How did we get our start?
- Jeff and I started Spade To Fork because more than anything we wanted to revive homegrown foods. We loved teaching our own children how to grow food, and saw how far removed most of us have become from this process.
What problem are we solving?

Somewhat disappointed
Well after receiving this item in the mail I decided to put the seeds into pot….well everything sent out some plant except the thyme seeds. So I am very disappointed since that was the reason I got it in the first place.

I have never had a problem growing herbs before now
I don’t know what it is about these plants, but they start to grown and die off quickly. I grow herbs every year and decided to try this package this year… It was my first summer without fresh herbs.

Packaging is great. Little pics on top of seed tubes plus they are labeled in the side. Love the little identifier sticks too. I always forget what I planted where. I’m planning on getting more and making Xmas baskets with little starter pots!

Beautiful presentation, however one-third of the seeds did not sprout.
The packaging was beautiful, and would make a nice gift. The basil and parsley sprouted very quickly, however the thyme seeds did not sprout at all; not a single sprout.

Using as holiday grab bag gift
I like the idea for a grab bag for an organic food eater. The box is kinda small so I’ll have to add some pots, gloves and maybe some (lightweight) potting mix to make it look like sizable gift.

Decent. All but one plant produced buds
This product looks as described in the pictures. It comes with 5 seed containers and wooden name stacks for each. It also comes with a pamphlet of instructions for each seed type. We used regular indoor soil mix and put them each in plastic cups. During the pandemic I planted these as a “science” project with my 2 year old. At around 10 days all the plants have some sprouts except for the sage. We followed the directions with the exception of having warm damp soil, it was cold damp soil.

Love that these seeds are organic
I originally intended to purchase this herb garden seed set because I thought it was a great gift idea. However, after receiving it I decided to keep it for myself. It’s really difficult to grow anything where I live and I love that I can grow these herbs in my house. And, it’s an extra big bonus that they are organic. So, I will feel comfortable putting them in my body. I am going to grow the herbs in mason jars mounted to a wood board and create a hanging garden. I can’t wait until they grow. I’ll have wall art and a my own indoor garden. Definitely, pleased with this purchase.

Great company
Very detailed instructions. First time planting from seed and I was surprised at how fast I saw sprouts. The plants smell amazing to the touch. I do have a fly problem that’s not reflected on the company though. I used Neem Oil spray once so far and haven’t seen any burning on my leaves. The bottle recommended to spray plants at night before your light turns off or at dusk.

So fun
This was a Christmas gift and I’ve had so much fun watching my little seedlings grow. All herbs have sprouted and are growing.The seeds are packaged beautifully with a little info booklet that guides you through getting them going. You’ll need something to plant your seeds in and some soil to be fully ready.I have really enjoyed this set and will offer from them again.

What a GREAT little seed kit
The packing is sort of the modern, stylish packaging so many thing come in these days and makes life as simple as can be. 5 sturdy cardboard tubes with more than enough seeds to start a decent herb garden in a couple large planters on a porch railing.I planted late on 7/19 and buy 7/23 I had herbs sprouting. Late to plant, i know, but within a month I think I’ll be able to start using some of them.

This kit is wonderful!!
I rarely write reviews, but I feel like I need to for this kit! I have a “black thumb”…. meaning I literally kill all plants I try to grow. This kit comes with such excellent instructions and explanations, and has given me hope! All of my herbs have officially sprouted in two weeks time. I am thrilled with this kit, the packaging, the care they have put into it. I am so excited to actually be learning how to grow my own food.

I love this Culinary Herb Seeds kit. My daughter and I planted them all together and she also loved it. It has been about 5 days and they are sprouting. It is super fun to watch them grow and a very fun project to do with your kids. I am looking forward to trying them when they are ready. These are the main herbs I cook with so love this idea. I highly recommend this culinary herb set. I also love that it is an organic product!

Perfect for My Hydroponics Planter
I used these in my hydroponics planter. A couple things took a little longer to germinate than others, but after less than 2 weeks all the seeds I planted have sprouted and are doing well. It will still be a few weeks I think before I’m able to harvest anything to try it, but I have high hopes!

Conscientious Packaging, Seeds Growing Well
I planted these seeds approximately a month ago. The basil seemed to take longer to germinate, but is growing just fine. I’ve never started it from seed before, so I don’t have any experience from which to base this process. The parsley and sage are doing very well, already developing mature leaves.I plan to leave some in my house all year, but will be moving these outside on my deck once spring has arrived. These aren’t mature enough (clearly) to use for cooking yet, but I will update if there are any issues (which I don’t expect).The packaging is nice and the seeds arrived quickly. The set had a nice personal touch and I appreciated the lack of plastic. I will happily purchase from this company when I need more seeds.

Update: Cilantro, thyme and sage sprouted really quick like in under 4 days. Basil under a week and parsley took a little over a week. I live in Vegas and it’s like 111 here. I take them out really early in the morning for a little sunshine and take them back in before noon. To try to harden them and acclimate to our weather (I’m a newbie trying to experiment here 🙂 ) They are going strong and very hopeful that they’ll survive so I can replant them outside by Sept. I would suggest to plant more seeds than what is recommended.- – – -I love buying from small businesses because of the personal touch of the owners on their product. First, I love the packaging. I like how the seeds are in biodegradable tubes not in plastics. They also included instructions for newbies like me who turn to growing our own food.Customer service is amazing. I contacted them and responded like within an hour and my concern was addressed very promptly. I am a very satisfied customer and will purchase more as soon as Las Vegas weather allows us to plant more greens.I will update my review with pictures as soon as I see sprouting. Thanks!

Absolutely the BEST herb garden kit anywhere!
I got these on September 25th, as a fun little activity to do with our 7-year-old niece while she was over for a visit. On the 26th, we opened up the package, along with the organic soil and some cute window pots I bought separately, and got to work. We moistened the soil a bit in a big bowl, added it to the pots one by one, then, following the great instructions that came with this kit, planted our seeds! Afterward, we gently spritzed the top of each plant with a spray bottle to moisten without disturbing our new seeds, put the pots in the trays and added water to the trays for bottom-up watering. All told, it was maybe an hour from opening the package to placing them in our sunny windowsill.I promised our niece I’d send pics “in a week or so” when the seeds began to sprout, so she could see them grow. But then, during my daily check for watering on September 30th, we had basil sprouts! And on Oct 1 (today) thyme was sprouting up as well. She was so surprised and excited to get pics of our little baby sprouts so soon!I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried in the past to get plants to grow from seeds, and failed every time. This time felt like such a breeze and by the looks of those sprouts, our little herb garden is doing great and will soon give us food we grew ourselves, right in our own kitchen. And the best part, a little 7yo kid now has a little spark of joy and excitement about gardening and growing our own food!I will most certainly be purchasing the full kit as gifts for others and highly recommend this seed kit to anyone who wants a great little herb garden!**NOTE: The rosemary in the photos is not from this kit, but rather a cutting I propagated and planted in the tray along with the sage and thyme, since I had a leftover pot. 😊

WOW! I’ve grown plants before but never herbs. Although they were not that hard to grow, these seeds are organic and the instructions are easy to read/follow yet very informative. They come with so many seeds that you can plant several plants and give them away to others. Would recommend for all levels of plant/herb growers.

Came up and grew so far
Best luck I’ve had with sowing herb seeds. Planted basil and parsley according to directions in 2″ peat pots, lightly covered with clear plastic, placed in a warm place under a grow light, and lightly sprayed them with water once a day. Basil came up in a few days, parsley in a week or so. Basil looks the stronger so far (picture is after about 6 weeks from sowing). Peat pots are sitting on top of a cosmetic pad and a layer of potting soil in the bottom of a 3″ clay pot on my kitchen window sill. Both basil and parsley have just developed true leaves. I’m watering about once a day. Will try thyme next.

What a beautiful seed starting kit! I just received this in the mail so I can start some herbs for my homeschooling kids and we love it. Growth after 5 days!
Baby cilantro and basil growing after 5 days! I can’t even keep a cactus alive but the trick here has been to use a spray bottle since I tend to overwater everything. I just spray a few times each morning or when I see the soil is dry.

Nothing Grew
I was very disappointed with this product. I attempted to grow the seeds on multiple occasions, in different soils, but never got the slightest sign of life. I even had a friend who is an experienced gardener come over to ensure I was planting them right. Again, nothing grew. I’m unsure if this is a scam or maybe I got a bad batch, in either case, I would like my money back.

Only Basil & A Little Sage Grew…(First time growing from scratch) 🥴
Enjoyed the nurturing tending aspect but wouldn’t buy again… Tried it out for my Manhattan studio apartment. Packaging was cute! Planted early summer now October.Cilantro sprouted, never grew. Only Basil grew into huge plants make my apartment smell like basil 🌱. A little bit of sage grew as well. No dill or parsley at all.

Good germination rate and full packets
We have been trying to grow more of the “expensive” plants, vegetables, fruits, and herbs rather than just the cheap things like tomatoes and whatnot. We aren’t strictly organic but have a preference for it and grow from trusted sources only. These packets have a lot of seeds in them. It’s off-season so I just did a sample of each packet. Out of 20 seeds the average germination was 87-93% which is pretty great with no prep and organic seeds which always seem to have slightly lower rates. Overall, I am very impressed and cannot wait for next growing season.
