    Cute and Compact!

I recently moved into a smaller apartment and found myself looking for some appliances I could use to make quick and easy meals, so of course a rice cooker came to mind! I’ve been using an air fryer from Dash for a little over a year now and was really impressed with it. Naturally, they’ve also made an affordable rice cooker, so I purchased one in the hopes it worked just as well as my other Dash appliances! I’m happy to report the rice cooker works like a charm! It’s incredibly simple to use with only one switch/button and it cooks one cup of rice with relative ease! The only place the cooker has really struggled to work in my experience (and this could be due to a number of factors on my part) is when I tried to cook two cups of white rice at once. It just didn’t cook it through, so I had to finagle with it until I had at least a cup that was workable with dinner! Overall, I think this is a great product for people looking to save a bit of cash and some counter/cabinet space!

    Amazing rice cooker

I love rice, but have never mastered how to cook it in a pot the “normal” way. I’ve had multiple people show me how and tell me it’s so easy to cook rice in a regular pot, but we clearly have different definitionns of “easy,” or I just have some secret skill that makes me fail at cooking rice in a pot. I resorted to the boil-in-a-bag kind of rice because that was the only way I could get it cooked properly, without it burnt to the bottom and crunchy and the mushy in other spots. Then, enter this rice maker. I followed their instructions and filled their measuring cup with rice up to the line, added it to the pot with some salt, and then filled their measuring cup all the way with water, dumped it in, and pressed the “cook” button. (I did not rinse the rice; no one in my family does and I had no idea it was even a thing. Its never affected how my rice cooks, so I don’t intend to start doing so either.I did expect it to take less time initially…not sure why), but when it did flip from “cook” to “warm” and I checked the rice, it was done perfectly. Nothing burned to the pan, no mushy spots, just fully cooked, delicious rice. I’ve followed the same procedure every time and gotten basically perfect rice every time. If you don’t get to the pot right away, the rice will start to get a bit brown on the bottom and cook together a bit, but when you add butter and other food to the rice I’ve never noticed a burnt or bad taste; just that it’s a bit more stuck together than usual.I have had a few occasions where it did start to boil over, and that’s generally when I accidentally spilled water when adding it to the pot and guestimated how much I split and probably added more than it needed. Otherwise I’ve never had it boil over or make much of a mess at all, maybe beyond a few splatters… which is much less mess than I ever got making rice in the stove, where it would constant boil over, so I have no issues with the occasional splatter. It’s cooking…there’s sometimes a mess…that’s just how it goes. Regardless of whether it boils over or not, it’s super easy to clean; I just use a dishcloth and soapy water and any starch or other residue comes off quickly and easily. Again, far less time spent cleaning the cooker pot than I would spend cleaning an actual pot of rice, were I to attempt to do so, so I have no quarrels with that either. I just make sure to plug it in some place that isn’t right next to something I don’t want accidental rice water on (textbook, Alexa, phone, etc).I’ve should note I’ve only ever cooked rice in it despite owning it for years. Gluten free noodles take forever to cook on the stove in general and since I tend to make a big batch at once, using the Dash for noodles just hasn’t made sense. And I don’t eat oatmeal all that often, nor quinoa or other such things. Despite being basically a one function appliance for me, I’m perfectly happy with it because I can finally have good rice whenever I want, and not the stuff boiled in a bag. Also, I’ve used this in multiple places throughout the country, and have never had to change my regular procedure much, if at all. (Granted, I’ve never cooked rice at a super high altitude, so maybe that would require alterations to my process.)Aside from cooking rice perfectly, the Dash rice cooker just looks cute. Mine is red (to match my other kitchen appliances and decor/accent colors), and even when I had a microscopic kitchen the thing as hardly a concern because it’s so small that it doesn’t take much counterr space when using it, nor much space to store it. Though…once you buy the cute little Dash rice maker, you might end up with their little waffle maker and a few other Dash appliances, so storage space may eventually become a concern! If you’re second guessing buying the Dash rice maker, I’d just go for it. It might take some experimentation to get enough water to cook rice but not boil over everywhere…but having tried to scrub boiled on stains and gunk from the stove from a “regular” pot of rice that boiled over, cleaning up after the Dash is still far easier and quicker.Plus it’s basically set and forget; once you figure out the timing for the pot of rice to cook, it’s easy enough to ask Alexa to tell you to check the rice in X minutes, and then you won’t have to hover around waiting for the switch to flip over to “warm” (or nervously stare at the pot and hope it turns out okay!). You get 1-2 servings of delicious and perfectly cooked rice (depending on if your serving size is eating all the rice you cooked, or saving half of it) for very little effort and monitoring, and can focus on the rest of your meal…or Netflix (no judgement here!).

    Sweet little rice cooker!

Very nice product for a single person. Cooks the rice perfectly, keeps it warm and is a dream to clean up. I would recommend this product for anyone who likes rice or something in which to cook small meals. Fits just fine on my small counter.

    Great kitchen addition

Love my little pink rice cooker! I purchased this as two of our dogs need to have rice with their meals. This was easier to clean and took a lot less counter space than my instant pot for the rice. Cooks rice perfectly and so easy to clean. I’d give it 5 stars but the first time using it to cook 1 cup of rice it overflowed. I just make a 1/2 cup (using their measuring cup each day which is enough for two meals for our dogs. The other minor complaint is I wish it would switch off instead of warm as it seems to overcook the rice if you don’t get to it quickly when it is done.

    Little Workhorse!

Cute, easy to store, simple to use, a breeze to clean. I have a very small family and don’t need to make a vat of rice for dinner that we’re going to be using for days. In less than 40 minutes, I can have perfectly fluffy rice, enough for 1 or 2 people. Couldn’t be easier to use – dump in your rice (rinsed or not rinsed as you prefer), put in your water, add seasonings/butter if that’s your thing. Put the lid on, plug it in and press the button. Then just…walk away. Washing it takes nothing more exciting than a soapy washcloth and a good rinse. The pan comes out so you don’t have to worry about dragging something with a cord to the sink. It’s small enough that it will fit (and be stored) just about anywhere so you don’t have to worry about where the heck you’re gonna put yet another appliance.I thought it was going to be like an easy bake oven – more like a toy than a rice cooker. I was pleasantly proven wrong. This thing has been used consistently for months in my house, several times a week. We love it, and I hope you will too.

It does it! (also Great for college students + dorms!)

Super cute, very small, very light. Cheap, and does the job!Cooks rice + noodles really well!! Great for college + dorm living.the first time i turned it on, it made a plastic-y smell, but it went away super fast. I got it on resale, though, so it’s probably nothing to worry abt.

    Nifty

I also have an uber-expensive Japanese cooker with literally all the bells and whistles, but I use this cooker more often because it is small and simple in every way. Yes, the rice at the bottom of the bowl is sometimes scorched but that does not bother me in the least. Overall this is a terrific little rice cooker with an equally terrific little price.

    Impressed then disappointed

Used this appliance only 6 times; don’t own a dishwasher so all 6 times it has been washed by hand. I have used only the plastic spatula that was included; no metal utensils, and I use non-abrasive old fashioned sponges for my dishes, yet after only 6 uses, the ‘enamel’ coating on the insert is chipping off into the food (pic #1) where you can see the measuring lines – not just the lines, but on the numbers as well. And in the right light, where I’ve gone around the base of the insert with the sponge, it has scratched (pic #2) in a circular motion. This should never have happened with just a sponge and a mere 6 uses by only me. Today is trash day: sadly, this will be going for a ride to the dump and I’ll bring out my full sized rice cooker which I’ve had for years and never had a problem with it. Too bad, too, as I really liked this for portion size and color (I purchased the teal color) and it didn’t take up a lot of room on my counter. Very disappointed.

    What a little jewel!

I came across this appliance when searching for a small rice cooker and figured what the heck – the price was right so it was worth a try and boy was I surprised for this little jewel is anything but a humble rice cooker. For a single person this is a wonderful appliance to have in your kitchen. Whether it’s fixing your morning oatmeal, hotdogs and beans for two, to heating up a bowl of soup on a cold wet night it does this and so much more with ease. If I have a complaint it is that the power cord is a bit short for me. Other that that cleanup is a breeze with its removable non-stick cooking pot. Did I say it also keeps your food warm – it does and without scorching. Like I said it’s a wonderful little multifunction pot disguised as a simple rice cooker.

    Works as described, but…

It just switches to warm when done. Meaning, it doesn’t beep so you have to really pay attention. Also, the switch position and it’s light isn’t easy to see at a distance. It works great other than that slight annoyance.

    Works an super cute

I’ve been reviewing some products and looking for some that I can use by myself after having a stroke. And only having one hand to use. I found a mini waffle maker and now I have found the rice maker. As soon as it came in I cleaned it up and made some Spanish rice. It used to take me a long time but this was in less than 20 minutes plus I didn’t have to stand there and stir all the time and it was easy to clean up. I have just now ordered the 8 inch dash grill. Looking forward to cooking a lot of things like pizzas omelettes and maybe even bacon on it. So glad I’ve discovered these never thought I’d need anything like this but I love them. And at the price it sure doesn’t hurt to try to try them they are reasonably priced. You can’t say that for a lot of products anyway I’m super excited to try the grill when it comes and then maybe even the pie maker. As you can see there is no end to what I’m thinking I can try to cook. My husband is a great cook but I’m sure he’s tired of cooking for me and I’d like to try and make something for both of us. Hope you all enjoy your appliances as much as I am mine.

    Economy & Perfectly cooked meals

For decades I have struggled to cook for one. Inevitably I would cook to much food, having to either give it away or throw it out. With the purchase of this perfectly sized electric cooker those days are gladly over. Tonight I prepared a perfect beef broth rice with a green onion sauted in ghee. Happily it is enough for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. I am so grateful for having this beautiful utensil to get a handle my tendency to cook too much.

The Dash mini rice cooker is tiny! It is just perfect for one or two people. The rice comes out great every time. I bought it to make brown rice as I don’t eat white rice like the rest of my family. Now that my daughter discovered it, she uses it as well.

Be aware that this is a VERY small rice cooker

I had been looking at rice cookers because the one I’ve used for many years quit working, and it had considerably more capacity than I need (thus needlessly taking up space on my countertop). In my reading on Amazon, it appeared to me that rice cooker sizes were noted as to how many cups of rice the cooker could handle at one time. This one apparently did not follow that norm, or I didn’t read the description correctly. I rarely used even half of my old rice cooker’s capacity. I use a short water tumbler as my rice measure, and as I always have, I loaded this cooker with one short water glass of rice and two of water, which filled it right to the brim. So, this cooker holds less rice than I thought, and I’ll need to be careful when loading it. It did a nice job of cooking the rice, though it took longer than my prior cooker.

    LOVE

So far I’ve cooked pearled barley and long grain brown rice. For the barley I followed the water/grain ratio suggested in the user manual and it turned out perfect. But the suggested ratio for the rice just can’t be correct so I used 3/4 cup rice and 1.5 cup filtered water. This was a standard normal measuring cup, not the cup supplied with the cooker. It turns out perfect every time. I’ve tried this with rinsed and not rinsed rice. I don’t think rinsing makes much difference but I usually rinse. It’s the cutest little thing, just right for just me. I plugged one of those plugs that have an on/off switch into the wall socket and plug the cooker into that so when it’s not in use I can switch it off and not have to bother unplugging it. Because I think if it’s plugged in it’s warming. The switch plug I have is called UltraPro Grounded Power Switch, 2 Pack, Outlet Extender and I bought it on Amazon. I’m totally happy with this grain cooker. I don’t get any spillover or messes of any kind and cleaning the pot and lid is effortless.

    Best addition to my kitchen!

This little guy is such a great helper! I cook brown rice regularly to add to my dog’s food and now I no longer have to drag out the full size rice cooker, I just use my DASH mini instead. Part of the appeal is that I can keep it on the counter where it’s handy. I even made egg noodles in it…just followed the recipe for chicken noodle soup (in the guide that came with) but only regarding measurement for the noodles and chicken broth…I compensated for not using them by adding extra of both…yum! Please note that even with my large rice cooker I always drape a kitchen towel over it when using because it ‘spits’ from under the lid…I do this with the little DASH guy as well. I strongly recommend this product for full kitchens as well as student dorms.

Cute and perfect for breakroom or dorm

It makes a perfect one cup of rice which if you frequently make rice fresh but only for yourself and maybe one other person. It’s very small, and portable. The only downside is that it overcooks the rice sometimes, it has no real timer adjustment features aside from on and off and I would recommend unplugging it as soon as it’s done so it doesn’t overlook the bottom of the rice. But I didn’t expect something at this price to cook perfect rice, that is what my larger more expensive rice cooker is for, this is just kept in my breakroom at work and it would be perfect for a dorm.

Handy if you don’t have a cooktop available

This little cooker would be helpful if you don’t have a stove cooktop available, as it does boil liquids to cook some things, in small amounts. For cooking rice you definitely have to get your rice-to-water proportions just right, which took some trial and error even following the directions to a tee. I used the directions for white rice on page 13 the first few times but the rice was overcooked mush and had begun to stick before the cooker switched from Cook to Warm. I finally got better results by watching it and unplugging it while it was still on Cook when I heard it start to sizzle and stick, although that defeated the purpose of using a rice cooker. The last batch of rice finally turned out well without any intervention; I used 1/2 Dash scoop of jasmine rice and 3/4 Dash scoop of water, but I did not rinse the rice that time. I think the amount of water must need to be reduced if you rinse the rice as directed, or else it overcooks. The included Dash scoop holds 6 fl. oz., or 3/4 of a standard 8-oz measuring cup. The cooker held 1 Dash scoop of rice and the added water to just below the “1” line on the pot (water added after the rice had been put in) as per page 13. After it started boiling it overflowed through the steam vent in the lid but did not overflow the sides of the pot. Therefore I think that is about the maximum practical capacity unless you want a mess. The overflow made the lid rim a little hard to clean, although it wasn’t really a problem. Nowhere does it say the cooking pot insert or glass lid are dishwasher safe, so I didn’t put any of the items in the dishwasher. (Of course the electric base isn’t submersible.)Unlike page 13, page 14 gives amounts in standard measuring cups but I don’t think it would hold 1 standard measuring cup of rice plus enough water without overflowing the sides, as several reviews have noted. Also a couple of the included recipes are too large for the pot. The manual needs a little work.At 300 watts it’s going to be a little slow to start boiling, taking from 10 to 20 minutes to start, depending on the volume of water I used. For most things I think it would be easier to just cook them in a saucepan on your cooktop if you have one available. Rice can be tricky so it’s probably good for that, once you figure out the right rice-to-water ratio to use. It can make enough for one or probably two people. Families would need something larger.Like the other tiny Dashes, it is cute (I have the white one) and it doesn’t use much counter or storage space. It seems well made. It could also be used to cook a small amount of something else that mainly requires boiling in a liquid. (It might be safer than a cooktop for someone who gets distracted or is forgetful, as it should switch to Warm if the water boils out.) The included 6-oz “cup” (Dash scoop) and the non-scratch utensil are useful.

    Great for small servings

I wanted a small rice cooker, so I can make just 1/2 a cup at a time, without burning it. This one works great and helps me keep the portion small so I don’t eat too much rice.I’ve made 1 cup also and it works great. I prefer to use chicken stock when I make the rice, and it’s very flavorful.I find 1/2 cup rice to 1 1/4 cups broth for white rice, or 1 1/2 for brown. It takes about 35 to 50 minutes to cook, and makes great rice.

    Small but sturdy!

Perfect for someone who is only cooking for 1 or 2 people. Got it for my boyfriend as an afterthought gift and it ended up being his favorite thing I got him! Works great and I love how compact it is. We used to cook rice in a pot on the stove so it’s nice to be able to “set it and forget it” and get perfect rice every time. It automatically switches to the “warm” setting after it finished cooking which is also great.

    Makes Just Enough!

I am enjoying this rice cooker. It’s perfect for a nice serving for 2 people. It says it can handle a 2 cup capacity. I would challenge that and say 1 and 3/4 cups dry white rice is the max. The full 2 cups will cause overflow and it’s messy. Divided between 2 people you wont notice the missing 1/4 cup.The cooking pot “floats” a bit in the cooker until rice and water are added. The food weighs it down enough to stop the “floating” thing. Not a flaw or damage, thats normal for such a tiny rice cooker.

    Great for one but…

The is a great rice cooker for a single person but it does take longer to cook the rise than I expected. For brown or whole grain rice, it takes about 45 minutes. Maybe that is normal but I was hoping it would be quicker. It does work and seems well made

    Perfect rice cooker for me!

I don’t cook rice that often and when I do, I don’t usually need a lot. Normally I would just cook it in a saucepan, but it never came out quite right. I never wanted to buy a rice cooker, as I really didn’t want another bulky machine taking up space in our house. This mini rice cooker is perfect for me, just the right amount of rice, and cooks it just right. The machine itself is small enough that it doesn’t take up much room and isn’t a hassle to store.Side note, I tried the open box option for purchase to save a few dollars, and it was worth it!

    1 cup rice maker

Don’t listen to these reviews where this rice maker overflows.I bought this rice maker to replace a 2-4 cup rice maker. Let me say this clearly.THIS RICE MAKER HOLDS 1 CUP OF RICE.It will not overflow with proper measurements.1 cup rice1 1/2 cup water. This cooks rice in under 15 minutes, is truly non-stick, doesn’t burn, makes perfect rice every single time. Serves 3 people one serving or two people for two smaller servings. This maker is ideal for single to small family homes with the intention of making rice often.I love this little maker and wish it came with the hand mixer, which is going to be my next purchase from Dash.10/10 recommend.

    Highly recommend

I love rice, but cannot cook it correctly to save my life. Have tried man times, but it always sticks to the bottom and sides of the pot. I purchased the mini dash rice cooker since I am single, don’t need a big pot of rice and it is perfect. It makes two servings. I used their measurement guide, rather than what’s on the side of the bag of rice and that was the trick. Also, I rinse the rice before cooking, set my stove timer for 30 mins and it comes out perfect every time. Light and fluffy. Super easy to clean. Would highly recommend it.

    Great

I really like the size and functionality of this! It turns off when ready, no more burnt rice for me!! I just wish it played a sound when finished but wasn’t willing to pay more for one that does

    Restaurant quality rice every time!

I never believed an inexpensive rice cooker could make really good rice; I’ve had 3 more expensive ones over the years and all were disappointing. My dog had an upset stomach and I needed a rice cooker fast. I bought Dash because I have the Dash Rapid Egg Cooker and it exceeded my expectations. I’m a serious home cook, been cooking for 65 years, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this device! Dash products make perfect gifts for those who don’t like to cook & those who do. I’m buying the waffle maker right now! My dog and I thank Dash for making such great products at affordable prices.

    It cooks rice!

My only complaint is that the water tends to bubble up through the rice and the first time I used it, bubbled up over the edge briefly before I caught it and took the lid off. Now I just offset the lid a tiny bit, and watch it like a hawk. I might have been better off with a larger rice cooker, but that’s my mistake and nothing against the product.

    Small but Works Great!

I bought this as a gift and the recipient loves it and uses it all the time. Not just for rice, but quinoa, lentils, soups, etc. There is room for a 2-3 servings. Very good for people living solo. So impressed by the rave review that I later bought one for myself.

    Great little rice cooker

Got this for my daughter going to college. Nice compact size for dorm room and it’s allowed for use in the dorm room. My daughter has gotten very creative with it, besides rice, she uses it to cook pasta, soup, vegetables, meat and even bake with it.

    Love this!

There’s just two of us so this little rice cooker is perfect. We always make too much, and this little red cooker solves that problem. It does take a little fiddling to keep it from boiling over. I just put a dish towel underneath it. And the recipe book has some tasty food, too. I’m looking for other ways to use this tiny cooker for other dishes.

    Nifty little gadget

This is awesome for single servings. It cleans like a dream and is perfect for singletons. Saves dirtying up a big pot to cook for 1 person and it cooks rice perfectly.I use mine at least twice a week and it still looks as good as the day I got it. If you’re crunched for space, this is perfect

    Included instructions/recipes are useless

The rice cooker works great, once you figure out how much rice and water to use. If you follow the amounts provided in the recipe book you will get overcooked mush. I’ve found that just a little over 1 part water to 1 part rice works. The recipe book also includes amounts for things like oatmeal. The oatmeal was far too large an amount for that small a cooker and boiled over. But overall I wanted a rice cooker to make 2 portions of rice while I prepared dinner and it does that smoothly and reliably. I just wish the recipe book was accurate.

    Cooks rice perfectly

This little thing is great, extremely easy to use, rice comes out perfect. Only reason its not 5 stars is there was a slight burning smell when i first plugged it in. That only happened the first time i plugged it in, I’ve used it probably ten times since, so i just assume it was something on the heating element that melted, but worth mentioning.

    RECOMMEND!

it turned out to be a lot smaller than i thought it would be, however, it makes enough rice for 2 people or 2 days if cooking for one person.

    Easy All Around

Easy to use and clean! I love this rice cooker because you can easily start it and walk away – it won’t overcook or undercook because the settings are already set to cook then stop when it is done. If your protein takes longer then no problem because this rice cooker keeps it warm.

    Great little rice cooker

Love my little Dash rice cooker. Perfect for two people. Super easy to use. Just add rice and water and turn on. Non-stick pot cleans super easy too. Automatically clicks to warm when rice is done cooking. If you leave rice on the warm setting too long it dries out and burns. We just unplug ours when cooking cycle is complete.

    Excellent for cooking two servings

I used to have a problem just cooking two servings because the rice would be too shallow on the bottom of even my smallest saucepan, This is perfect for two servings the smaller portion fills this tiny steamer up and rice comes out fluffy . Works just like the bigger rice cookers with the cook to warming function. you can set it and let it go.
