. The ice machine makes plenty of ice. The only draw back is that it does not keep the ice frozen. I have to lay small amount of cubes on a cookie sheet to freeze solid, then put them into my ice bin or all the cubes freeze together into one big clump.

Great alternative for refrigerator/freezers without automatic ice machines
I recently downsized and moved into a house with a relatively small refrigerator/freezer without an automatic ice machine. There’s also not a cold water line behind the refrigerator. I’ll admit that plumbing is not my forte so even if I had a water line nearby, I still would need assistance installing an automatic ice machine in my freezer. I was also concerned about how much space an ice maker would take up in my freezer. I asked my brother-in-law for advice and he informed me that they make affordable counter-top automatic ice makers that need to be manually filled as needed. Fortunately, I have a good amount of counter space so I invested in a Frigidaire counter top ice maker. It works great and I don’t mind using a pitcher to periodically fill the tank on the ice maker. It’s also portable so I can relocate it to a different location as long as there’s a receptacle nearby. So now I have the convenience of an automatic ice maker which was the one luxury that didn’t come with the house. I’m also pretty certain that there’s not enough space for a refrigerator with a door mounted ice maker/dispenser. I’m writing a review of this product for people like me that didn’t know counter top ice makers were available and do an adequate job as long as the user doesn’t mind manually filling it.Follow-up review. This unit was easy enough to install and follow the instructions. I noticed the morning after having a container of nice sized ice cubes that all the cubes melted. I’m a rather impatient person and I didn’t bother to see if there were troubleshooting instructions for this model. As far as I was concerned, the unit should have remained cold enough to keep the cubes usable as needed. I like the idea of having a counter top ice maker that plugs in and only needs to be manually fed with cold water as needed. I also bought this unit since I have had good success with Frigidaire equipment in the past. I expected this unit to be plug and play. My previous house refrigerator/freezer had a cold water line at the back and of course a receptacle. All I needed to do was make the two connections and shortly thereafter I had an automatic door ice maker/cold water dispenser. I don’t even use a lot of ice so I’m not sure what compelled me to buy a counter-top automatic ice maker. Regardless, I can’t recommend this model as the ice cubes melted pretty much as soon as I had a full container of ice cubes. BTW, there isn’t a door automatic ice maker on the refrigerator in my new house nor is there a cold water line behind the refrigerator made for connecting to some sort of automatic ice maker. Plumbing is not my forte but I wasn’t against the idea of a portable counter top unit. Perhaps you will purchase this unit and have better success. My only recommendation is to read the instructions which I never bothered to do.

Machine is GREAT, but it can suddenly stop working… then start working again a week later. LOL
This machine is great! The taste changes depending on what type of water you put into the machine. It works very well making ice quickly, keeping our work shop crew happy 🙂 About 3-4 days from its 90days, the machine just stopped working. From reading the reviews this sometimes happens and they will replace it as long as it is in its 90 day of purchase. Amazon customer service helped me get a new machine and to return the broken machine. We hadn’t brought the new one to the shop yet. Getting into work today, the machine was suddenly making ice after not working for a week. YAY! No idea what happened and why it turned back on because no one has touched it since we trouble shot possible issues a week ago.

Makes Ice Quick
This summer I traveled 7,000 miles in very hot weather 100-110 degrees and was tired of buying ice cubes. So I thought I’d try this ice maker and was not disappointed. It doesn’t take long to make enough ice to keep my drinks cold. Once a week I’d use it to make ice cubes and fill ziplock bags full. Then put the bags in the freezer and had enough ice for two of us. My girlfriend also bought one and used it while she was a camp host for 8 months. When I wasn’t using it, I’d just put it back in the box and store it though it didn’t take up my counter space when in use.

Product doesn’t last
We were very satisfied with this ice maker for 11 months. At that point, it stopped working. We did all the troubleshooting we could but had no luck. I reached out to the company. Their response time was VERY delayed and after repeatedly reaching out to them, they told us to send the machine to them, at our expense. They made zero mention of what we could expect as a resolution, so I once again, had to reach out and wait days for a response that once the machine was received we would receive a refund or replacement. It costs over $60 to send the machine back! It was just over $100 new. It simply is not worth the cost.I would not recommend this product, as the warranty/customer service is completely inadequate.

Cool in Texas
The summer was brutal and while I have cold water from a dispenser it doesn’t last long in Texas heat. Just adding the beautiful hollow cube ice takes all the heat away.

The ice melts to quickly
I was satisfied with the simple operation of the icemaker . The problem that I had with it was that the ice cubes on the large setting were quite small and the ice cubes started to melt only the short time that they emptied into the reservoir . If I was to put the finished cubes in my freezer they would be frozen in one solid mass and that would not be to convenient to smash them up just to put them in somebody’s drink . That is precisely why I gave the ice maker such low marks .

Ice chompers, this is BEST ICE MAKER EVER!!
If you like to chew ice, then you will love this ice maker!! I like the “hospital ice”, but it melts way too soon. This bullet ice maker is great! You can chew the ice right from the maker. If you like to make ice ahead of time just put it in gallon size freezer bags and store it in your freezer. It is too hard to chew right out of the freezer, but after water is poured over it and it melts a bit is when its best to chew.

The product works well…. No real way to keep it clean.
We cleaned our ice machine once a week, as suggested with suggested cleaning product. My mom has gotten sick because this machine had black mold in the compartment that holds the water up to the medal prongs that creates the ice. Customer service for the product is horrible. They don’t have any real instructions on how to clean that compartment. Please beware when purchasing this device.The product worked well. It made ice well. It just no way I can use it with the black mold in it and not a way to clean it effectively.

Not what I was expecting
OK, first the good. Fits nicely on the counter, attractive unit. Then the bad. 1. Not at all what I was expecting. It DOES make ice, but little bullet-shaped things that IMMEDIATELY start to melt in the unit as soon as they are made. The instructions seem to indicate that the user should transfer to a bin in an actual refrigerator. I did this but the “ice bullets” are so wet that they soon freeze together in one big lump. 2. It does make ice pretty fast but only in very small amounts so if you are wanting to have enough available for several people, you need to start way ahead (like 45 minutes) to get enough for six or eight glasses of iced tea. And then, once it is made and you have put into a bin, in order to use them you need to get out the ice pick. (Well, I haven’t had or used one of those since visiting my great uncle at his farm a long time ago.) Since I don’t have an ice pick, I use the handle end of a spatula and hammer away at it. Overall, I would NOT buy one of these again. In fact, I am thinking about sending back to Amazon for refund. Disappointed!

Ice too wet
It makes ice pretty fast and it’s easy to use and empty. My dislike is the ice cubes are too wet when dumping into a container in the freezer and you end up with a large block of ice cubes. I am going to purchase some large freezer bags to start dumping my ice into that way I can break up the ice cubes like you would from a bag of ice purchased at the store then dumping those into my ice bucket so it is much easier to make a drink than trying to break up the block of ice cubes.

Family loves
We love how convenient it is to have ice at the ready. With the two sizes of ice and how fast it makes ice, its prefect for us. You can use out of machine or bag ice and freeze it if you need more. For a family of four it makes enough that we have a bag in freezer but we don’t use it offen.

Great Size and easy to use
We are really enjoying our ice maker. It makes. The perfect size ice cubes for our iced coffee and mixed drinks, we use the small cube setting. There is nothing fancy about the shape or style so if that is what you are looking for this is not the product for you. It. Doesn’t take more than a few minutes to get your first round of ice. The basket is fairly small, you can’t get the entire 26lbs it can make in a day by setting filling the water and letting it run, you have to refill it and place the ice in a freezer several times. The cubes are also very wet when they come out so they melt into each other unlike if you were to use an ice tray. It fits perfectly on our counter in our bar area.

It does what it says
I like the dark red color of the machine we ordered. It was super easy to set up and started making ice in just a few minutes as promised. The problem is that they are oval shaped rounded ice cubes that are hollow on the inside. So when you put them in a room temp liquid, they melt and water down the liquid very quickly. And we tried to bag some ice to stock up in our freezer (tired of ice cube trays), but it’s a really “wet” freeze and they all freeze together in a huge clump that you can’t break apart. So if you are a person who likes to sit around and munch on ice, this would be a good machine for you. If you are looking for ice to make mixed drinks and such, I wouldn’t recommend. The ice it makes is good if you’re going to blend it up in a blender for a smoothie or protein drink. I’m giving it 3 stars just beside I mainly wanted it to use for mixed drinks and soda etc, and it melts too quickly for that.

Warranty from Curtis International sorry.
Good product if it works. Mine had a bad ice fill sensor periodically not working. As a result ice backed up causing ice making water tray to crack from hitting the ice. Curtis International, located in Canada, provides the warranty, and it summarily claims that cracked tray was caused by “ alteration, abuse, misuse, battery corrosion or accidental damage” and as a result this voids the warranty,” despite the damage being caused by normal use and a defective sensor. Stuck with its decision right or wrong. Furthermore, they will not help in trying to buy the needed parts. Moral is don’t depend on warranty when buying.

Makes ice fast!
This unit is worth the money and looks nice. It makes ice super fast. I also noticed the cubes melt very quickly. If you transfer to an ice bucket for your freezer be prepared. It will freeze into a solid block. You can keep ice in the machine but it isn’t really for storage as the ice will melt. It takes up some space but nothing that was unexpected. Very easy to use. Add water, turn on wait 9 minutes. You will have enough ice for a full rocks glass. The machine makes a lot of noises and is a bit loud. It’s the only ice machine I have owned so I don’t have anything to compare it to. It freaks out my dog. Lol i am happy with this purchase.

Can someone help me?
I love my little ice machine. However, after less than a year it has stopped working. It feeds the water to the ice tray and that is as far as it goes . A few weeks after having it the “add water” light stopped working. I should have returned it then but I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. Now, my little buddy is just stuck. Out of the less than year I have had it the machine has maybe been used 3 months. I need to see if I can exchange it or who do I contact on this. I miss my ice machine please send help.
